Buying a home along a golf course, means you will have golf balls in your yard. I don't think they should get 4.93 mil. However, the golf course should put up netting to protect the home. 600+ balls is a bit excessive. I'm not sure what type of penalty you can give players for hitting into their property.

Dan Patrick compared Kayvon Thibodeaux to Dion Jordan. Some glaring differences. KT was a consensus top 5 recruit. He played only DE in high school and college. DJ was barely a 4 start, started out playing TE at Oregon and then was permanently moved to DE. KT 6'4" 254 lbs arms 33 1/8" bench 27 reps KT had the 6th most bench press reps in 2022. The NFL combine average is 24.29 for DEs. NFLsavant.com: Advanced NFL Statistics NFLSAVANT.COM NFLsavant.com: Advanced NFL Statistics DJ 6'6 1/4" 248 lbs arms 33 7/8" bench N/A Do I think KT underwhelmed at times, absolutely. I also know he was injured for most of 2021 season. He had 7 sacks, the rest of the DL combined had 8.5 sacks. I'm still on the fence of whether he is worth a top 5 pick, but I know he will be in the NFL longer than Dion Jordan.

How many coaches actually stay retired? I think there is a ton of burn out for coaches. They need a year off to recharge. I don't think Jay Wright is done and I don't think Matt Luke is done. I think by now any coach in the college ranks, knows what it takes to be a coach. The NIL and transfer portal are new, so that is an adjustment, but I think every coach knows the grind it takes. Seems like they thrive on the grind.

Will There Actually Be 50,000 at the Spring Game?

I only put in the lists when an Oregon Duck player was mentioned. For comparison sake, 2021 NFL draft only had 259 players taken. I don't know the situation for each player. Maybe, some saw the writing on the wall that they were not going to be playing much or they got bad information. At this point, only KT and V. McKinley look to have made the correct decision. 1-25 1. Who Has the MOST 4- & 5-Star Talent in Pac-12?

Could Ty Thompson be the No. 3 Quarterback?
Tandaian replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Bo Nix transferred to Oregon, so if anybody should be taking 3rd string reps, it is Bo. If he were to transfer again, he'd have to sit out a year. I think Lanning is trying to keep all QBs engaged. -
I'm not sure what to expect from Lincoln Riley yet. He has never lost more than 2 games as a head coach. I think that streak will end this season. He coached 5 seasons at Oklahoma, so he had a full recruiting cycle to end up with the majority of the players his kids in 2021. In 2020 Oklahoma lost to Iowa St. and Kansas state in game 2 and 3. Iowa St. ended up being ranked in the top 10 to finish the season. Oklahoma finished that season beating Iowa St. in the Big 12 championship game and #7 Florida in the Cotton Bowl. In 2021 Oklahoma lost to Baylor and Oklahoma St. Both finished in the top 10 at the end of the season. Riley didn't make the CFP his last 2 seasons, but it isn't like he was losing a ton of games or losing to teams he shouldn't lose to. The Kansas St. game in 2020 was a team they should beat, but it was game 2 in 2020. I think we all have erased 2020 as being any type of season worth remembering.

I like how Oregon State is proud of 85% or season ticket renewal, when they only have 26,407 capacity in 2023. Not exactly sure how that is considered a hot ticket?- 1 reply

I heard an interview with Joey and the letter. After hear the interview, I think how the letter came across on the message boards, wasn't how he was writing it to be. He was never against Dan Lanning or any other outside coach to be hired. His main concern was the recent revolving doors of head coaches. The letter was written before Lanning was hired. I haven't seen one article or quote from Joey specifically mentioning not wanting Lanning. Other than the letter what has Joey done to not be on board with Lanning?

