Is it Just Me?
That's unfortunate to hear. I like John Canzano's radio show, but only the last hour where his journalist wife joins him on air, and they mostly talk about non-sports stuff and field questions with the audience. My chief complaint with Canzano was that he is a champion of the little guy, and gives the limelight and the microphone to those that often don't get that chance. The thing is, Oregon Football is king in the state of Oregon, and then come the Blazers. After that the number of fans and interest drops off a cliff. I wouldn't exactly say Oregon State is "the little guy", but Canzano also had a love affair with OSU and was quick to criticize the Ducks when he reluctantly talked about them. One of Canzano's kids also is a student at OSU. The Oregonian needs to hire a graduate of the University of Oregon School of Journalism, and who regularly goes to Blazers and Timbers home games.

Oregon Ducks Football: Don’t Count Bo Nix Out Yet
> It looked like the Ducks tried taking the final exam on their first day of the semester. Very true. I had hoped Oregon would fare better considering Dan Lanning audited the course.

Pop Oregon Quiz (And You Can't Say Neither)
Until Oregon is in the Big 10 I'll strongly be in favor of playing teams like Georgia. Our offensive and defensive lines looked pretty rough. As far as I'm aware, those are weak points in our recruiting arsenal as well. Oregon absolutely must pay top dollar for the biggest and best line players.

Have a Complaint About the Advertising?
Ha! I think the new ads are a bit humorous. For the record, I am a huge fan of the advertisement business, because it subsidizes American sports and entertainment. Most of my friends and family are highly educated, but it seems like they don't know how all of the media bills are getting paid. Everyone wants "free" content. I can't even completely blame the younger generations- my father is 78 years-old, and he mutes the sound on his TV during all commercials or when listening to the radio (he still looks at the screen, so I don't know how he's winning that "stick-it-to-them" battle). Anyway, I have Windows 10 (not a fan of newer versions nor non-mobile Apple products). When I use fishduck.com I get an ad across the top banner, an ad at the bottom (or above a comment like now), and an ad in the middle that follows you until you close it. I've never minded the route companies went when the made more space for ads using open sidebars. I don't care for one second if companies know my buying habits or whatnot. What is everyone hiding with all of these "privacy" cries? But fishduck.com doesn't have sidebars, so this is what we've got. I think one ad is fine on one page at a time. Easy to see and close. The rest of it makes it seem like that "free money" infomercial guy in the question mark suits.

Predicting Oregon: Is Russo Crazy? !!
I've expected the Ducks to have a pretty good shot at making it to the National Championship ever since I was a Freshman at UO in 1998. Of course there have been some off years here or there, but I generally think Oregon should be favored in every single Pac game, every single year. If your lone loss is to Georgia in Atlanta, or an LSU in Dallas- I think that's good enough to make the Playoffs. Expecting less is not something I find acceptable! That said, I usually don't think we deserve the National Championship more than once or twice per decade- I just think we can get there with proper execution. We aren't the Washington Huskies. We have prestige!

What's Better Than to Start a Season Watching Scott Frost Lose a Close One?
Better than the result? Maybe all of that free beer and food at Aviva Stadium in Dublin? I got to see my Germans beat Ireland 6-1 in a World Cup Qualifier at that stadium. It's extremely nice, and looks a lot like the new Hayward Field! Luckily the Irish fans were pretty friendly, which makes sense because Germany playing Ireland in soccer is like Oregon playing Portland State in football. Personally, I don't have any beef with Scott Frost. I don't like Nebraska football at all, though. I didn't rank them in my Reddit CFB poll the other day, which is funny because I got a voter alert that let me know that 90% of other voters had them ranked. Never buy into the Nebraska hype! The only contribution Nebraska football has made in the past 20 years is provide college football fodder on 'Better Call Saul'.

Charles's Conspiracy: Is Mase Funa the Reason for the Secrecy?
If Mase wants to be drafted I don't think he should lose any more weight, but stay where he is.

For Visitors: Eugene, Tailgating Advice and Recommendations
There is a bar right by the stadium called "The Cooler". I have not been there in 15 years, but it's the last place where I tried to pass myself off as cool, or someone of an age who knew what something like "yeet" means.

For Visitors: Eugene, Tailgating Advice and Recommendations
All of these places have good beer and good grub. At the same time, they are all staffed by youngish hipster types who hate all sports. You'll have to separate the Autzen experience from the brewery experience.

The Domino the Pac-12 Was Waiting For: Big Ten Reaches its Media Deal
This is good news for Oregon. It makes it much more likely that the Ducks and the Huskies get an invite to the B1G, or would suggest uneven distribution in Oregon's favor for however long the Pac 10 exists. The door being left open for ESPN if the B1G expands would be the cause of that uplifting news. Oregon would be sitting shotgun or driving the current Pac, but I'd rather sit in the middle seat of the B1G, or even the trunk!

Bronny James to the Ducks?...Looks Like a Possibililty
"He hasn't taken 1 visit yet and has had only a few calls with coaches and universities. When Bronny makes his choice you'll hear it from him. #JamesGang" - Lebron James this evening on Twitter

Bronny James to the Ducks?...Looks Like a Possibililty
If Vegas will honor those odds that would be a sight to see.

Lanning Says He Doesn't Know If There's A QB Leader Post-Scrimmage
The bottom of the SEC is pretty bad, and there's no denying that. I hope Nix does well, but one could argue that Auburn would have fared better than 6-7 and 6-5 these past two seasons if he was on the bench. Oregon should have put Auburn away when they had the chance the other year. Nix & Co. weren't exactly world beaters, they weren't as good as the Ducks (despite pulling out a win), but heh- they were a lot better than a bunch of other SEC teams in those years.
-
Lanning: What Are You Willing to Sacrifice this Moment?
I'm willing to sacrifice Oregon receiving a fair share of the revenue sharing if they join the B1G. They could accept less of a payout for a handful of years just to get their foot in the door. It's not my money, it's not your money, so why should any of us even care? Phil Knight has $55B, and he can subsidize us for a few years until we're equal members. When Phil Knight passes away (hopefully we can make him a hybrid human/AI machine before then) he'll leave a ton of money for the Oregon Football program. Let's use that money now to position us for the future. That's my sacrifice...

Atlanta Journal-Constitution - Five (More) Things About the Ducks
No knocks on the Ducks. The writer described Oregon as having a well-oiled program. An odd time to come to Eugene to write a field mission story.

Canzano: ESPN Shut Out of Big Ten? If True, Great for the Pac-12
Ah, I see what you're saying. I'm a bit more selfish. I think of the Pac only in terms of the time we spend in it before Oregon and Washington go to the B1G. So, I'm hoping for the best payouts until we leave, with the lowest exit penalty fee tagged on. As for the Pac after Oregon leaves? That's not much of my concern.
-
Canzano: ESPN Shut Out of Big Ten? If True, Great for the Pac-12
It's good for the PAC as ESPN needs more content, and it probably helps Oregon's hopes to get into the B1G because they'll need more marquee games to fill the good slots.

Breathe Easy: Jurrion Dickey Dismisses 'Canes
Finally some good news for Oregon fans. It's been a long time since we've got anything positive to read about.

Samu Taumanupepe Postpones Commitment Date
HS players like to commit to schools that already have a highly ranked class. They want to win championships. If you start to lose top recruits it becomes something like a disease, and other players start to drop. If you lose Dickey, then you could soon lose Dante Moore, and so on. Phil Knight could afford to be patient with Nike because Nike is on top, and every player wants to sign with them anyway. In college football, Oregon is not on top. We're not really even very close to the top. We can't be patient, and certainly can't bank on the transfer market. We need every 4 and 5 star player we can get.
-
Samu Taumanupepe Postpones Commitment Date
Every four or five star player should have their hands out for NIL money, even if their parents are exceptionally wealthy already. The money goes straight into your pocket if you are 18 years-old. The big programs should all be offering a lot, so if they all came in with close bids it would simply revert back to where they actually want to go, what coaches they like, etc.. The Ducks can't afford to lose players to NIL, we're too small for that, and are in a lame duck conference. If a player takes a big payday it doesn't mean they don't want to hit people and work hard. That's just talk that teams like WSU and OSU tell recruits because they can't afford to pay. Oregon can afford to pay.

Yikes! A MAJOR New Fracture in the Pac-12, and Oregon is the Problem?
UCLA is definitely leaving, and good for them. If Oregon were approached about bailing with USC to the B1G, you'd better believe we would bolt in a split second. The California Regents are peons in the grand scheme of things. Also, UCLA Football is better now, and has a much brighter future than Nebraska, Purdue, Maryland, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Northwestern, and Rutgers. They probably have a better future ahead of them than Iowa as well. If Oregon were invited to the B1G soon, I'd say the top-5 would be 1) Ohio St. 2) Oregon 3) USC 4) Michigan 5) Penn St.

Poll: Would YOU Want Oregon to Join the Big-12 Alone?
Yeah, I forgot to mention that. I could see it happen in 8 years or so if we don't go to the B1G or make some sort of alignment with Atlantic Coast teams. You'd have to bring in UW at the very least. You couldn't have Oregon out on an island in the SEC. I bet it would get a bunch of resistance from Alabama and Auburn, though, because they'd proably get pushed to the SEC East if the SEC kept adding teams out West.

Poll: Would YOU Want Oregon to Join the Big-12 Alone?
I have slight sun fatigue from playing golf at Laurelwood twice today, and glossed over the language in the poll. My brain read "Oregon should join the BIG-10" and I voted for the first option. I immediately realized my error. I would have voted for the third option- to wait for an invite to the B1G. If I had voted for option 3 it would be in the lead (as of the time of this writing). The irony is that option #1 is my very last choice. I'd rather Oregon be independent and get modest to meager TV payouts for their games than join the BIGXII. B1G > PAC 10 > PAC 6 > Independent > ACC > BIGX11

Interesting Pac-12 Developments From Canzano
The B1G doesn't care one little bit about California's regents, nor should they. The only reason UCLA got to go is because they wanted USC, and taking the whole LA market made much more sense, especially considering logistics and scheduling. I suppose having a blue blood basketball program also helped. If B1G were told up front that in order to take USC, they'd also have to take UCLA, Stanford, and Cal- they'd tell the entire state to kick rocks. The California regents and the California legislature... they simply do not matter. This little charade will be over soon.
