  1. This might be spot on. Yes, Day one the day in the Rose Bowl and has been to the playoff several times... but with how many 4* and 5* players does he have on the roster, mostly because it is tOSU? Also tOSU can afford the best assistant coaches out there. KW has built his program from the ground up, over decades (in football years). He started with 2* and a few 3*. Now he is recruiting good 3* and a few 4*… but still way behind what tOSU can bring in. KW has just won the PAC 12 two times in a row, including last year when there were many top flight teams competing. FIVE PAC 12 teams won 10 games or more last year... and it's not just because they played all cupcakes. I obviously think that DL deserves to be on this list, and so does Jonathan Smith... These two guys are both wizards in their own way.
  2. Definitely, our best QB year. BB and MM were both better than DT, who led the team to the national championship game and should have won it.
  3. So, what we are hoping for is that "It (the defense) always reigns in Autzen Stadium."
  4. The reason Oregon is so low in the PAC is that they do not have to play Oregon.
  5. Not only did they sell tickets at $10 a pop, they sold out! They also sold out the biggest crowd they have ever had! I think it is important that we fans attend the spring game if at all possible... Because it will help in recruiting! A whole bunch of young studs will be there, looking over the Oregon Ducks. The fuller the stands, the better the experience.
  6. It's kind of amazing that he is a three star since he has only played in 4 HS games. I see him moving up before he graduates next year.
  7. So, I finally clicked on this thread. All I can say, in answer to the title is: I hope not. It is easy to make a decision when there is nothing but a closed door in front of you. When a door opens up, you have to decide. The PAC ¿? decision makers haven't proven to be that great in decision making over the last couple decades. You trust them to make the right decision here? For many reasons stated in other threads, I prefer to stay in the PAC as a clearer path to the playoff, and therefore, more money in the end.
  8. Very difficult to disagree here. Thanks for the perspective Jon. Totally agree.
  9. Selling out a spring game at $10 each, then getting your largest crowd by far... shows a rabid, hungry fanbase that longs for something to root for. Good luck to them... but never over the Ducks or Beavers.
  10. Good article. Thanks for posting. I most frequently appreciate Wilner's view... the same with Jon Joseph's.
  11. How have Cal, Colorado, and the AZ schools done in their last 11 football games against the PAC?
  12. It absolutely does not. Are we going to deny everything that we have said about how the long commutes, especially for the "minor sports", are going to be very hard on the student athletes??? Are we going to spit vitriol at the "traitors" and then become one???
  13. According to the article then, Oregon has 24 - of its top 100 rated recruits ever - currently on the team. Thanks for posting Jon.
  14. While I initially thought this also, the guy is obviously referring to the SEC West. He did it just so it would look cute with saying those Cali schools are going east.
  15. I am assuming this was looked into before the dismissal. This is very good for Lanning in maintaining discipline in the future. Guys will think twice... we hope!
  16. Great get for ASU! Does anyone still think that the PAC 10/12 is on the fast track for becoming a G-6 league????? Every single PAC 12 team has been ranked in the top 25 in the nation over the last 20 years. It is getting harder to win the conference crown, not easier. When the playoffs go to 12 teams, it seems likely that the PAC 10/12 will frequently have more than one participant... a complete turn around from the last few years... and that WITHOUT USC or UCLA in the mix.
  17. We might tap the breaks just a little bit. I don't think Lanning has "all" his guys. And they have not all been developed very much (40 freshmen?????) So, expecting the moon this year might be a little optimistic, even for me. It's still going to take a couple years to get the defensive motor humming. The sheer number of edge rushers we recruited and "portalled" in tells me DL doesn't know which ones will truly fit the D. We recruited enough to get at least four that should fit. Talk about a full room and tons of competition to get on the field...
  18. Jonathan Smith was a short walk on and took the Beavers to their highest heights so far as a QB. He is probably going to up that Beavers' ceiling again as a coach.
  19. True indeed, but there is no contract when kids are being enticed to sign/transfer. It's just somebody's promise (hence, the article above - a promise was at least perceived, but not kept). When a big donor is promising a big deal, you don't think the big donor won't add, "...and if you stick around and do really well, there will be more... a lot more." The whole idea behind NIL is that the athlete's name, image, and/or likeness will be worth something that the athlete should be able to cash in on. If the kid is a bust his NIL is worth nil. I am sure that any intelligent donor/employer would make that perfectly clear.
  20. I can see a $13 million offer with $.5 million true freshman year, $1 million redshirt freshman year if he sees the field, $2 million sophomore year if he becomes the starter, $4 million junior year if they make the playoffs, $6 million senior year if they win the championship... Less if benchmarks aren´t reached, more if they are exceeded. Multiyear contract with incentives, just like the coaches... with the ability to fire if expectations aren't met, just like the coaches.
