Oregon AD: Supportive of New Championship Game
Tandaian replied to Smith72's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The Pac 12 shouldn't be concerned with the B1G TEN, however if keeping 9 conference games, keeps the B1G TEN happy that eventually hamstrings the SEC, then so be it. Dead horse, all P5 conferences should have the same number of conference games. -
I'm not a Saban fan, but I loved how he called out Texas A&M(Jimbo) and Jacksonville St. (Deion). As far as we know neither school broke any rules, but they absolutely bought players. Alabama bought players. Just about every school has bought players with the new NIL deals. The venom both responded to Nick, kind has me feeling they might not be on the up and up with everything. Should have just responded, we are using the new NIL guidelines to our advantage.

Pac 12 - 12 teams B1G TEN - 14 teams Big 12 - 14 teams in 2023 & 2024, 12 in 2025 ACC - 14 teams plus ND SEC - 14 teams in 2022-24, 16 in 2025 Even with every conference playing the same number of conference games, the schedules will never be equal. With "rules" being in place requiring teams to play other teams within a certain number of years, conferences can't make up the schedule every year to ensure as equal scheduling as possible. At the very least, every conference should play the same number of conference games as the others to be eligible to be part of the CFB. B1G TEN and Pac 12 and Big 12 all play 9. Make that part of the deal. ACC is a lean towards 9 league games. ACC needs the rest of the conferences big time, so put pressure on them to put help put pressure on the SEC. SEC is the big dog, but they can't go solo. The G5 will follow whatever path they will be given. I have no idea why the Pac 12, ACC, B1G TEN and Big 12 don't reign in the SEC this next go around. If they tried to move away from the other power 5 conferences, they'd be done in 4 seasons.

Baseball America has Oregon the 2nd seed in the #8 regional vs Auburn. Which puts them about 25th ranked team. Not sure the Ducks can move up 9 spots to host as the 16th seed even with a sweep of Arizona. However, it is always good to go into the post season on a positive note, so a sweep would be really nice!

What Do YOU Consider Success for Oregon Football in 2022?
Tandaian replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Based on the last few seasons, the only teams the Ducks have around 50/50 or more chance to lose to are UGA, BYU, UCLA and Utah. As history shows, they could lose to any team at any time, but the floor to this season should be 8-4. I'd like to see improvements with penalties, special teams, O scheme and D scheme. Give me 8-4 and improvements in those 4 areas and I will consider it a successful season. -
I get the football and basketball teams shouldn't feel obligated to pay for other sports. However, it is the world we live in. I don't know the correct answer, but football and basketball should get something extra. Maybe, the NIL is that something extra. Those sports, so far have been the main recipients of NIL deals.

NIL World--It's a Full-Blown Race to the Bottom Now
Tandaian replied to Steven A's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I just now saw this from a 5/9/22 article. Member schools received new guidelines Monday saying that boosters or collectives who contact recruits or sign athletes to contracts that are contingent upon a player's attendance at a particular school are breaking NCAA rules. NCAA Division I Board of Directors releases new NIL guidelines regarding involvement of boosters WWW.ESPN.COM The NCAA's Division I Board of Directors on Monday published new name, image and likeness guidelines to clarify that boosters should not have any contact with prospective college athletes, their... Interesting... A booster signs a kid to go to their school, but then they transfer to another school. I'm assuming, they will be signing 3 month deals, 6 months, 1 year deals? -
Money is nice and all, but I'm sure the players still think a lot about scheme, culture, fit, etc...

Athlon Sports Says Utah Will Be 2022 Pac-12 Champions?
Tandaian replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Whittingham is a great coach and out coaches most other teams, but he just doesn't have the talent to get to the next level. Utah's best class was #33. They have been between 33 and 50 since they have entered the Pac 12 in 2011. He has been coaching in the Pac 12 for 11 season and has only won 10+ games 3 times. Mario was in the league for 4 seasons and had 10+ wins 3 times. Chris Petersen was in the league for 6 seasons and had 10+ wins 3 times. If you don't have the talent it is very hard to be elite. Honestly, only Chip Kelly was able to be elite with less talent during his run at Oregon. His offensive scheme made the difference. Now, his scheme is old news and isn't enough to over come the talent gap. Whittingham has never won back to back 10 win seasons. He has been close with a string of 9+ wins, but maybe this will be the year. I have a feeling Utah is going to have banana peel games this year. Losing to BYU and San Diego St. in games 2 and 3 really had them playing with no pressure for the rest of the season last year. Starting ranked in the top 10-15 and the "lead" Pac 12 team is going to be a lot for the players and Whittingham. -
4 teams for 5 conferences doesn't work, however it does limit the money pouring into the SEC. If we go to 8-12 teams and there isn't a cap on money going to a conference, the bias for SEC teams will make it 2 or 3 times worse. The SEC is the only team to have 2 teams make the playoff in the same year. I'm not going to count ND and Clemson in the COVID season. If we go to 8 with the 5 top ranked conference champs given an automatic birth, the SEC is going to pull in more teams on average because of the SEC bias. ESPN rankings before bowls 2021: Alabama, UGA, Michigan, tOSU, Cincy, Pitt, ND, Baylor 2020: Alabama, Florida, tOSU, Iowa St. Oklahoma, USC, Clemson, ND 2019: LSU, UGA, tOSU, Wisconsin, Oregon, Oklahoma, Clemson, Baylor 2018: Alabama, UGA, tOSU, Michigan, Washington, Oklahoma, Clemson, ND B1G TEN and SEC both would have averaged 2 teams per year the last 4 seasons. Move to 12 and the SEC will likely average 3 teams and maybe 4. The first 2 teams, from each conference, get full money credit, but then there has to be a decrease for each additional team. Also, ND should never get a full payout. Join a league already! This article, How Much Money Can An Expanded College Football Playoff Generate? ATHLETICDIRECTORU.COM AthleticDirectorU and Navigate present financial projections for an expanded 12-team College Football Playoff (CFP). says the SEC would have averaged 400+ mil with a 12 team playoff, the B1G TEN 300+ mil with a 12 team playoff. The SEC are the big boys at the table, but if they don't have the rest of college football, they are insigificant.

College Football Coaches to Propose Transfer-Portal Windows
Tandaian replied to Tandaian's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Pocketchange, I agree. Schools and coaches need to be held up to standards too. When a school fires a coach mid season or a coach leaves mid season, what does that show the kids. My preference would be unless a coach breaks a law, they can't be fired until after the regular season. The coaching carousel also leads to chaos. Schools, coaches and players need to be held to similar standards. -

Not too many mansions in Eugene. Checking out Zillow and only 15 homes for sale for more than 1 mil. Then if he wants a house in town, the number drops dramatically.
