Mario Cristobal--When the Knives Come Out
DazeNconfused replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Miami fans have had a beef over Mario since when they hired Manny Diaz. The Diaz hiring was another fight I won't get into. Every year they would have a "we should have hired Mario - not Manny" slugfest and as a result the Miami fans are acutely aware of Mario's faults. The Pro-Camp that wanted them to hire Mario away from Oregon in 2019 really picked all things Manny Diaz apart, from the day he was hired until he was fired. The Anti-Camp that didn't want Mario always threw Mario's mistakes up to document them ad nauseum, and then launched a full blown anyone but Mario campaign right before the Mario hire. Unlike Oregon fans who had to watch, see and learn who Mario was as a coach, Miami fans know it from Day 1 because they watched him while he corched at Oregon. -

Miami goes to College Station to play Texas aTm and if they get blown out the Mopes will be bringing up the Utah games last year. -
Mario Cristobal--When the Knives Come Out

He are some posts from a canesinsight thread about the game we lost to Stanford last year. '"every year he drops an inexplicable game to a clearly inferior team. like clockwork. this is the second time it's happened against stanford. this game never should've been close." "I don’t need Undefeated Natty’s every year. Sign me up to go a guaranteed 10-2 stacking chances and being in the convo and we will win one of these eventually." "But he went 4-3 last year" "He had a NFL QB and managed to lose to a 5-6 Arizona State team and now has a BC reject, he couldn’t recruit another Qb in the 4 years he’s been there?" "I think the only “bad loss” was against ASU two years ago. That’s the one his critics always point to. Brown JR is awful. I’m more concerned how Oregon hasn’t recruited a big time QB." "57-57 career 500 coach. I don't understand the lovefest for the guy. He is not good. Ace recruiter is all they say." "Mario is 10x the coach that Manny is. This is a fact. I can live with 9-10 win seasons when Mario comes. I can't live with the fraud coaching us now who will have us sweating wins against the App St.'s of the college football world if he stays" -

This article is clowning on Mario. It did not go after his personal character; it did not blame him for leaving Oregon. Mario gets paid millions of dollars to be a football coach. It's fair game to clown him for being a corch. -
Dan Lanning Knows How to Rock an Offseason

I read this article again and laughed maybe more than the first read. Loved the "when he's old enough to drive" Great article, great style! Makes me feel like a hack writer! -
How High Can Dillingham’s Ducks Fly?
DazeNconfused replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
That's a really good point I haven't pondered! Bo makes lots of on the move off platform throws. But I feel the key to his success in this offense will be if he can stay in the pocket, keep his feet under him and drive the ball downfield. That's how you make big-time throws and what the NFL will want to see, and it's the biggest jump I want to see Bo make. But your 1000% right, if Bo picks the right time to run, Watch Out!!! Great Post! Edit: your post really goes to some of the mental things I want to see Bo mature on. I don't want him with happy feet breaking the pocket to early using his legs and making ad-hock plays when he could have stayed settled in the pocket and stuck with the play. But part of that growth will be seeing when the coverage went with his receivers on their routes, and he can take off for 25 yards. If Bo plays smart, he is set up with this offense scheme and talent -

The offense has us fired up! But so does Lanning's defense, and that's coming! -

Another great point! I briefly made comment to our depth- but as you say our depth guys are real dudes themselves. I'm fired up for football, so is Charles! We are going to bring it this month! The articles I'm writing is what I'd be talking with my Duck buds, and I've found a bunch more here. -

Great comment. The slot dudes are Legit! -
Nolan Smith the OLB/Edge for UGA was the #1 ranked player in in 2019. Kelee Ringo the DB was the # 4 player in his class. You can go with Jalen Carter as the best Dawg but that can be debated, it's a pick your poison out of the three we will see week one, all three will be 1st round picks in my book.

