Negative Recruiting Against Oregon Backfired
Jon Sousa replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Talking down on others is not the way to go. Show respect to everyone and everyone will notice. -
I very seriously doubt that the answer is yes. This is one of the draws of Oregon right now. Who would have said it 10 years ago???? When you have elite talent to coach, you find out what kind of a Xs and Os guy you are. Also, you find out if you can coach elite talent up to greater heights, or can you only coach up good talent to great?

This is interesting. Once again, I am happy to have our guys instead of their guys.

Very good interview! You can tell he is quality people.

Holy Crap! 2021 Team is STILL 72% Underclassmen?
Jon Sousa replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Agreeing with David. I don't know how we drop from 74% to 72%??????? If everyone stays where they were at the beginning of 2020, we lose some seniors and juniors declaring, we add 22 new freshmen, how can we not go up to 78%??? The answer is in the transfer portal? Getting seniors to replace seniors and juniors? Losing some sophomores to the portal? -
Interesting. How many "easy outs" are there in the North? How many "easy outs" are there in the South? WSU's QB looks like the real deal. Some people here are picking OSU to have a better record than UW. They barely lost 3 of their games last year. At the beginning of last season, many considered CAL to be the toughest out for Oregon. I see Oregon as the better team, but all of these teams can and have beat them recently.

Building Oregon In Clemson’s Image
Jon Sousa replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
In the article: "The Pac-12 is currently considered the weakest conference, which is helpful for the Ducks giving Oregon the best chance to go undefeated any given year, but Pac-12 play also comes with a slate of nine conference games which makes the potential of making it out of the season unscathed all the more difficult." All true. BUT on the other hand I think that we can't have it both ways. We decry the fact that the PAC 12 is weak - therefore winning it does not immediately demand the greatest respect - and at the same time we decry the fact that in the PAC 12 Oregon has to play 9 conference games, which is "difficult". If it is so "weak", why is it so "difficult"? The answer is that the PAC 12 is not as weak as the perception. Since 2010, every single PAC 12 team has not only received votes to be in the top 25 rankings, every single PAC 12 team has actually spent time in the top 25 rankings. -
Alas! I so wanted to be correct. Thanks Charles.

Of Course The Chargers Should Stay With Herbert
Jon Sousa replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It is so rare that a team spends a high first round draft pick on a QB and then find out that they actually DID get a franchise QB... that there is no way you could be so mindless as to then trade him away. -
If I am understanding correctly (and I might not be), transfers coming in do not count against the 25 limit on new recruit scholarships each year. The fact that several are transferring out makes room for transfers in.

It would certainly be a sign that last year the coaches were right. I think they were right anyway, given the circumstances and the choices that they had.

I recall that in the lead up to that game one of the Duck's players was asked if Roper was good enough to lead the team. The answer was something like: The Ducks recruited him; of course he's good enough!

Should JTT Stay Close To Home, and Choose Oregon?
Jon Sousa replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Hmmm. Ask the same question on a UW, Bama, tOSU or USC board.... would the vote be unanimous??? -
This is always my opinion, though at times it may be wrong. The coaches see and know a lot more than is even possible for me. Fortunately for the team, they are making these decisions and not I.

Oregon's Recruiting Rivals Ranking Climbs to No. 3
Jon Sousa replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Any time of the recruiting cycle it is great to be ahead of Georgia, LSU, and Clemson. It's especially nice to be ahead of them this late in the game. Even if we fall behind all three, it's nice to be breathing rarified air. -
Oregon Is One Of Only Four Teams In The Last Decade To Do This!
Jon Sousa replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Last year's sophomores and freshmen will be this year's juniors and sophomores. The new freshman class is dynamite in a bottle. The only thing missing this year is the seniors and red-shirt seniors that were part of an elite class. The cupboards at Oregon are stocked better than they ever have been in history. With two more years of recruiting like this, Oregon's roster will look like the Big Boys. We should be able to get into the playoffs now. We should be able to win it in two years. -
Oregon Clinches Pac-12 Recruiting Title with Byron Cardwell.
Jon Sousa replied to BigDucksFan's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I thought the reveal is pretty imaginative. People have been doing the hat thing for a long time. This is the first time I have seen peeling off shirts. He did go through the other two very quickly. I am in favor of the recruits enjoying the moment however they want to. It seems that everyone at his birthday party enjoyed it. -
JTT should read this article.

Anthony Brown Is Returning To Oregon For 2021 Season
Jon Sousa replied to Coach Eric Boles's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
This is good news. I don't think it means anything about the QB room except that Moorhead has options and depth. Very good news. It's going to be a fun spring and summer. Hopefully, there will be unity in the room, with everyone helping everyone.
