  1. The Bald Faced Truth Podcast with John Canzano John Canzano talks to ESPN senior college football writer Adam Rittenberg about the hazing scandal at Northwestern that led to the firing of head coach Pat Fitzgerald, former University of Oregon and current Northwestern President Michael Schill's decision-making process, the NCAA's fines for Tennessee's football program, and the overall expectations for the Oregon Ducks and Oregon State Beavers this fall. Canzano posted this to his podcast site yesterday and I thought I would post here for your info...
  2. Oregon had a coaching change most Power Five programs are not used to. Mario Cristobal left in favor of another Power Five school, heading back to his hometown of Miami to rebuild the Hurricanes. This led the Ducks to hire Dan Lanning away from Georgia after winning a national championship as the defensive coordinator. When Lanning arrived on campus, a total rebuild was not needed. Cristobal had success on the field and when recruiting. Had he not left for Miami, most would expect Oregon to still be on an upward trajectory and potentially competing on a national stage. Even so, a complete roster overhaul has taken place. Lanning has done a majority of his work in the NCAA transfer portal, adding instant additions for 2022 and hoping for the same this upcoming fall. “If I was putting a number on it, I would say it’s 85% Dan Lanning’s team,” Hopkins said. “I think that’s just been his aggressiveness in turning over the roster and really going after guys that fit what he needs.” On3 Roundtable: Dan Lanning’s fingerprints are all over the 2023 Oregon team - On3 WWW.ON3.COM Heading into Year Two with the Oregon Ducks, the fingerprints of head coach Dan Lanning are certainly on the roster.

  12. CLASS IMPACT: Kamar Mothudi Commits to Oregon Breaking down the latest pledge in Oregon's 2024 class as Dan Lanning and the Ducks continue to surge in the summer. This was a big win for Oregon on the trail, even if it was one that was pretty easy to see coming, dating back to my prediction in March. Michigan State made a big push for Mothudi near the end, but I think once Dylan Williams committed to Oregon it was a done deal. The two never publicly said that were a package deal, but the "Bash Brothers", as they're known on the 7on7 circuit, are close friends and will reunite in Eugene Dan Lanning and the coaching staff continue to identify and fill positions of need this cycle and linebacker was certainly one of them. With two talented commits in the fold now, their attention turns to Conroe (Tex.) Oak Ridge linebacker Justin Williams and Yelm (Wash.) linebacker Brayden Platt. Mothudi is a well-rounded linebacker, who's got a college-ready frame at 6'3", 230 pounds. Read more about what Kamar Mothudi brings to the Ducks in Ducks Digest by clicking here.
  13. PREDICTION: Oregon Ducks to Land 2024 Linebacker Oregon is off to a hot start on the recruiting trail in July, landing commitments from linebackers Dylan Williams and Kamar Mothudi in addition to offensive tackle JacQawn McRoy. Today I'm logging a prediction for 2024 Yelm (Wash.) linebacker Brayden Platt to commit to Oregon. For starters, Oregon has been in on Platt for a long time, which carries some weight. Platt narrowed his top schools to two this week and will announce his commitment on September 4 between Oregon and Oklahoma. Linebacker is a need for the Ducks this cycle, and they'd love to add Platt to the mix in addition to Justin Williams. Right now I'm feeling more confident that they can beat out Oklahoma for Platt than they can Georgia for Williams--who I think will have a spot for as long as he wants it. 15. Oregon commits are putting full-court social media 'peer press' on prospective Ducks One of the most valuable things for a college football recruiting department is a staff of coaches, scouts, and operations managers that are competent and competitive in the space. The Oregon Ducks absolutely have that, and have grown into a power that can compete with the best schools in the nation. One of the new strategy that we’ve seen be employed in Eugene, however, hinges on the efforts and support of people not on staff — yet. Over the last few months, it has been players who are committed to Oregon that have been working the hardest to try and recruit incoming players. Whether it’s QB Michael Van Buren, WR Jordan Anderson, or DL Xadavien Sims, a rash of Oregon commits have taken to social media to try and sell the program and convince uncommitted players to commit to the Ducks. With some big-time targets still on the board considering the Ducks, like 5-star LB Justin Williams, 5-star OT Brandon Baker, and 5-star RB Nate Frazier, we’ve seen a ton of outreach in the past few days. Check out out the Duck commits are trying to use the power of peer pressure to add to the flock. Being on Oregon Twitter sites everyday, I personally