How High Can Dillingham’s Ducks Fly?
DazeNconfused replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Last year I was done with Mario holding our offense back. I told two of my Duck buds I wanted to give Lane Kiffin 45 million on a 3-year contract that was like a bounty to get us to the Payoffs. I felt we had the offensive talent to get there and needed an offensive coach. My buds thought I was nuts and he would bail for the NFL if he got us to the playoffs, but I was fine with that I just didn't want to waste this offensive talent. I also wanted to chase Tom Herman, and Kalen DeBoer was third on that offensive guy list of current head coaches. If we went the route of promoting a Coordinator, I wanted Kiffin's OC Jeff Lebby or Dan Lanning, they were my let's go young guys. If we went the Vet Coordinator, I wanted the Oakie St DC Knowles who ended up moving to The OSU . As it turned out we got the hottest young defensive mind in college football with Lanning, his hire of Dilly gives us one of the hottest upcoming offensive minds. Dilly is going to give us a huge boost from what we have been. We did really well in this coaching change and it's more sustainable than my 45 million Lane Kiffin half-cocked pipe dream. lol -

Don't worry Happy. I call balls and strikes as I see them. I'm sure my story Thursday next week will ruffle a few Duck feathers, but it will be eye opening, and we can have a good discussion here on the forum. -
I'm sure someone has already floated that idea. The counter is it will make players feel like they can lead with the head and be safe. If we see it, I suspect it will start at the youth level first as concussion for kids is worse than adults far as the long-term. We have come a long way, for baseball coaching a HS prep team I had to take a concussion class and get the cert to coach. I'm sure the youth football concussion stuff is even more robust.

Smith72, HappyToBeADuck, and Log Haulin... Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed the article! I really feel like this offense is loaded and I been saying for months I'm worried we may be QB limited. But with our talent and Dillys scheme you don't have to be Joe Burrow to have sucess! A QB just needs to be good, you don't have to be great. I know my Bo Nix article dug into his short coming the last three years, some thought maybe too much. I wanted to establish for fans that Bo has some Red Flags. But you can see in this article I go into why Bo can have success. I have more Duck football articles on both sides of the ball that play off each other coming this month. -

I'll say it again, Charles and I have Duck football articles that play off each other and will set readers up for the season kickoff. Don't miss Charles's Monday article, matter of fact don't miss any FishDuck article! -
The first pic is flowe looking jacked. Then Jackson LaDuke and Trikweze Bridges, Patrick Herbs is the guy in the background with the knee brace DJ Johnson switched to #2 and Seve McGee is #7 this year. The three QBs in the red jerseys #13 Ty, #10 Bo, #9 Butters with TE group and RB's. #88 Herbs, #8 Matavao. I think that's the S&T Jordan Love coach with a beard?? #49 is Camden Lewis, #91 must be one of the new kickers. The last two pics your you need a roster to know who is in what jersey. I hate they let the player change numbers each year because the first few games it throws me off. I know DJ, Seven, Ty, Kris Hutson, Isaah Crocker, and Bennett Williams changed numbers off the top of my head. Probably more. I'll make a list of the starters and subs who changed numbers so the first game I can tell who is in the game. Happens every year EDIT! Mase Funa switched his number from 47 and I got no idea what his is rocking now. It takes homework preseason to get it straight

Riley at USC is still going to draw elite QBs. He's put Mayfield, Murry and Hurts into the NFL, good QBs will come to him
-
Texas atM has signed six DL/Edge guys who are five-stars in the last two classes. On top of that they have three more dudes who were Top 100 and three more who are four stars. So, they got 12 dudes the last two years on the line. Last year they signed 18 Top 100 players with eight of them five stars! They got four five-star DL, two five -star WR, a five-star CB and QB. Trust me they stocked up other positions with the rest of the Top 100 kids. If I'm an elite QB and want to win a Natty I would look really hard at the Aggies as they have the most loaded DL in all of football and also have dudes at LB and DB also. USC might have lots of skill guys, but they don't have the defense guys like the Aggies.

Regarding Bo Nix: Beware ‘Bandwagon Buy-In’
DazeNconfused replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Thanks, TKK! I think Nix with all his game experience HAS to be the game one starter. We got to give Nix a shot being back in Dillys system to see how he does having Cardwell as a feature back, our strong Oline, WR talent. It could be that Bo takes his game to a higher level and I will be the first to give him credit. If he struggles, then I'm sure we will have that discussion. -

Are you mocking Mario for the timeout he called before a snap in his first game, or is that just stuck in my head? haha -

Look guys it's an opinion piece. My opinion is that Bo Nix hasn't been very good. If that bothers you, then I'm sorry. But I'm hoping Nix has a great year, I'm not looking to be proven right! Go Ducks! -

I expect the results to match the talent on the roster and that will be a reflection of a coaching staff getting the most out of what it has. Mario was a do less with more guy.
