  1. No. 5 Oregon vs. No. 3 Washington: Ducks close as two-score favorites in Pac-12 title game This is the game that everyone has been asking for since the afternoon of October 14th. It hasn’t just been fans of the Oregon Ducks and Washington Huskies that have been hoping that a rematch would take place after the electric 36-33 finish back in Week 7, but the college football world as a whole. Bo Nix vs. Michael Penix, in the final Pac-12 game ever to be played. The winner gets a spot in the College Football Playoff. The winning quarterback likely gets the Heisman Trophy. You could say that the stakes are high. You could also say that confidence should be high for fans of the Ducks. 4. Oregon might always be flashy, but under Dan Lanning, the Ducks are playing tough "DO PEOPLE THINK Oregon and think tough?" An animated Dan Lanning stands in the front of the Oregon team room asking his entire team the rhetorical question. It's the eighth week of the season and a 7-1 Ducks team is headed to Salt Lake City where it'll face a Utah team that's won 30 straight games at home and whose "national narrative," as Lanning puts it, is one of being tough to beat. "What's the narrative on us?" Lanning continues. "Flashy." Oregon, with its Nike partnership, history of teams with offensive firepower and equally bold uniforms, has come to represent a certain kind of football, a certain kind of program, over the years. Whether you want to define it as flashy or otherwise, it's no secret that effective marketing combined with success has turned the Ducks into a national brand. What that brand is exactly depends on who you ask. "People don't think you're tough?" Lanning asks. All you have to do is watch Lanning speak -- sometimes yell -- to realize he cuts against that very grain. And all you have to do is watch Oregon these past two seasons to realize that very same approach Lanning embodies has permeated throughout the program. "He's developed a culture of toughness," offensive coordinator Will Stein told ESPN. "I mean his program's built on toughness, mental and physical."... 8. Five Questions With a Washington Writer Ahead of the Pac-12 Championship The No. 6 Oregon Ducks are looking for revenge. After suffering their only loss of the season to the Washington Huskies in October, they'll get another shot at Michael Penix Jr. and the Huskies in Las Vegas this week. 9. Five keys to the Pac-12 Championship Game: No. 5 Oregon vs. No. 3 Washington It's the day before the day, so it's time to identify some keys for No. 5 Oregon's rematch with No. 3 Washington (12-0, 9-0) in the Pac-12 Championship Game. The Ducks (11-1, 8-1) will be playing for vengeance for a second straight week, but much more than that as well. A win would earn the program its first Pac-12 crown since 2020, and would likely send them to the College Football Playoff for the first time in a decade too. Washington has not lost this season. The Huskies became the first school in the conference to do so since the league expanded to 12 teams in 2011. Oregon is currently 9.5-point favorites for this game. Kickoff is set for 5 PM from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas and will be aired on ABC. Each week I identify five things that will be key to Oregon pulling out the win... 10. How should we assess Dan Lanning and the Ducks so far on eve of Pac-12 title game? The Oregon Ducks are just a mere day away from taking on the Washington Huskies in the 2023 Pac-12 Championship game, which will be the last game that is ever played in the Pac-12 Conference. In general, the season has been a massive success thus far, and if not for a slip-up on the road against the Huskies earlier in the year, Oregon would likely be viewed as one of the top-ranked teams in the nation right now. So how should we assess how Dan Lanning has molded this group over the past couple of seasons and gotten them into this position? To answer that question, we talked with Warren Williamson of Oregon Duck Football News to get a deeper look into the team... How should we assess Dan Lanning and the Ducks on eve of title game? 11. Jon Gold: Highlights and lowlights that made the Pac-12 something special The Pac-12 is ending as we know it, with longtime league members Oregon and Washington slugging it out in the final conference title game on Friday in Las Vegas, where all good things go to die. But there’s still basketball and baseball, and between Oregon State and Washington State and perhaps a merger with the Mountain West to come, the league will remain viable in some fashion going forward. So a full-blown memorial doesn’t feel quite right. Instead, we’ll focus on the final remnants of a once-proud league, the dozen-year run of a Pac-12 that included a handful of old standbys and some new blood in the form of Utah and Colorado. Here’s a look back at some of the best players, performances, highlights and lowlights of the last dozen years of football out west… Gold: Highlights and lowlights that made the Pac-12 something special SATURDAYOUTWEST.COM Here’s a look back at some of the best players, performances, highlights and lowlights of the last dozen years of football in the...
