I was a huge Helfrich fan in the beginning and remember having a very animated debate with a friend who said Oregon should have hired Chris Peterson instead of MH. I was also in Autzen Stadium on the day of the 70-21 debacle and never in my life as a long time season ticket holder had I ever left the stadium before a game was over no matter the score till that day. I was so upset. That is the only time to this day I got up and walked out. I had an odd feeling that day that Helfrich was not the guy. Can't explain it but it was something I felt. Then unfortunately I started hearing things from program insiders about how Helfrich had no control over that team and that there was no discipline. One insider told me Helfrich lost the locker room before the season even started. All in the past now but I gotta think Fentress heard some of this same stuff but for some inexplicable reason just can't let go and as stated, he likes the clicks.

Totally agree and I am not even sure Kirby would want to go to the NFL. He is in a pretty good place right now and I am sure has everything he needs.

Yeah, the whole thing is just odd. My friend who lives in PDX listens to him on Talking Ducks and says he still goes on about how horrible the fan base and administration were to Helfrich. No ill will on my part towards him but Fentress even after 7 years just can't let go. It's also telling that Helfrich's name never surfaces for any openings. Not saying that might not change but he has been doing TV games for awhile now.

That’s what. It’s amazing how some so childishly must marginalize past Oregon coaches in order to prop up current coaches. Actually, it’s embarrassing. Helfrich has FOUR conference title rings and coached in TWO national title games. The only two Oregon has ever played in And, oh yeah, he recruited, developed and guided Marcus Mariota to the only Heisman in program history. No real Oregon fan should ever disrespect Helfrich. Dude loved Oregon more than Chip, Willie, Mario and Dan combined. Also, still attacking me because I believed it was wrong for that staff to be fired is borderline Neanderthal behavior. Imagine hating the staff of Helfrich Pellum, Greatwood, Campbell, Lubick, Osborne, Neal so much that you routinely attack someone who backed them after ONE losing season two years after producing the greatest season in program history (2014). Lol Ridiculous. And, still doing so 7 years since their firing while celebrating a bunch of recruits who you know hardly anything about beyond the fact that recruiting services placed a bunch of stars by their names. And we all know that most of them will ultimately end up in the transfer portal. It’s pathetic and sad.

Funny you should say this. I remember watching the UO/USC game in Nov and thnking this reminds me the Mark Helfrich days. Says all the right things, has some recruiting chops but can't put it all together. Time will tell.

Canzano is in the entertainment business and will say whatever gets him clicks. I find him obsequious and patronizing. He will do whatever it takes to get the interview and then later knife the person in the back. You can certainly tell DL has him figured out. He gives him a few morsels and then gives him the perfunctory answers and John thinks he is all good and tight with Dan.

Well, Wednesday is the official day that NLIs can be signed so hopefully things turn out as we hope. Some sites are saying Nolen is a heavy Ole Miss lean because of CTH. EDIT- some sights are saying Savage to Oregon is a 'done deal' and he is just waiting to formally announce.

Justin did not turn down the job. Justin was given what was termed a 'courtesy interview'. Was his narrative that he turned it down? Yes, because he parlayed it into a contract extension at Cal. I know someone who was on the search committee. They had their eye on one candidate and when that person expressed mutual interest and the conversations progressed, everyone on that committee knew they had the right person. Were there others who expressed interest and were they interviewed? Yes there were. BTW the way, the committee was comprised of several people and it was just not 'the big donors' .

Same here Charles and I like these types of players. They tend to be hungry (not saying Dowdell was not) and Lock gets the very best out of them.

Would not be surprised to see him end up at Miss State with Lebby. That was his second choice after Oregon. Seems to be some conjecture in the twitter (X) world that a flip of Frazier is not likely as Charles said. It is notable that Limar 'seemed' to be ahead of him on the depth chart. Again, my perception but seems to be that of others here as well. There is an RB from NW Missouri visiting this weekend and I refuse to say 'what, how could an RB from an unheralded school be any good'? One Mr. Irving came from a school that is not perceived as a football power either. Lots of mystery and intrigue this weekend for sure.

Maybe Ward just wanted a trip to Miami to get some sun because he sure can't possibly think Mario will help him get to the next level.🤦‍♀️

Some think Nolan is a strong Alabama lean at this point. Speculation for sure but not too hard to fathom.

No idea what the issue was this year but I do know he has had a rough go personally. Both parents are deceased. If I am not mistaken his father passed away in 2022 very unexpectedly and his mother passed away a number of years ago as well. