Welcome to the B1G
Thanks for the welcome. Hopefully, Oregon does not adjust its style to fit the B1G. Our goal is to win a national championship so that means building a program capable of beating the top SEC teams. We tried the “3 yards and a cloud of dust” with the prior coach and it did not work out well (other than the victory over tOSU in the shoe). Hopefully Dan Lanning and company can get the defense on the same level as the offense.

Reports: Oregon Leaving Pac-12 for B1G
It’s a sad day for a West coast college sport fan. I was hoping that the PAC could land a TV agreement that was at least on par with the Big XII and stay afloat. The Apple deal carries too much risk for the future of Oregon athletics, with the lack of linear TV coverage for exposure (e.g., recruits, pollsters, fans). I’m not sure that this new college athletic landscape is sustainable. Geography does matter. Hopefully Cal and Stanford will be added to the B1G to form a west coast pod in the not too distant future.

Beavers Pretty Unhappy with Oregon...'File Lawsuits!'
Bill’s entire premise is false. There are many programs who are in different conferences that maintain an annual rivalry game (e.g., Florida/Florida State, Georgia/Georgia Tech, Clemson/South Carolina, USC/Notre Dame). Why couldn’t Oregon and Oregon State do the same? Buy out some of the OOC games in the next couple of years to make it happen sooner.

Beavers Pretty Unhappy with Oregon...'File Lawsuits!'
Oregon State and Washington State belong in the Mountain West based on the size of their stadiums, location, fan following, recruits and on field success. They would have a better shot at the playoffs in another conference.

Canzano: Conference Demise Hinges on Oregon
There is a lot of blame to go around for the demise of the PAC-9/10/12 but I’m not sure how you could blame Oregon unless you expect UO to sacrifice tens of millions of dollars per year in revenue, TV exposure and consequently a steadily declining program. That is a lot to ask a program, who has invested heavily over the years, to sacrifice to save the conference and I’m not sure if that would even be enough since every program is now looking out for their own interests. Arizona is likely gone and the remaining 4 corner schools are likely to follow. I would place the blame on the following (in no particular order): • PAC-12 Leadership: Larry Scott and the PAC-12 CEO Group • Fox and the LA schools for stabbing the PAC-12 in the back • ESPN and the other media networks for lowballing and locking the conference out of linear TV • Other PAC-12 programs for not investing in the success of their football programs to create more national/regional interest Right now the decisions are being made by B1G and Big XII, not by Oregon.

Wowsa! New Added: Oregon to B1G? USC Feels BETRAYED!
The rumors were that the B1G wanted USC and Oregon initially. Fox wanted UCLA for the LA media market.

Arizona Board of Regents Meeting 8/3/23
This would be my hope as well. It would preserve traditional rivalries, while adding some intriguing new match-ups and cutting down on travel. Oregon and Washington could schedule annual home-and-home with the state schools to preserve those rivalries.

Conference Realignment: When Do They Ask the FANS What THEY Want?
The UCLA fans/alumni that I know are not happy about the move but are also aware how much their AD needs the money. The USC alumni that I know seem to be thrilled about the move and do not mind that they stabbed their former conference mates in the back.

Oregon on the 'Verge' of B1G Formal Conversations
I would hope that Oregon is exploring every potential option from staying in the Pac to joining another conference (B1G, Big XII, SEC) to forming an alliance/merger with the ACC to going independent. It’s clear that leadership will not come from the PAC-12 commish or CEO group.

This Sucks: B1G May Look at Oregon/Washington After All
Sorry, Nevada Dawg but I see things a bit differently. The SEC stealing Texas and Oklahoma from the Big XII (and Fox) was the first domino to fall in the current conference realignment. Texas and Okhoma were by far the biggest, most successful programs in the Big XII and Fox got their revenge on ESPN by working backdoor channels to help the B1G steal the LA schools from the Pac-12.