  12. Jon Gold: An ode to the Pac-12 as we near the bitter end of the Conference of Champions I don’t know why I expected something like a stay of execution, or a reversal of fortune, or simply minds to be changed. This was happening and it has been happening and it is happening: The Pac-12 is dying, in its current form, done in by greed and stupidity and panic and impatience. No one actually wants it to happen, but no one wanted telephones and steam locomotives and laptop computers, either. They just happened. It’s called progress, and it’s not always linear and it’s not always good. This is the natural order of things — there was once an ABA, too, and I’m sure fans of the old Kentucky Colonels miss professional basketball in their neck of the woods, too. Only we’re not actually losing any teams. The bands will play on. We’ll still see some great rivalries: UCLA vs. USC, and Arizona vs. Arizona State and Washington vs. Washington State. What we’ll miss is the Bruins traveling to the Zona Zoo and getting hissed at. Rutgers probably won’t have the same vitriol. We’ll miss the Huskies traveling to Tempe and somehow consistently getting blinded in the sun. Is Illinois going to be the new spoiler? We’ll miss Cal and UCLA and their sibling rivalry, and the Trojans getting the best from Washington State, for some reason. There will be new rivalries that pop up, and yeah, some of it will be fun. I’m weirdly excited for Oregon vs. Maryland. But it won’t be the same, that’s for sure. Progress? Doubtful... 13. Bo Nix gains some separation over Jayden Daniels in latest Heisman Trophy betting odds One of the conversations that has dominated the college football landscape over the past couple of weeks the Heisman Trophy, and how the two quarterbacks at the top of the charts have separated themselves from the rest of the pack. Those two quarterbacks are Oregon’s Bo Nix, and LSU’s Jayden Daniels. While both have had stellar seasons thus far, Nix gets the added benefit of playing in a conference championship game this weekend and strengthening his case, while Daniels sits at home with three losses on his record. The past several days have seen fans from both schools spouting rhetoric online about why their player is deserving, and even the coaches for both schools have gotten in on the action. While the odds will likely change in the coming days, either going one way or the other, we wanted to take one last look at how the betting market stands for the Heisman before the conference championship games start. Here are the latest odds, according to FanDuel Sportsbook... 14. The Latest With Oregon and Boise State WR Commit Gatlin Bair Bair took a recent visit to Eugene for the USC game and his recruitment is getting interesting. The early signing period is approaching next month, which means that Oregon is trying to put the finishing touches on a strong 2024 class. One player that they'd love to add to the fold is Burley (ID) wide receiver Gatlin Bair, who's currently committed to Boise State. The Ducks hosted Bair for an unofficial earlier this month and I was able to speak with Burley head football coach Cameron Anderson to get the latest details in Bair's recruitment. With Boise State firing head coach Andy Avalos earlier this month, Anderson commented on Bair's commitment to the Broncos. "The situation that he has committed to isn't the same situation that's there now. He's been pretty open with the Boise State staff that he was going to take in the other options that he was comfortable with. "They've done a really good job of recruiting him," Anderson said when asked about Bair's Oregon interest. "They didn't really slow down their recruitment when he committed to Boise State. They really didn't slow down at all. They've made it known to him that he's a high priority for them." One thing that's made this recruitment a special one for the Ducks is the personal involvement of their head coach... To access the details in the article, click here.
  15. Five-Star Cornerback Davon Benjamin Recaps Oregon Ducks Visit Oregon's 2026 recruiting class got off to a great start with the commitment of five-star Scottsdale (Ariz.) Desert Edge defensive lineman Tony Cumberland earlier this fall. Over the weekend the Ducks hosted another five-star recruit in 2026 Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian cornerback Davon Benjamin. The 6-foot, 176-pound defensive back wanted to get up to Eugene for the first time because of what he's seen from Dan Lanning and the Ducks this season. "I wanted to take the trip because I've seen what Coach [Dan] Lanning and the team did," Benjamin told Ducks Digest. "It was looking good all season, proving theirselves, becoming a top-10 team in the country." The Ducks dominated the Oregon State Beavers to the tune of a 31-7 win and the Autzen Atmosphere was electric once again. "It was amazing. The crowd especially, it was packed out. Everybody was loud during the game. It was blessing. A good experience to have it." How about some of the highlights for the highly-coveted defender? To access the details in the article, click here.
