  1. Money is nice and all, but I'm sure the players still think a lot about scheme, culture, fit, etc...
  2. Whittingham is a great coach and out coaches most other teams, but he just doesn't have the talent to get to the next level. Utah's best class was #33. They have been between 33 and 50 since they have entered the Pac 12 in 2011. He has been coaching in the Pac 12 for 11 season and has only won 10+ games 3 times. Mario was in the league for 4 seasons and had 10+ wins 3 times. Chris Petersen was in the league for 6 seasons and had 10+ wins 3 times. If you don't have the talent it is very hard to be elite. Honestly, only Chip Kelly was able to be elite with less talent during his run at Oregon. His offensive scheme made the difference. Now, his scheme is old news and isn't enough to over come the talent gap. Whittingham has never won back to back 10 win seasons. He has been close with a string of 9+ wins, but maybe this will be the year. I have a feeling Utah is going to have banana peel games this year. Losing to BYU and San Diego St. in games 2 and 3 really had them playing with no pressure for the rest of the season last year. Starting ranked in the top 10-15 and the "lead" Pac 12 team is going to be a lot for the players and Whittingham.
  3. 4 teams for 5 conferences doesn't work, however it does limit the money pouring into the SEC. If we go to 8-12 teams and there isn't a cap on money going to a conference, the bias for SEC teams will make it 2 or 3 times worse. The SEC is the only team to have 2 teams make the playoff in the same year. I'm not going to count ND and Clemson in the COVID season. If we go to 8 with the 5 top ranked conference champs given an automatic birth, the SEC is going to pull in more teams on average because of the SEC bias. ESPN rankings before bowls 2021: Alabama, UGA, Michigan, tOSU, Cincy, Pitt, ND, Baylor 2020: Alabama, Florida, tOSU, Iowa St. Oklahoma, USC, Clemson, ND 2019: LSU, UGA, tOSU, Wisconsin, Oregon, Oklahoma, Clemson, Baylor 2018: Alabama, UGA, tOSU, Michigan, Washington, Oklahoma, Clemson, ND B1G TEN and SEC both would have averaged 2 teams per year the last 4 seasons. Move to 12 and the SEC will likely average 3 teams and maybe 4. The first 2 teams, from each conference, get full money credit, but then there has to be a decrease for each additional team. Also, ND should never get a full payout. Join a league already! This article, How Much Money Can An Expanded College Football Playoff Generate? ATHLETICDIRECTORU.COM AthleticDirectorU and Navigate present financial projections for an expanded 12-team College Football Playoff (CFP). says the SEC would have averaged 400+ mil with a 12 team playoff, the B1G TEN 300+ mil with a 12 team playoff. The SEC are the big boys at the table, but if they don't have the rest of college football, they are insigificant.
  4. Pocketchange, I agree. Schools and coaches need to be held up to standards too. When a school fires a coach mid season or a coach leaves mid season, what does that show the kids. My preference would be unless a coach breaks a law, they can't be fired until after the regular season. The coaching carousel also leads to chaos. Schools, coaches and players need to be held to similar standards.
  5. That picture looks like it is in the south hills. Maybe, McKenzie River area.
  6. College football coaches' association to propose transfer windows WWW.ESPN.COM College football coaches will propose transfer windows in the late fall and spring to help with roster management around the transfer portal. Limiting to two time periods. Todd Berry, executive director of the American Football Coaches Association, said Tuesday his group would like two transfer windows for players to enter their names in the portal: one from the final Sunday in November until the early signing date in mid-December, and another from April 15 to May 1
  7. NFL mock draft 2023 - Todd McShay's early predictions for all 32 first-round picks next year, including five QBs and five more WRs WWW.ESPN.COM Todd McShay makes way-too-early predictions on next year's first round, including landing spots for a handful of QBs, more talented receivers and potential star defenders. 3 UGA players in the 1st round. Sewell also in the 1st round.
  8. Eugene is Track Town USA, so we know all about the Penn Relays. It is a big track event for those in the track world know about.
  9. Not too many mansions in Eugene. Checking out Zillow and only 15 homes for sale for more than 1 mil. Then if he wants a house in town, the number drops dramatically.
  10. Yep, I love Dillon, but that was just a bad play. He was way too far behind to have any chance of making a play. We aren't in the 1980's anymore. I think the 80's and the Piston's run in the early 90's was terrible basketball. I don't want 130-140 scores either, but I want to watch basketball not hockey or WWE. It won't ever happen, but if a player is given a flagrant foul, I would have no problem with the NBA keeping that player out until the injured player is back. Pay suspended for up to 10 games, then after that the player would get paid, but not be able to play. You'd stop terrible decision making on players parts, if you started taking their money away.