have noticed how active these 2024 commits are...Didn't see this last year. 16. Four-star LB Brayden Platt names final two, sets announcement date One of the West's top prospects in the 2024 class has set his announcement date. Yelm (Wash.) linebacker Brayden Platt has finalized that he will announce his decision in September. One of the elite throwers in the country, he won the javelin at USA Track Nationals and is the two-time state champion in the shot-put, Platt plans to do both football and track in college. "I want to commit on September 4th for my mom's birthday," Platt told 247Sports. Platt will choose from a final two of Oklahoma and Oregon. Having fun again: Oregon QB Bo Nix is taking it all in during his final college football season WWW.PFF.COM "I’ve been through all of it, the good and the bad," Nix said. "I’m still the same guy. 18. With conference title implications and the Playoff picture in mind, these matchups mean more than anything. College football's 2023 season features a robust slate of must-watch games every weekend, but how many of those matchups are high enough on the importance scale to be included in a "meaningful games" ranking? We're glad you asked. These are matchups we feel will directly impact conference championship races and, more importantly, the College Football Playoff picture this fall. Not to be confused with the most intriguing games this season, these contests are considerably higher on the impact scale and should be included on each elite program's campaign-defining lists. Our Ducks land on the list several times! 20. OREGON, BAYLOR SCHEDULE HOME-AND-HOME SERIES Oregon and Baylor have agreed to a home-and-home series beginning with the upcoming 2023-24 season, head coach Kelly Graves announced Monday. The Ducks and Bears will meet on Dec. 3 at the Ferrell Center in Waco, Texas, while BU will visit Matthew Knight Arena during the 2024-25 season. "We are always looking to build a tough non-conference schedule and Baylor will be a marquee non-con opponent for us," Graves said. "A matchup against such a quality program will help us prepare for the gauntlet of the Pac-12 schedule, and it will be good for our young team to take a great opponent in a tough environment." December's matchup will be the first since the teams met in the 2019 NCAA Final Four in which Baylor, then ranked as the nation's No. 1 team, came away with a 72-67 victory in Tampa, Fla. BU leads the all-time series 4-0, with a 1-0 home record and a 1-0 record in Eugene. 21. I think a Husky site started that rumor. I saw this a couple of days ago. Could 4-Star Linebacker Kamar Mothudi End Up In Seattle? Washington's coaching staff is looking to take at least one more linebacker in the class of 2024. It did a great job of earning a commitment from St. John Bosco prospect Khmori House and adding Los Alamitos standout Kamar Mothudi to the mix would give the Huskies two of the best prospects on the West Coast. Before taking his official visits, Mothudi cut his list down to five schools: Oregon, Michigan State, Texas, Utah and Washington. But recent signs seem to show that he's down to two programs, Oregon and Washington. This is the only article I have seen mention Washington as favorite. To see article, click here.
  22. WBB: current roster outlook It’s been a time of transition for Oregon women’s basketball. Some of the biggest contributors from last season have departed, and the hype surrounding the program from a couple years ago seems to be dying down. Now the question is, can head coach Kelly Graves bring some of it back this offseason? First thing was first for Graves; the infamous transfer portal. He didn’t waste much time, already adding three impact players within the last month or so. WBB: current roster outlook WWW.ADDICTEDTOQUACK.COM Women’s hoops was essentially gutted and is now piecing back together, where are they currently at? Oregon Women’s Basketball: Comparing Transfer Performances With the increase in portal activity the past two or three seasons, we’ve seen a fair number of Ducks - some highly regarded - enter the transfer portal for other schools. Our time today is not to speculate as to the why of a player’s choice to enter the portal. It’s enough that they made the choice, and the reasoning for wanting to play at a different school is as different as the players entering the portal. That’s not the purpose of this examination. What we’re doing is taking a look at each player’s statistics at their last season at Oregon and then comparing that with the player’s stats at the new school. You can infer what you like from the numbers; after all, as Mark Twain famously put it, there are lies, damn lies, and statistics. Oregon Women’s Basketball: Comparing Transfer Performances WWW.ADDICTEDTOQUACK.COM With all of the portal activity the past couple of seasons, is the grass really greener on the other side?