  16. Former Oregon Ducks’ star Jevon Holland wins a 98-inch TV after his 99-yard pick-six Miami Dolphins’ safety Jevon Holland ignored the directive. The former Oregon Ducks’ star didn’t follow the defensive rule of knocking down a “Hail Mary” attempt. Don’t try to intercept the throw, just knock the football down to the turf. Holland and the Dolphins are glad he decided to go rogue. He returned his interception of Hail Mary pass 99 yards for a touchdown during the Dolphins’ 34-13 win over the New York Jets on Sunday. “They want me to knock it down, 100 percent,” Holland said Tuesday on profootballtalk.com. “But in that moment, it was going into halftime, score was close. I was like, ‘You know what? I’ve always wanted to do that,’ and I was like, ‘You know what? Might as well try it.’ It turned out to fall on my side.” Holland’s interception return not only helped the Dolphins win the game, it also helped him and a few random fans win a huge prize: a 98-inch television monitor and a spokesperson gig for the company. Holland’s interception came on the day TCL USA was holding its “Ultimate Gameday Upgrade” promotion. TCL USA offered to give away $1 million worth of 98-inch TVs if a player scored a touchdown of at least 98 yards during the game. TCL paid up, awarding fans who signed up for the promotion a big screen and they also gave one to Holland. Where to put the 98-inch television? Holland said he has a wall in his home that will accommodate the new addition... 17. 8 major questions for Oregon Ducks to answer in Pac-12 title game vs. Washington The entire back-half of the season has seemingly been leading up to this for the Oregon Ducks and Washington Huskies. Ever since that Week 7 thriller in early October gave us one of the best games of the year — a 36-33 Washington win in Seattle — there was hope for most that these two teams would meet again in the Pac-12 Championship Game in Las Vegas. That meeting has been set, and the eyes of the college football world will descend on Allegiant Stadium for a matchup that will send one team to the College Football Playoff, and potentially crown a Heisman Trophy winner as well. With a loss to Washington the last time these two played, what needs to change for Oregon this time around? What do they need to do differently, and what questions do they need to answer on Friday night? We’ve got some that have bubbled to the surface. 19. DJ Uiagalelei landing spots: destinations that make sense for the Oregon State QB Once expected to be one of the best quarterbacks in the nation, former Clemson quarterback DJ Uiagalelei is moving on from his one-year stay at Oregon State and entering the transfer portal a second time. Uiagalelei firmly reestablished himself at OSU and should be strong candidate for a number of programs. He has one year of eligibility left and could use it to increase his draft stock, which was considered at one point to have a first-round ceiling. At the same time, it is not out of the question for Uiagalelei to forgo that final year of eligibility and try his luck in the 2024 NFL Draft if he feels he's shown scouts enough improvement. Uiagalelei finished out the 2022 season completing 57.1% of his passes for 2,638 yards with 21 touchdowns and 7 interceptions in 2023. Oregon State's head coach Jonathan Smith left for Michigan State and Oregon State's football future is uncertain with the collapse of the Pac-12, so it is not a big surprise the former Clemson quarterback is looking for a third school to close his career. Here's a look into three spots that could make sense for Uiagalelei... DJ Uiagalelei landing spots: destinations that make sense for the Oregon State QB WWW.SPORTINGNEWS.COM

  23. What conference championship game outcomes help Oregon's CFP chances? Following the release of the College Football Playoff rankings on Tuesday afternoon, the stage is now set for championship weekend. There are currently eight Power Five teams with at least 11 wins, taking up the top eight spots in the CFP rankings, and all but No. 6 Ohio State, who lost last weekend at No. 2 Michigan, are set to compete for their conference titles on Friday or Saturday. Oregon currently sits fifth after Tuesday’s rankings, and will need to beat No. 3 Washington in the final Pac-12 Championship Game in Las Vegas on Friday to have a chance to compete for a national title. If the Ducks win, they are likely in. After nearly getting the help they needed last weekend, with No. 4 Florida State, No. 8 Alabama, and the Huskies squeaking past their in-state rivals, Oregon will still need some things to fall its way in order to guarantee a spot in the final four-team CFP before next year’s expansion to a 12-team format. Assuming that Oregon wins this weekend, let’s break down the Ducks' chances to reach their second CFP...
