  1. So, those are revenues, not TV contracts. 2021 each Pac 12 team brought in more money than ACC and Big 12. Comparing apples to oranges. Numbers from 2021. ACC: 17 mil per school Big 12: 20 mil per school Pac 12: 21 mil per school B1G Ten: 31.4 mil per school SEC: 44 mil per school The numbers above are unfortunately a straight out lie. Every conference brings in more money just from their TV contract, perhaps he at the very least is misusing the term revenue. Maybe, he is trying to say projected net income for each conference? Revenue is only positive money, it doesn't include costs.
  2. Fingers crossed it is the wild wild west at the moment, but will settle down in 5 or so years. Boosters typically have money because they have made smart decisions. I think when all these kids don't see the field or transfer after 1 season, they will see the writing on the wall and not spend so much money. I believe there will still be plenty of money out there, but I think the flat everybody gets cash is going to go away. Plus, every other professional league has rules about money being spent and player movement. I find it hard to believe college will be the only entity that has unlmited spending and moving of players. NCAA only has to point at every other proefessional sports league to get the Supreme Court to regein in some of this craziness. These are endorsements, so it makes it a bit harder, but I think there is a way where TXA&M can't spend 30 mil, while WSU spends 15K.
  3. Having a stronger conference in the eyes outside of the conference matters. Everybody mentions SEC being the toughest conference and send the most kids to the NFL. I'd say B1G TEN is next in line and for the last few years Big 12 is next. If USC, Utah and Oregon can be consistent top 15 teams, that helps with the eye test. Maybe, Pac 12 would no longer be left out if they had a conference loss. Having a strong USC and Utah does make it harder for Oregon to continually win the Pac 12, but it helps the conference not look like a 1 team conference.
  4. FOX and ESPN have contracts with the Big 12. ACC has a contract with ESPN. Pac 12 has a contract with FOX and ESPN. The Pac 12 doesn't need to go a separate way from FOX and ESPN, however I would love to see what CBS wants to offer. The 55 mil was way back in 2001 and for 1 football game a week. We can't know one way or another if the Pac 12 should have finished off the Big 12, yet. The Big 12 had the 4th largest TV deal after SEC, B1G and Pac 12 with Texas and Oklahoma. Losing Texas and Oklahoma isn't likely to increase their TV deal. I do think stream is part of TV, so we need to make sure the Pac 12 is available on all platforms. I'd try and make a deal with FOX, ESPN, CBS and a streaming service. Maybe, even NBC as well. The ND games are getting half the ratings as other ND games on other channels, so maybe they want to try and have a more consistent game day viewership. Having so many TV channels would be a mess for the conference and fans, but get everybody involved and see what you can get.
  5. I'm more disappointed in the men, than the women. The guys haven't been hit nearly as hard with injuries as the women. I think our women have had maybe 5 games with a full team. Losing to ASU is not good, but they are firmly in March Madness. The men according to ESPN are in, but literally the last team in.
  6. There are different types of 380 lbs guys. Can he move?
  7. I'd say most of the NIL contracts are somewhat public. I don't think it would be hard to piece together the price TXAM paid in NIL deals.
  8. Yankees and Dodgers have been outspending teams for 20 years. Each team only has 1 WS title since 2001. It definitely helps having the Jimmy and the Joe's, but they still have to play the game. Otherwise, Alabama would never lose a game.
  9. The new Pac 12 commish has mentioned mulitple times he is looking at reducing conference games down to 8.
  10. Guys look at fit of play style and personality. I'm guessing Gracen felt one or the other or something else wasn't there at Oregon. Not everybody will feel like Oregon is a destination for them.
  11. I'm a Sigma Nu, class of 2000. We always had a yearly toga party. Sigma Nu has a new house at 1851 Onyx St.
  12. It isn't perfect, but I'm OK with how OT works in the NFL. Buffalo had 9 possessions during regulation and they scored on 5 of them. KC had the ball 10 times in regulation and scored on 7 of them. They played 60 minutes before OT. If Buffalo forces KC to run the kickoff back just before OT, they take at least 4 seconds off the board and that removes 1 play. In OT all Buffalo needs to do is not allow a TD and they get the ball back.
  13. The 3 major recruiting sites have their own reason for rankings and they don't always have to do with skill. There are some TBD, but our track record has not been good with 5 stars. We have been much better with 4 and 3 star guys. 24/7 Duck recruits who were 5 stars. 2004 Malik Hariston 117 games played, averaged 14.1 pts, 5.1 rpg, 2.1 ast 2008 Michael Dunigan 57 games played, averaged under 9 points and 5 rebounds 2011 Jabari Brown 2 games played, averaged 6 points 2017 Troy Brown 35 games, averaged 11.3 pts, 6.2 RPG, 3.2 AST 2018 Bol Bol 9 games, 21 pts, 9.6 reb 2018 Louis King 31 games, 13.5 pts, 5.5 rpg, 1.3 ast 2019 CJ Walker 28 games, 4.0 pts, 2.5 rpg for Oregon, 37 so far for UCF 8.5 pts, 5.5 rpg, 1.1 ast 2019 N'Faly Dante 33 games, 8.3 pts, 5.5 rpg, .9 blk 2021 Nathan Bittle 13 games, 1.3 pts, 1.7 rpg, .8 blk 2022 Kel'el Ware 2022 Dior Johnson
  14. I would move back to one signing date in February. Early enrollment is still possible, but would likely have to be altered a bit. You wouldn't want a student to enroll early, get hurt and the school not offer the scholarship. In a perfect world, no coach or player could leave during the regular season. That would include being fired, unless under extreme circumstances.
