  1. Charles - This site is fantastic because of the foundation you have set with the rules. When the rule breakers come visiting, tell them there are other sites more suited to their style, then kick them off! We're behind you 100%!
  2. Just read where Roman Rashada, a JUCO DB transfer and Jaden's older brother, committed to Ole Miss. Apparently both brothers were on visit there last week. Wonder how this impacts Oregon's chances for Jaden? 3. McDuck, you are so right about Jay Wright. His teams were not loaded with bluebloods like the elite, but he coached them up to play elite. There were few years that they didn't make the playoffs and sometimes went deep. Don't know what Nova will be like after his retirement. BTW, they're the Wildcats.
  4. I think the black unis make our players look smaller. In fashion, the color black is supposed to make one look "slimmer." Don't we want our football guys to look big and imposing? I like the yellow and green. It is so identifiable with our Oregon Ducks.
  5. It was interesting listening to him talk after his announcement. Oregon wasn't even on his radar when he was here visiting under the old regime. I guess the Ducks didn't play a style of ball he saw himself succeeding in. When he came back for a visit with Lanning and the new coaches, that is when Oregon came into the picture. Thank goodness for our new coaches! GO DUCKS!
  6. It isn't Hayward Field, but the Penn Relays are big in this area. New Eagles receiver sets a Penn Relays record WWW.NBCSPORTS.COM New Eagles receiver Devon Allen set a Penn Relays record on Saturday. By Dave Zangaro
  7. Thanks, Kurt Rambis. This article says it all. This should be mandatory reading material for any future Duck athlete thinking of leaving school early for the draft!
  8. Wow, Jester, your post holds so many truths. I always liked college sports because it was "innocent." The corruptive influences of money, free agency, agents, etc... hadn't reared its ugly head to the surface. The playing field felt "cleaner." I realized this past season "innocence" is no more. Like it or not, college sports has become a league, somewhat like a lower NFL. It is hard to adapt to the new reality as new tidbits, like the Addison debacle, just churns up my blood pressure. Perhaps when the NCAA actually comes out with new guidelines, things will improve. I'm not sure that some colleges will survive with their sports teams in this chaotic environment. I suppose worrying isn't going to change anything. So, as Charles suggests, now is the time to enjoy Our Beloved Ducks!
  9. These players have signed undrafted free agent contracts. The chances of making an NFL roster is much lower. I read an article regarding the 2020 draft where only 33 undrafted free agents actually make an NFL roster. That number was considered impressive! Only 24 drafted players did not make their teams that year. A big difference. The article I read is below. 33 Undrafted Free Agents made the initial 53 man rosters WWW.NFLDRAFTDIAMONDS.COM Reggie Gilliam made the Buffalo Bills 53 man roster after getting signed as an undrafted free agent. I love this signing!
  10. Jester - I agree with your points. I am just sorry to see that so many of these kids left early and perhaps didn't see that their dreams weren't going to come true first. I am not sure how Oregon athletics is set up, but all these kids should have access to counseling as to what their draft outcome realistically might be prior to leaving school. These facts need to be told to these kids by someone who has interest for the good of the player, independent of agents, coaches, or even family. Even for a player who might have financial problems, a college degree will be his biggest asset if he doesn't get drafted or has a short career. To be honest, I don't know how many of our undrafted players have graduated. Hopefully, future Duck players will take this draft into consideration and ask lots of questions before making a decision.
  11. According to James Creapea, "Fewest Oregon players drafted since none were selected in 2017." I am just trying to think of what caused so many to leave for the NFL when obviously they were not ready. I know hindsight is 20-20, but I was just wondering........ 1. Did the coaching change this year not give these players the feedback they could have gotten from coaches normally? 2, Were agents feeding them false info? 3. Were families overestimating the player's value? 4. Were the players just too high on themselves? 5. Who is there to advise them about the value of a degree when you may not get drafted or chances of making a team are low? I hope the players from this year learn from this. What do you think?
  12. Kayvon Thibodeaux goes No. 5 overall to the New York Giants - 750 The Game WWW.750THEGAME.COM The drama surrounding Kayvon Thibodeaux and his draft stock has come to an end. The New York... With his big personality and mentoring on and off field by Michael Strahan, KT will have help making it in the Big Apple. The fan base seems really excited. I didn't realize he will be joining Duck Shane Lemieux, who is an offensive guard on the team.
