So use a scholarship, when we are already over the limit, on a special teams player? Still puzzled...

I’m honestly a little puzzled by this pickup. Given our scholarship situation, returning players and the Iowa LB transfer, why are we taking a backup linebacker from ASU with 37 total tackles and zero sacks over 3 years? What am I missing?

Lanning has proven to to be just as good of a recruiter as our previous head coaches and is already a better game day coach than Mario (not a high bar). He just needs to be a little more conservative for going for it on 4th down, particularly on Oregon’s side of the field.

Sewell is playing with too much weight, IMO. He needs to slim down to ~230 lbs. and work on his coverage skills. I’m rooting for the young man, but if he is not a day 1 or 2 selection, he should have come back for his senior year to work on the above to improve his draft stock. Oregon did not miss a beat in the Holiday Bowl at linebacker and we have a STUD coming in next year from Iowa.

With the expanded college football playoffs and the perception of the remaining teams, I think it might be beneficial to play more conference games. Perhaps eliminate the conference championship game because it seems to do more harm than good for team’s playoff aspirations? They are only good for the $$$.

Depending on the severity of the NCAA penalties, with the transfer portal, it could be like the “death sentence” for a school. Not saying that this would be the case for a school like Michigan but what if the majority of the roster decided to transfer out because of the penalties (e.g., bowl/post-season bans). That could set a program back years and some programs may never recover. Just something to ponder in the new world of college sports.

I can’t believe that defensive players are still lowering their heads when tackling. How many years has targeting been in effect? How hard is it to look up when tackling? I think they need to revisit the rules when the offensive player starts to go down and the hit to the head is inadvertent. However intentionally leading with the crown/lowering your head has no place in the modern game.

It would be nice to get pressure on the QB and/or a sack on 3rd and long by rushing 4... Georgia should also keep running the ball. They are getting huge chunks.

Oregon's mens basketball team is terrible. I can't watch them play anymore. Perhaps I'll try again later in the season once they get the injured players back.

Two terrible calls on this OSU drive - a missed false start by the RB and that PI call in the endzone. TD Pac-12 refs!!! Perhaps they are auditioning for the BIG?

It's a fun bowl but they need to do something about the field conditions. Looks like they really took care of the teams with visits to Sea World, the U.S. naval base, etc. The Vegas bowl should be higher on the Pac pecking order, IMO.