  15. I have done zero research, but I suspect what the men and women basketball teams did this weekend has never been done before by any two basketball programs in D-1 college basketball. In 5 days/same weekend both teams beat two top 10 opponents. 1/13/2022 MBB @ UCLA #3 84-81w 1/15/2022 WBB vs Arizona #7 68-66w 1/15/2022 MBB @ USC #5 79-69w 1/17/2022 WBB vs Uconn #9 72-59w
  16. They are only rumors, but Arizona players and coaches all say Kelly Graves was not behaving like and adult during their game. There was an incident at the end of their game that had the Arizona coach giving the 1 finger salute to Kelly. Both Arizona players and coaches were saying he was continually cussing towards the Arizona bench. With the Arizona coach also giving the 1 finger salute last year, it makes it just a bit more difficult to believe. No word on if the Pac 12 is investigating the incident(s). If Kelly was cussing at the Arizona bench, that isn't a good look.
  17. I like the regular season meaning something. As much as I dislike the Patriots, when they went 16-0 in the regular season and ending up losing to the Giants in the SB, I thought it was a let down. I personally don't like "bad" teams getting hot. Example, UCLA last year during their NCAA run. I do however think the CFB should expand. I think nearly every professional league has too many playoff teams. NBA 20/30 make the playoffs 66% MLS 14/27 make the playoffs 51.8% NHL 16/32 make the payoffs 50% NFL 14/32 make the playoffs 43.8% MLB 10/30 make the playoffs 33 NCAA basketball 68/353 make the playoffs 19.26% CFB 4/125 make the playoffs 3.2% 12 would still leave the percentage of teams under 10%, I guess 12 isn't really all that many.
  18. I'm a bit tired of the Stanford academic requirements being used as an issue for them. For the most part, yes they have high standards, but not everybody is a 4.0 student with nearly perfect SAT/ACT scores that plays sports for them. Back in the 90's Stanford had at least some classes that allowed you to drop a class up to the final week of the term and not have it count against your GPA. Not sure if they still have those classes around. I honestly don't think their athletes have the same rigourous review. No, they aren't going to accept kids who barely passed high school, but to think every one of their kids is a valedictorian is silly. I think they like using that as an excuse.
  19. My personal way to force Notre Dame to move to a conference is never watch their games on NBC. If a significant number of people stopped watching their games, NBC would stop offering them a contract.
  20. Pac 12, ACC and Big 12 all should worry how the money is split. B1G ten and SEC are already light years ahead in TV money. Having half the teams being made up of B1G and SEC could make the money situation even worse. They can have as many teams as they want, but they can't get a substancially bigger piece of the money pie. I would hope all 3 of those conferences make it known, CFB isn't going to work the same as basketball.
  21. The announcing crew did go back to that Pass Interference and mentioned it was an uncatchable ball. I'm not able to find the NFL rule where it says if it matters if it is catchable or not. I would be OK with giving like a 5 yard penalty for the play that happened, but definitely not a spot foul.
  22. Some stats have been previously mentioned. Most total TDs as a rookie: 36 Most passing TDs as a rookie: 31 Most completions as a rookie: 396 Most 300 yard games as a rookie: 8 1st QB to throw 30+ TDs in their first 2 seasons. Most total TDs in their first 2 seasons: 77 Most passing yards in their first 2 seasons: 9,350 Most passing TDs in their first 2 seasons: 69 Most 300 yard games in their first 2 seasons: 17
  23. Both teams played 60 minutes before OT. I don't think anybody can feel sorry for the team that loses in OT. I hope Staley had the backing of the whole team before last night, because his bone head TO cost his team a playoff spot. I don't believe his comment about needing the correct defensive grouping on the field. He wanted the Raiders to be forced to punt and it blew up big time in his face. I also believe LV would have let the clock run out if Staley didn't call a TO. I get Staley likes to be aggressive, but he doesn't seem to always pick the right moments. Going for it on 4th down on you own 18 in the 3rd quarter was a bad decision. Just a hunch, but if Staley doesn't make the playoffs next season, I think he is going to be fired.
  24. “There’s a lot of other good teams, whether it was their consistency in performance or whatever happened to them in championship games or whatever, that may have had the opportunity to get in the playoffs that didn’t,” Saban said. “I’m not the one that needs to be deciding what the playoff needs to be. There’s a lot of good people out there that can make a decision as to what’s best for college football.” I don't think Saban cares either way. Pulling half a quote, isn't a hard stance IMO.
  25. It is a little crazy at this point, but the rich don't tend to burn money just for the heck of it. They aren't going to want to be continually burned by kids. Getting a kid in the transfer portal likely locks them in for 2 years, but paying High school kids is going to burn many alumni. Kids want to play. Most aren't going to sit on the bench just collecting a paycheck. They'll transfer out to a team they will get playing time. Texas is going to be paying a lot of OL their $50K and see them walk right out the door next season. I think the first few years are going to be absolutely crazy, but fingers crossed it settles down. I think the "super" star guys will always have the money, but OL and 3 guy on the depth chart not so much.
