  1. Freshman Iapani Laloulu preparing to make first career start in Fiesta Bowl Iapani Laloulu never played center in youth football or at the high school level, but in about two weeks time the true freshman will likely make his first start at that very position. "Coming here from high school, I never thought I'd play center," he told media on Tuesday afternoon. "I'd never played center in my whole life until I got here." Commonly referred to by his middle name "Poncho", Laloulu began working at center during spring practice. As he tells it, his position coach, A'lique Terry, followed a hunch and surprised the freshman by asking him to take a rep there midway through camp. "I'm like 'Center? You're scaring me right now'," Laloulu recalled of that moment. "Bo is in the back too, and I'm like 'I've got to make sure nothing happens to Bo'." Laloulu has taken to the position well, and the Ducks are lucky for that. With Jackson Powers-Johnson skipping the Fiesta Bowl to get a jumpstart on his NFL career, Laloulu and left guard Marcus Harper have been sharing time there during bowl prep practices. 3. Malachi Nelson's departure creates many QB questions for USC and Lincoln Riley The USC Trojans are going through a ton of changes right now. One is at the quarterback position. Five-star recruit Malachi Nelson, who was injured in the spring and was not able to get many snaps behind Caleb Williams in his freshman season, has decided to enter the transfer portal. This leaves Miller Moss as USC’s only option for the Holiday Bowl against Louisville. Beyond that, it creates a lot of questions regarding USC’s activity in the portal and the Trojans’ future at the position. 16. The first big day of the college football recruiting calendar comes on Wednesday, with the arrival of the early signing period. This gives high school prospects their first opportunity to put pen to paper and officially join their future teams. The Oregon Ducks should see a busy afternoon, with 23 current commits in the 2024 class, many of whom are expected to sign their national letters of intent on Wednesday, and plenty of whom plan on enrolling early as well. If we learned anything from Dan Lanning and his staff over the past couple of years, though, it would be smart to expect some fireworks on Wednesday, as well. A year ago, we saw the craziness that came from 5-star safety Peyton Bowen and also got a late commitment from 5-star EDGE Matayo Uiagalelei, as well as signing day flips from both Daylen Austin and Jayden Limar. Though high school recruits typically own the day, also have commonly seen transfer commitments take place as well, of which there could be several coming for the Ducks. So what could be on tap for the 2024 early signing period? That’s a question that everyone wants to know. While we can’t perfectly predict an answer, we’ve got a pretty good idea of what to expect. 17. 5 things to know about new Oregon OL Matthew Bedford Better late than never, I guess. Former Indiana offensive lineman Matthew Bedford changed his mind and will transfer to Oregon. He had committed to Colorado less than a week ago but will be a Duck instead. This kind of switch usually occurs with the high school recruits as signing day approaches, but not so much with transfers in the portal. While this is a huge plus for the Ducks, it’s a big blow for the Buffaloes, who are trying to rebuild their offensive line after a disastrous 2023 season. Bedford and his size of 6-foot-6 and 305 pounds, should be a contender to be a starter for the 2024 season as Oregon heads to the Big Ten next year. Here are five things to know about the Ducks’ newest lineman... 5 things to know about new Oregon OL Matthew Bedford DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Here are five things to know about the Ducks’ newest lineman, Matthew Bedford, a transfer from Indiana.

  20. 7 things for Oregon Duck fans to know about new QB Dante Moore Last weekend, Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks landed the first big win of the 2024 transfer portal cycle by getting a commitment from former Oklahoma quarterback Dillon Gabriel, a likely 2024 Heisman Trophy candidate. Now, the Ducks made another big-time splash in the portal, getting a transfer from former UCLA quarterback Dante Moore, a true sophomore in 2024. Moore played in 9 games as a freshman under Chip Kelly for the Bruins, and he showed flashes of some really great talent. However, he ultimately struggled, throwing for 11 touchdowns and 9 interceptions before losing his starting job in the back half of the season. Moore has a history at Oregon, so Duck fans may feel like they know what they’re getting in the young QB. We wanted to do a deep dive, though, and make sure we know all that we need to know about Moore. Here’s what we found... 21. Oregon Flips Offensive Line Transfer Who Committed To Colorado Last Week Matthew Bedford announced his commitment to Colorado last Tuesday, but the transfer quickly had a chance of heart. On Monday, the offensive tackle revealed that he's transferring to Oregon instead. Bedford thanked the Buffaloes in his announcement posted on social media. "The Colorado organization is so amazing that I made a decision too hastily before weighing all of my options," Bedford wrote. "However, upon reflection, I believe that the University of Oregon aligns perfectly with my long-term goals." Bedford started 38 of 41 games played for Indiana from 2019 to 2023. He returned to the Hoosiers this year after suffering a season-ending knee injury in 2022's opener. The 6-foot-6, 314-pounder appeared to be part of Deion Sanders' vast overhaul of an offensive line that struggled mightily this season. Colorado ranked last in rushing offense, and no quarterback got sacked more times (52) than Shedeur Sanders... To access the details in the article, click here.
  22. Northwest Missouri State RB Jay Harris Breaks Down Oregon Commitment Oregon landed a big commitment on Monday morning from Northwest Missouri State running back Jay Harris, who was in Eugene for a visit over the weekend. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound back spoke with Ducks Digest about what went into his decision, what's next and much more. For the St. Louis native, a relationship with running backs coach Carlos Locklyn was near the top of the list for why he chose to become a Duck. "Coach Lock really made that place feel like just not the experience and not the knowledge that I'm gonna get out of another coach," Harris said of his decision. "I feel Coach Lock really set that standard and he's gonna do what he says. Oregon, just going up there and visiting, Grandma felt like it was home, I felt like it was home. The people there are very nice. That school felt like home for me as soon as I landed really."... To access the details in the article, click here.