  11. We don't know every kids reason for leaving. I only would have liked the DBs back, the others in my opinion saw the writing on the wall and they likely wouldn't have got much play time. Just because they left and didn't get drafted doesn't mean they got bad advice. The advice could have been you are not going to get drafted. They chose to leave early anyway.
  12. I'd like to see the numbers by conference after 5 seasons. I don't think the disparity is quite as big. Starting QBs, RBs and WRs aren't dominated by SEC by any means.
  13. McKinley was ranked 120 from Kiper and around the same with McShay. Both obviously aren't perfect, but being ranked 120 means you should be drafted. McKinley will get URFA contract and stick with a team for a long time. The others may get a contract and be in the league 1 or 2 seasons, but be out after that. Royce Freeman our best recent "NFL" RB is on a 1 year contract with his 3rd NFL teams since going to the NFL. I didn't think Royce was going to be special, but I thought he would have a solid 10 year career. Playing in the NFL is hard. As other have said, maybe all these guys were done with the college experience.
  14. Do the players have to pay the University when their sport doesn't make money? Football, Men's basketball and some women's basketball programs are the only programs that make money for universities. You start splitting up those profits between 85-100 football players, 12-15 basketball players and you will have hundreds of other college athletes without a sport to play. Not saying the athletic departments are being the most efficient with their money, but most athletic departments don't make a profit. You'd kill off just about every sport in college if football and basketball didn't pay for the rest of the sports.
  15. I saw DaT in person and he is one short dude. However, according to the NFL combine height measurements, he was half an inch taller than Tyreek. I think the main difference is/was DaT really was mainly a RB and Tyreek is a WR. I know coaches pigeon hole kids at an early age. Since DaT was so fast, you just handed him the ball. That way you didn't have to try and throw it to him and have a QB who couldn't get it there in middle school. DaT probably came into high school as a RB and the coach just kept him there. DaT did play the tazer at Oregon, but I'm not sure how much route running he really learned while at Oregon.
  16. Buying a home along a golf course, means you will have golf balls in your yard. I don't think they should get 4.93 mil. However, the golf course should put up netting to protect the home. 600+ balls is a bit excessive. I'm not sure what type of penalty you can give players for hitting into their property.
  17. Dan Patrick compared Kayvon Thibodeaux to Dion Jordan. Some glaring differences. KT was a consensus top 5 recruit. He played only DE in high school and college. DJ was barely a 4 start, started out playing TE at Oregon and then was permanently moved to DE. KT 6'4" 254 lbs arms 33 1/8" bench 27 reps KT had the 6th most bench press reps in 2022. The NFL combine average is 24.29 for DEs. NFLsavant.com: Advanced NFL Statistics NFLSAVANT.COM NFLsavant.com: Advanced NFL Statistics DJ 6'6 1/4" 248 lbs arms 33 7/8" bench N/A Do I think KT underwhelmed at times, absolutely. I also know he was injured for most of 2021 season. He had 7 sacks, the rest of the DL combined had 8.5 sacks. I'm still on the fence of whether he is worth a top 5 pick, but I know he will be in the NFL longer than Dion Jordan.
  18. How many coaches actually stay retired? I think there is a ton of burn out for coaches. They need a year off to recharge. I don't think Jay Wright is done and I don't think Matt Luke is done. I think by now any coach in the college ranks, knows what it takes to be a coach. The NIL and transfer portal are new, so that is an adjustment, but I think every coach knows the grind it takes. Seems like they thrive on the grind.
  19. 43K is the highest attended spring game for Oregon. Record-Setting Spring Game Extends Beyond Attendance GODUCKS.COM Record-Setting Spring Game Extends Beyond Attendance
  20. I only put in the lists when an Oregon Duck player was mentioned. For comparison sake, 2021 NFL draft only had 259 players taken. I don't know the situation for each player. Maybe, some saw the writing on the wall that they were not going to be playing much or they got bad information. At this point, only KT and V. McKinley look to have made the correct decision. 1-25 1. 21. Looking at that link, #9 USC, #17UW, #24UCLA, #25Stanford and #26ASU are all underperforming. #32 Utah is out performing their class talent.

  23. The Ducks MBB got Colorado's starting PG, so that is likely the impact transfer.
  24. Well, even the pros have their agents talk to whomever. It pretty much comes down to as long as the player doesn't talk to any coaching staff, it isn't tampering. Silly, but just how it is.
  25. Bo Nix transferred to Oregon, so if anybody should be taking 3rd string reps, it is Bo. If he were to transfer again, he'd have to sit out a year. I think Lanning is trying to keep all QBs engaged.