  13. My local NFL team, the Philadelphia Eagles got 2 of Dan Lanning's players, Jordan Davis in first round and Nakobe Dean in the third round. Best of all, we will get to see KT twice a year! Can't wait to see these guys play!
  14. Just saw another good picture of KT. His pocket square says "SNICKERCHIEF." Does he do NIL for Snickers candy bars?
  15. On another picture I saw of him, you can read the pocket square better. The letters seem to be SNICKERCHIEF.
  16. Axel - Your writing is legendary! I love reading your comments. Besides being comical, I find myself learning a lot. ICamel - I really appreciate your game write-ups. I don't get PAC12 Network, so you're my lifeline to the baseball news!
  17. Don't forget Chris Boucher. His Toronto Raptors are playing the Philadelphia 76ers. Boucher has had some good moments, but the 76ers lead series 3-0.
  18. I am so sorry to see Jay Wright retire from Villanova. Living 10 minutes from the Villanova campus, they became my second favorite team to follow. They were certainly more entertaining than the Ducks this season as they lost in Final 4. He gets a few highly rated players now and then, but most of his players were 3* who he coached up and many went into the NBA. His teams made it into the playoffs almost every year and I think most of it is because of his coaching. In an article I read in the Philadelphia Inquirer, it seems the current state of the NIL lead him to retire this year. Apparently he has been thinking of retirement for a while. Sounds like he has burnout, wants to spend more time with family, and the fact that the smaller colleges were going to have a hard time recruiting against NIL programs at larger schools. It's sad to see good coaches leave the college ranks. I don't think he will retire permanently, and I don't think he will coach college or NBA anytime soon. I do think he may do some TV commentating. The Philadelphia Inquirer article can be read at site below: Jay Wright’s retirement stunned college basketball. The circumstances explain why he did it. WWW.MSN.COM The last time Jay Wright spoke publicly as Villanova’s men’s basketball coach, he kept up the face and persona that made...
  19. In reality, there is no perfect coach. However, in everything I read about Dan Lanning, there have been nothing derogatory. One thing I am particularly impressed with is how well spoken he is. He has a knack for not giving away too much in his answers to questions, but he doesn't ignore questions either, like some coaches. Lanning's never ending energy is what OBD needs. As noted by players at practice, they are enjoying football again. That is testament to the hard work of Lanning and his staff who are well equipped to lead and teach. This bodes well for future recruiting. What recruit and parent wouldn't want that for themselves? The final judgement will come in the fall when we see how this plays out on the field. Can't wait. GO DUCKS!
  20. This site is truly enjoyable. Living in the east coast, I don't hear a lot of Duck talk. I am able to learn a lot from those who write articles and comments from those with opposing viewpoints stated in a nice way. At the same time, there is entertaining humor. What more can one ask for?
  21. ICamel - Thanks and much appreciation for the work you put in on these updates. Love reading them.
  22. Log Haulin, I was wondering the same thing. It's nice that we are getting these 3* PWOs and it appears that these guys are getting recruited by schools that they may be able to play at right away. For us, they are an insurance policy in case of injuries. I am also in agreement that many of these 3* PWOs will work hard to improve their status. I am not real familiar with the rules for PWOs. Is there a time limit for being a PWO or can the status be renewed each year if the player doesn't make scholarship status? I hate to think that we spend time and energy coaching these kids up and then have them leave for better opportunities to start elsewhere in a short time. I think being coached by this staff of coaches is a great resume builder.
  23. This topic is hilarious! Thanks for the laughs. I think we're past the honeymoon and working on arranging the "house" to best suit us.
  24. Kurt Rambis, I totally agree with you. Whenever I read a portal transfer announcement, I think what a bunch of BS. We all know the real reason is most likely they're stuck down on the totem pole or they want to make more NIL. People don't transfer because they are enjoying and are appreciative of a situation so much! It's sad commitments to a program don't mean as much anymore.
  25. I live in the Philly suburbs, about 10 minutes from Villanova. Jay Wright is a great coach, more from the "old school." Although he is often mentioned for other "bigger" opportunities, he shoots them down and has remained loyal to Villanova. Even more notable since he did not attend college there. He is active in the community and I hear he is good with players past and present. Since taking over in 2001, Wright has built up the program into what it is today. He will get a couple of high recruits each year, but he seems to really know how to coach up "average" players to do well in his system. This has been a difficult year for Nova due to injuries and Wright has definitely shown his coaching skills. He is worth rooting for.
