  1. TOTALLY agree with the article. The long game is in play. The third quarter mystery isn't a mystery to DL. One of the announcers pointed out against a weaker opponent (Maryland? Illinois?) that Oregon wasn't calling plays with the O-line doing exotic things like we see against stronger opponents... it was mostly just strait ahead blocking. This is especially true in the 3rd quarter. We could be scoring in the third quarter with perfect execution of the bland plays, it's just harder to score when we are not using everything in the tool box. One thing I have thought is that Dan is playing rope-a-dope in the third quarter so that everyone thinks that Oregon has a third quarter problem. I've been thinking that we won't see a pedal to the metal third quarter until the post season... then watch out! The long game was not used until the an Ohio State game, when Dan announced during practice week, "we are going over the top" to his team, something we didn't learn until Ducks vs. Them came out. The third quarter might not be used until CC game... or maybe not until the playoffs.
  2. Actually, it's only 2 3*s. Even more impressive.
  3. That side note looks more like a HEADLINE!
  4. Ducks win 45-3 2 - turnovers 4 - sacks 310 yards passing
  5. Are the Ducks bowl eligible yet? I remember when back when that was big news!
  6. You gonna take his spot on the sidelines in your street clothes?
  7. Ducks 39-7 (Let's establish a tradition) 3 TO 4 sacks 289 yds passing
  8. One of the things I noticed (you will want to look again), is the look in the eyes of the ref after the play is over. He keeps looking at Whit as he heads out of the back of the endzone. His eyes looked like they were saying, "Who IS this guy??"
  9. A couple thoughts: DL wants good recruiters. His goal will never be to rehabilitate coaches, but to win championships. No matter what their upside, DL would never hire a Chip Kelly because he doesn't want to recruit. Rather than be a rehabilitator, DL wants to get young coaches with a lot of drive and good ideas... and help THEM succeed. This has been DL's MO from the beginning. He will hire an old experienced guy to help mentor the young buck (A'lique Terry), but he's not hiring the old guy to be The guy. Looking back some day, DL's coaching tree will show a multitude of great coaches that started as young, near unknowns. Some of those young bucks will not want to move on. They will like working with DL. They will like Oregon. They will like the rings. They will realize that the grass is pretty green in Oregon. There may be a lot more coaching stability in Oregon than anyone would imagine now. Dan Lanning has made it clear that he wants to stay.
  10. You got the decimal point in the wrong place. 10 miles, 100 miles... 1000???
  11. Oregon 42-10 3 TO's 6 sacks 320 yards
  12. Regarding NW pre-injury vs. NW post-injury... I've had an ACL repair surgery, and there is NO WAY someone can be 100% back to pre-injury condition in only a year. I'm surprise he is doing as well as he is. His knee still has room for improvement.
  13. Bassa said before the season that the B1G will have to adjust to our physicality (or something to that effect). That was a very risky thing to say, as we had to deliver or be a laughingstock. Two plays: 1) The refs didn't see (I'm assuming) that the receiver did not have control of the ball when he hit the ground, and Bassa wrestled the ball away from him - a very impressive show of physicality. 2) Harmon wrestled the ball out of the runner's hands as they were falling to the turf. That's physicality that tOSU was unprepared for. Last physicality observation: The Ducks were more physical in the trenches on both sides of the ball the whole game. tOSU and the rest of the B1G need to beef up a bit more to deal with the Ducks' physicality. The Ducks seem to be holding their own on the physicality front.
  14. From a marketing standpoint, this is EXACTLY what we wanted. We openly pushed for the moniker "That team out west". "That team up north" is used because tOSU hates Michigan so much that they refuse to say their name. It's what we asked for. If we keep beating tOSU, someday we might get it. Does the B1G regret inviting us in yet??? Buyer's remorse??? They got a deal when they bought us for only half shares.
  15. Nowhere close to "It could have gone either way" when it was a total blow out. Howard's quote is close to "It could have gone either way". If he would have said that, he would have been right.
  16. I don't know. It looks like LOVE. "Am I leading, or are you?"
  17. This was my thought exactly. Against any of our previous opponents, those balls are not intercepted. Especially the second one. They were both lights out plays by the Spartans. When they happened, I thought that perhaps DG was surprised, thinking he had good throws. And I thought that he is now aware that DBs can be a lot better than what he has seen.
  18. Oregon 41-17 1 TO 3 Sacks 307 Passing Yards
  19. When I saw it, I thought it made sense. If DG goes down, Novosad is the backup to Dante. Give him the experience of receiving a couple of hikes, a hand off and a knee in front of a live audience. If he is #3, he will not get any meaningful snaps in a real game unless Dillon and Dante both go down. Give him at least a LITTLE experience with the TV cameras on.
  20. Oregon 52-13 1 turnover 5 sacks 387 passing Lemonade
  21. 34-27 Ducks 2 TO 3 Sacks 389 Passing Yards
