  1. Best in Class: A look at college basketball's 25 best incoming recruiting hauls The final top 150 player rankings for the class of 2023 was released on Thursday with Duncanville (Texas) High forward Ron Holland taking over the top spot. While there was change in the individual rankings, John Calipari and Kentucky continue to hang on to the top spot in the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Team Rankings. Who else has the top classes in the land? Today we take a look at the top 25 recruiting classes for 2023. 9. Oregon The class: PF Kwame Evans Jr., PG Jackson Shelstad and SF Mookie Cook. What to expect: At Oregon, Dana Altman and the Ducks are welcoming a recruiting class that includes a pair of McDonald’s All-Americans in Evans and Cook and point guard coming off of a great senior year in Shelstad. Evans has all kinds of length, size and fluidity for a four man, unlocking his inner beast could turn him into a massive steal. Shelstad moved himself into the national top 25 by bulking up, turning into a mid-range assassin and becoming a real Alpha leader. A native of the Portland area like Shelstad, Cook is a versatile wing who could be a big time defender and open floor playmaker if he will get to campus and lock in. In Georgia transfer Kario Oquendo the Ducks are getting an athletic driver and they are adding even more wing athleticism with the addition of Arizona State transfer Devan Cambridge. 8. How the potential addition of Gary Bryant Jr. could impact the Ducks; offense Since the transfer portal opened a few weeks ago, many college football players around the country have packed their bags and begun setting up shop with their new teams. The Oregon Ducks have had some notable signings in the portal this offseason, such as Jordan Burch and Ajani Cornelius, and they added TE Casey Kelly from this most recent portal window as well. Even though most of the high-quality transfer targets have already signed with new schools, there are still a few gems that have yet to be picked up. One of those is Gary Bryant Jr, a former 4-star WR that was at USC for three seasons before deciding to it was time to move on. Although he hasn’t announced where he’ll play his 2023 football, 247Sports’ “crystal ball” predicts Bryant to sign with the Ducks later this May. 12. What to watch for in the final week of the Pac-12 softball regular season Can Oregon keep winning? The Ducks are flying high right now, reeling off 13 straight wins heading into their final regular-season series vs. No. 24 Utah. Their pitching trio of Stevie Hansen, Morgan Scott and Raegan Breedlove has posted a 1.17 ERA over that stretch. Meanwhile, catcher Terra McGowan and utility Allee Bunker were voted the Pac-12 Player of the Week the last two weeks thanks to their hot bats. Tied with Washington in second place, the Ducks have a chance to secure their highest finish in the Pac-12 since 2018 when they won the Conference, and have put themselves in position to be among the 16 teams to host an NCAA Regional, currently ranking 13th in the latest NFCA poll and 16th in RPI. A series win over the Utes could cement the Ducks' case. A deep run in the inaugural Pac-12 Softball Tournament in Tucson next week wouldn't hurt, either. 14. Oregon baseball hopes to continue USC's struggles with Northwest teams The Pac-12 season is heading down the homestretch with just three weekend series remaining. Oregon is battling to host a regional in the NCAA tournament and the Ducks’ upcoming opponent, USC, is squarely on that bubble. This weekend’s matchup in Los Angeles is important for different reasons for both teams. The Trojans seem to be two teams, a good one at home (20-5) and a bad one on the road (4-13-1). With the Ducks going to Dedeaux Field to play the good USC team, we just had to go to TrojansWire’s Matt Zemek to see what’s the deal with this Trojan team with that Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde mentality. Here is his brief scouting report. 19. Agreeing what all is saying in here. Sorry all, John Canzano's article is behind a paywall, but the portion you can see is the following: The disinformation campaign aimed at the Pac-12 Conference jump-started again on Wednesday. CBS Sports reported from the Fiesta Summit spring meetings in Arizona that ESPN was “out” as a Tier 1 option for the Pac-12 Conference’s media rights. “Murky future,” said the headline. “If ESPN is not interested,” read the body of the piece, “… there doesn't appear to be an obvious brand-name suitor for the league.” Among the unnamed sources mentioned in the report was a “Big 12 administrator” who offered in a quote that this was the first time ESPN had publicly confirmed that it wanted nothing to do with the Pac-12’s primary rights. Trouble is, it wasn’t accurate. Again, this is all I can see. Canzano: Disinformation campaign vs. Pac-12 is tired WWW.JOHNCANZANO.COM Underbelly of college athletics is getting ugly.
