  1. That Washington St game had me on the edge of my seat. Apologies, I had a slight error with the quoting. I’ll blame it on fat thumbs
  2. I give Lanning an A so far. I’m discounting the GA game bc there were many variables working against the Ducks that day. 1st time this and that ext… Plus playing against a very good team that played very well that day. It was the perfect storm for a disastrous start, and possibly unavoidable that particular day. That being said, the rebound has been spectacular. The Ducks look strong. I’m 100% sure that what happened on Sept 3 will not even come close to happening again, no matter who the Ducks play. Yes, they certainly need to clean up the penalties but this team has great potential. I know it’s cliche but I honestly believe the only team left on the schedule that can beat the Ducks is the Ducks. GO DUCKS!!!
  3. Gotta say, I’m impressed and excited about the Ducks running game. Great depth at RB and a talented O-line paving the way. What’s not to like? Right now Bucky is my favorite, dude is running hard. From what I’ve read Cardwell is the most talented, can’t wait to see him when he is healthy. And then you got Whittington and James. 4 very good RBs. I have been very impressed with true freshman James. Tough runner, he is good now, will be very good or great in the future. I was hoping he was gonna be a Bulldog, glad he is a Duck though.
  4. This article and this thread represent one of the many reasons I enjoy being a member of this forum. I consider myself a fairly knowledgeable CFB fan, yet try as I might my knowledge in this area has its limits. I’ve read many explanations of schemes or plays in my short time here on OBD forum and my understanding of the game is better for it. Don’t get me wrong, I’m certainly not football illiterate, but I’m also certainly not a professional in the field. I absolutely appreciate those who have taken the time to share their knowledge. It makes watching even that more interesting and entertaining.
  5. Yes penalties are a problem. Hopefully not chronic. And yes, I absolutely have a problem with the horse collar call and the illegal man down field calls. As far as I remember the replay never showed a man lineman downfield, perhaps I missed it. The false start calls were legit though, and many happened in the red zone. I love the o-line, but they need to clean this up. You can’t get behind the chains bc of penalties in the red zone.
  6. I agree, TT certainly hasn’t displayed confidence on the field yet this season. He has looked a bit like a deer in the headlights. Hopefully this is just a symptom of his age and lack of experience and reps. I imagine Bo has taken almost all of the reps with the 1’s to this point just to make sure he is comfortable in a new system. In the meantime, yeah maybe it’s time for JB to get some work in. What I’m really hoping is that Oregon dominates early in so many games that TT and JB get ample opportunities to show who they are. I also agree that the Ducks could be in trouble if BN goes down. At least the line is protecting him very well. I love his attitude, but he needs to learn to slide. No unnecessary hits!!!
  7. Yeah, and I’m not saying BN shouldn’t run, but the coaches certainly need to put emphasis on him taking as few hits as possible. No running with a LB mentality unless the game is on the line. Get down or out of bounds. As for TT, I think it’s way too early to give up on him. Maybe JB should get some opportunities, but honestly you kinda just have to trust that the coaches know what they are doing.
  8. They also have to travel to Baton Rouge and Oxford. Either could prove tough road games. Aside from that, Bama has games against aTm and Miss. St. and their annual rivalry game with Auburn. Auburn has won this game many times over the years when they shouldn’t.
  9. Yeah, that makes sense. And while I think it’s likely that Clemson easily wins out, I don’t think it’s likely that both GA and Bama win out in the RS. Clemson has certainly been deserving of making the playoff in the past, but they have also had by far the easiest path to the playoff since in began. GA and Bama have to navigate tough SEC schedules. I believe GA has the easier schedule and is more likely to win out, but it’s certainly not a given. IMO Bama has a very demanding schedule left to play. The SEC west is brutal. I do absolutely agree that if they both win out and meet undefeated in the SECCG, they both make the playoff. It will be almost impossible to argue that either of them isn’t deserving.
  10. I hate to say it, but the Ducks will need some help. At least one SEC team goes, Clemson will go if they win out (and honestly, who will beat them?), very likely a Big 10 team goes. This only leaves one spot to fight over. I think if the Ducks win out in a fairly dominating fashion, there is a decent chance. To increase their odds they will need for there to be only 1 SEC team with 1 or less losses (preferably GA considering the first game), a two loss Big 12 champ would help also, and the main thing that could help Oregon other than itself is if somehow Clemson were to lose. CFB is unpredictable at best, often times completely unforeseen things happen. It’s still early. Who knows what things will look like in December? If we knew that we could all be wealthy before Christmas. The Ducks have a decent shot, just win and don’t worry. IMO, some of the reasons above represent 1 of the reasons why the playoff is being expanded. With only 4, every year a few deserving teams get left out.
  11. Agree, looked like he didn’t mean to hit the guy. Got to pay better attention though .