Colorado Buffaloes Stampede
If this is true, then it's piss poor leadership by the Pac-12's commissioner. It makes sense not to share the numbers and deal framework publicly but I was under the impression that Kliavkoff was providing his bosses (the University Presidents) with frequent updates. With all of the uncertainty and rumors, did he believe that keeping them close to the vest until there was a final agreement was the right play? Colorado has done nothing for the Pac-12 since they joined the conference.

Oregon Ducks Football: Nate Frazier in Ducks’ Sights
Watching Frazier’s tape, he reminded me of Jeremiah Johnson. Appears to have good hands coming out of the backfield and likes to get to the edge where he can use his speed. Not a shifty, tough runner inside the tackles.

Pac-12 Questions and a Few About OBD?
I’m hopeful that the defense will take a giant stride forward this year with another year of experience in the scheme and the transfer portal additions. It appeared that Lanning took more control of the D late last season and I hope that continues into this season. Oregon’s success this year will depend on keeping Bo Nix healthy. I’m not confident in the backup QBs.

Is It Reasonable for Oregon to Reach Top 5 in Recruiting This Year?
It doesn’t appear that Lanning and company chase stars like other coaches out there (e.g., see the “under the radar” RB that just committed). Hopefully the coaches prove to be great at evaluating talent and coaching them up to reach their maximum potential.

CEO Group via Canzano on Pac-12 Media Deal: 'It Will Be Worth the Wait'
If Oregon’s primary objective is to win a national championship (vs. simply chasing the media dollars, given Oregon’s athletic department already operates with a significant annual operating surplus), as the alleged consulting report indicated, then they will need the exposure that broadcast television provides until/if streaming becomes the norm for college football fans, media and voters. Adoption of streaming may be slower in other parts of the country (vs. out West). Hopefully, the PAC-12 can sign a deal that provides the best of both worlds (e.g., sell the most attractive game(s) of the week to broadcast T.V. to maximize exposure) while streaming the other games.

Paul Finebaum Predicts Pac-12 Will Collapse by 2026
I respectfully disagree. It’s not all about recruiting. If it were, the B1G would be looking to add Texas and/or Florida programs next. The B1G was focused on maximizing its TV value. That’s why they went after the LA schools (the second largest U.S. market). If the B1G wants to compete with the SEC, then they should be adding programs that can compete for national titles.

That’s a BOLD prediction. Love it!

Bye Bye CFP for USC in 2024 as Schedule of Games Released
LOL. UCLA has to play Ohio State, Michigan and USC in 2024. Good luck with your sophomore QB.

Canzano: Pac-12 Teams Agree on "Grant of Rights"
I would be surprised if any of the top PAC-12 programs signed a grant of rights without knowing the TV deal, unless it was contingent on thresholds being met or exceeded.

Big Ten, Big 12 or ACC?
The schools apply for membership so a lawsuit would be unlikely, IMO.

Draft To Date Tells the Tale of Today's Pac-12
The top 2 picks in the 2023 NFL draft were both Southern California high school football players that decided to play for Alabama (Bryce Young, Mater Dei) and Ohio State (CJ Stroud, Rancho Cucamonga). The Pac-12 has to start by keeping top West Coast high school football players in the conference.

Transfer Portal Interests for Ducks
With Bo Nix at QB, Oregon is in win now mode. Bring in whomever can help us win a conference championship and make the playoffs. Obviously Oregon’s coaches have observed Bryant and believe that he can help the team.

Canzano: Oregon Ducks Should Welcome the Bronny James Show
I haven’t watched Bronny play and don’t know anything about his character/work ethic but I believe that Altman needs to get back to recruiting players who put the team before themselves, are willing to work/play hard, are coach able, are good teammates and representatives of the University of Oregon, and are willing to play for Oregon for 3-4 years. Maybe that means a roster full of 3 and 4 star players with an occasional 5 star who is a good fit. Whatever he has been trying to do the past 2-3 years has not been working. If Bronny fits the above mold, then I would welcome him to Eugene. If not, I wish him well elsewhere.

Oregon's Sad and Bad Out-of-Conference (OOC) Scheduling
Not to mention, Oregon has had some success recruiting in Texas. Playing some games in or near Texas will be a positive for those player’s families and help future recruiting in the area.