Hospitalization of players should be considered serious. It should never happen. If it happens, it means the trainer failed at their job. The back in my day quotes fall on deaf ears. Everything is different even from 10 years ago when it comes to medicine and athletics. Comparing today's athletes with 40 year ago athletes is silly. I have a kidney disease and if I would have gone to the hospital because of rhabdomyolysis, it could have killed me or caused my kidneys to fail and I would be on dialysis for the rest of my life. Multiple of my family members have been on dialysis and it doesn't quite ruin your life, but it sure makes it that much harder. 125 mil sounds like the opening offer when bargaining. It is absolutely a money grab by the lawyers. I don't think they will land any where near that number when all is said and done, but who knows.

Lanning and J. Smith are under other notables. I still don't understand the fascination with J. Smith. His record as a HC is 16-28, 12-22 with last season being his only season where he won more games than lost. The only win he has vs a ranked team is against Oregon during the COVID season. Even though Utah wasn't ranked at the time, the Beavers did beat Utah last year. 2018 2-10 (1-8) No wins vs teams with winning records 2019 5-7 (4-5) 2 wins vs 8-5 Cal and 8-5 ASU 2020 2-5 (2-5) 1 win vs 4-3 Oregon 2021 7-6 (5-4) 2 wins vs 8-5 ASU and 10-4 Utah I'm not buying J. Smith until he shows me more. A 9-4 or 8-5 season would go a long way this year to show he is a good coach.

"I've never understood the love with this kid," said the scout, according to Bleacher Report's Matt Miller. "He might look the part, but he'll get someone fired. He doesn't have it." Some times you hit a home run, some times you strike out. Matt Miller struck out with this at-bat.

Stats don't jump off the page for Nix at Auburn, but at least his completion percentage went up every season and his INT's last year was only 3. Having a familiar OC and offense hopefully will be good for him.

Maybe the Interference Call was WRIGHT?
Tandaian replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It is more along the line that there was a lot of hand fighting for the first 59 minutes of the game without a penalty called. You can't change the way you call a game at the end. If something is a penalty or not a penalty the 1st minute of the game, then it needs to be called the same way the last minute of the game. -
Damned if you do and damned if you don't. Just about everybody expects some type of announcement after a decision is made. Are kids supposed to not say anything when they are leaving? Then they will get screamed at for not giving a reason. Or are the kids supposed to say they hated the coaches and their teammates?

Is Ware Going to be the Answer to Oregon's BIG Dreams?
Tandaian replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I would love for Tuck to be right, but best big man starting game 1? That is a huge ask for any high school kid coming into college. Dante and Bol Bol were right around Ware's recruit rankings. I can't say either were the best big man game 1. I wouldn't mind Ware being considered the best big man by the end of the season though! -
I'd say on rare occasions you can buy a championship. They Yankees and Dodgers have been a top 3-5 spending team in the MLB since 2000. Yankees have 2 titles and Dodgers 1. Remember the Jail Blazers years? They were one of the highest paid teams in the league and never made a WCF. Brooklyn Nets, LA Clippers and LA Lakers are the #2-4 highest paid teams in the league this year. I don't see any of the 3 winning a title. It certainly helps because on very few occasions does a cheap team win

Will NIL Bring Back the Meaning of Bowl Season?

This is an ESPN insider article, so you have to pay to read it. How college football's transfer portal has turned into NFL-style free agency on another level WWW.ESPN.COM From organization to tampering to year-round recruiting, here are the key takeaways from another year of the transfer portal. One personnel director estimated 80% of players have already made a decision before entering the portal. If 80% of players have already made their decision, then why are there so many kids in the portal? The math doesn't add up. -

Oh man Charles Fischer, your FG thought is a fantastic idea, but only about 5% of coaches/teams would be OK with it. Ducked, that 10 out of 12 is a misleading stat. Only 7 of 12 won on the opening possession. That means 5 out of 12 teams had a chance to win the game. So, we are nearly back to 50/50 chance. I don't believe having both teams touch the ball will change the percentage of teams winning in OT. Will there be times where the 2nd team in OT comes back to win of course. However, I'm going to assume we continue to have 58% (7/12) of teams win in OT when the first teams scores a TD. We will make everybody feel good, but in the end we won't change the percentages.
