  1. I built a 550 sq. ft. cottage for AirBnB purposes in 2011 out of an old tool/wood shed that connected to my double garage. But I live in Eugene. I suppose that some Ohio State fans might take a whole week off and stay for a few days in Portland or the coast, but those are not the type of people that are going to use just a bedroom. At any rate, it's super easy to sign up for AirBnB or VRBO. I don't even think you are allowed to actually give people the breakfast part of a bed and breakfast. In almost every case the goal of guests is to never see the host! It's 2024, nobody wants that. They want a door with a keycode, and they want to come and go when they want. Anyway, if you're going to take the time to do a quick rental, then I'd suggest just renting out your whole house for 5 days or a week and then stay with friends or in-laws while the people are there. You could charge about $600-800 (or more depending on where you live and what your house is like) a night for that. Otherwise it's not worth it. Just getting money for one bedroom for a one-off thing isn't worth it. You'll have to buy them their own shampoos and soaps, and then you'll have to offer them new sheets, most likely. Etc, etc.
  2. She did so much for everyone here. What a great person she was.
  3. If we could make FishDuck members de-age 26 years I'd say that would be a win, and more important than Oregon Basketball.
  4. I'd probably consider not signing with Oregon because of the court, to be honest. No joke.
  5. It's not "spend it or lose it", to be fair.
  6. It's high school spring break. The students in the AV club that are planning to film and show the games on public access TV don't have access to their school computers until Monday.
  7. I think that has to do with Hamlet's mother marrying his uncle Cleetus, and Hamlet's own Oedipus Complex. Just the way things are in S-E-C territory. I kid, I kid.
  8. I doubt Evans will stick around for a junior season, unfortunately. Kel'el Ware is even going to be drafted in the late first round in June.
  9. This situation is difficult for me to evaluate. I don't blame the SEC for scheduling only 8 conference games. If they can get away with it and make a lot of money...then good for them, I guess? But is it noble? To schedule more SEC conference games, or not to schedule: that is the question: Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, Or to take arms against a sea of troubles.
  10. Good thing I read the article, then! But I'm a unicorn these days. I consider ads, especially tv and streaming ads, to be critical to the solvency and future of American sports and entertainment. The younger generations and the forgetful Gen-Xers forget how bills actually get paid.
  11. The NFL Combine ended on Sunday, March 3rd! For the most part it ended on Saturday the 2nd, as Sunday was just offensive linemen doing a few things. I got tricked into watching on Sunday, hoping to see Jackson Powers-Johnson run the 40, but he didn't participate in that!
  12. I share with you my strength, Kim. Hope to see your post again when they come.
  13. This is what I have been thinking these past few years as well. The only reason players should transfer out of Oregon for football or basketball is because they don't want to sit on the bench. If people are bailing you've got a problem.
  14. "The Climb" is the title of a very popular Game of Thrones episode. I'm pretty sure "The Climb" Lanning & Co. are using is in reference to that episode, even if unconsciously chosen: "Chaos isn't a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail and never get to try it again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb. They refuse. They cling to the realm or the gods or love. Illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is." - Littlefinger, Game of Thrones S.3 E.6
  15. I'm a huge Blazers fan. We should have traded Dame a long time ago. Also, I pretty much root for us to lose every single game because I have no problem with tanking. The NBA has a salary cap and zero free agents want to move to Portland. The only way to win is to get lucky in the draft, or to time your trades right. If I wasn't clear- I love the Blazers and hope we lose every game. That could give you an idea about how little I care about the little guy in college football. I wish the Blazers could simply outbid for players and essentially give them an offer to live in the rain that they can't refuse.
  16. Wake me up when the Ducks (Men's BB) are in the NCAA Tourney & the baseball team is in the World Series/Playoffs rounds. But seriously, I watch the Ducks pretty darn closely in basketball, but it is all in the hopes that we make the NCAA Tourney. In general, I care about the following: 1) CFB National Champion 2) Making the CFB Playoffs 3) Winning the NCCAA Men's Tourney 4) Making the Men's NCAA Tournament 5) CFB recruiting 6) Men's BB recruiting 7) CFB Big 10 Champions (I guess this would also include a Playoff spot anyway, it's just that I don't necessarily care about conference titles too much) 8- Baseball National Champions 9) Men's BB Big 10 Champions 10) WBB National Champions I guess the emphasis for me, and one Spartan2785 pointed out, is that recruiting in football and basketball is one of the things I pay attention to and am most interested in. It's also why I do not like John Canzano's radio show. He never talks about Ducks recruiting even though that's one of the most important things there is to talk about. If there was a FM/AM radio show that only talked about Oregon recruiting I would listen to it every day.
  17. I think you guys are overestimating how good Michigan will be next year. The schedule is fairly friendly to Oregon.
  18. It always depends on how you watch a broadcast or stream, and what the conduit is. I happened to watch this game on a bunch of platforms- direct feeds via Xfinity cable and Direct TV/Dish (whatever Hot Mama's Wings has when I picked up food) and those were perfect. I also streamed via the Pac-12 App on my basement TV, and it was only OK, but casting or using an HDMI cable from my phone or laptop was crappy. For reference, I cancelled Xfinity for YouTubeTV in October, so I have to use my 80 year-old father's Xfinity online account to watch/stream the Pac-12 Network. Xfinity/Comcast is pretty smart, and they absolutely tank the quality of your stream/cast if you are not watching via your home wifi network.
  19. It's actually $73 a month, but what's the difference? Plus I think you get the first three months for half off. I switched from Xfinity to YTTV in October when I got Hunter Fiber installed in my house. I can get YTTV on 5 devices at once, and that includes my phone for when I'm not at home. Also, about that phone- it's 2024, so I only pay about $30 a month for unlimited data. I use Mint Mobile- I own my own iPhone, so I can cancel whenever I want. I'm not sure if Mint uses Verizon or T-Mobile, but I tend to switch back and forth from time to time for all the cheap companies. I don't understand why anyone would pay more than $45 a month for a cell plan these days unless you use your phone for work with tethering or something. It's all Verizon or T-Mobile. I'm a UVA grad student so I watch Cavs basketball on the ACC Network. There's also the Big 10 network, and I think the SEC Network? YouTube TV also has unlimited DVR, and you can tell it to simply record all Oregon football and basketball games going forward. The main problem is Peacock. What a crappy streaming service. It's the one app nobody has. It should just merge with Hulu or something.
  20. That's why he was nice to Oregon. It's because the WBB are the underdogs these days. That's what he likes.
  21. Canzano only roots for underdogs. He champions them. If he ever starts rooting for the Ducks then there must be something seriously wrong with our program.
  22. That name sounded made up, so I had to google OSU's roster to make sure you weren't pulling my leg. It's true, he transferred on the 27th of December! That's huge! Breaking news on FishDuck material! https://www.si.com/college/oregon/recruiting/oregon-state-kicker-atticus-sappington-commits-to-oregon
  23. It depends on how you define cheating. For example, there are "good" pass interference plays committed by DB's and "good" illegal blocks. I remember finding myself in a scrum on the ice behind the net in an ice hockey game in high school, and after the puck somehow popped up right in front of me I made a one-handed toss with the puck over the net and "scored" a goal off of the goalie's back. I will never forget an irate opponent screaming at me, "you can't do that!" with me responding with "I know, that's why I did it."
  24. We need a RB that is expected to be drafted in the top three rounds of the NFL draft next spring. We don't have that. That's pretty much the only thing we need. Unless we got a veteran lockdown field goal kicker that I didn't know about, then we need that too. James isn't that and Whittington might have injury effects. The depth beyond that is hardly elite. It's time for a LaGarrette Blount transfer. We need someone teams fear.
