  1. Anyone else having flashbacks to the Alex Collins saga from a few years back? Arkansas recruit’s mother reportedly steals letter of intent and hides before he can fax it SPORTS.YAHOO.COM Many parents want their children to go to a certain school, usually one close to home. So in that regard, Alex Collins' mother isn't...
  2. Unfortunately, it's not just an SEC problem. Did you get a load of the JV program Clemson played yesterday?
  3. I'm not going to suggest that Lanning is shaving points.... But playing Thompson is what it would look like if he was.
  4. https://247sports.com/Article/Michigan-State-football-recruiting-247Sports-Crystal-Ball-5-star-QB-197051501/ One of Michigan State's 247 insider's is predicting Dante Moore to flip. So far none of the national or regional experts have followed suit.
  5. Over the past two weeks, Miami faced Virginia and FSU teams that entered their Miami matchups with a combined record of 8-7. In each game, Miami registered more punting yards than total offense (308 to 273 vs UVA and 282 to 188 vs FSU). Excluding OT (where points are unearned and punts are impossible), Miami also had more punts than points in each game (8 to 6 and 6 to 3). Cristoballin'!!!
  6. "The best coaches are the least stubborn." I love that.
  7. In four quarters plus four OTs, Miami had 272 yards of offense... and 308 yards of punting. Cristo-ball!
  8. I initially misread this as middling coach, which also feels appropriate. Meddling and middling.
  9. Bryan Addison was recruited and played a season as a WR, so he could be another possibility.
  10. Yep, although it would be fun to see him wreck LBs as a RB after doing the opposite so many times.
  11. But what if he doesn't make any hires?
  12. I've seen speculation elsewhere that Lanning might be punting on additional HS defensive linemen this cycle and keeping his powder dry for next year when the staff will have a full year to work their magic. Riley has one year of eligibility left so he's a big body without a multi-year scholarship commitment. Might make sense to focus on high-end recruits next year rather than picking over the scrap heap now for players that will likely never be difference makers. But I think I'd still prefer to hold on to the scholarship and see if anyone interesting shakes loose in the transfer portal after spring practices.
  13. I don't like what this implies about the staff's confidence with other recruiting targets. Riley played less than 100 total snaps in the past two years for a Nebraska team that finished a combined 6-14. Scholarships are limited and valuable commodities.
  14. Not to downplay Malchow's contributions, but the $30M probably played a larger role.
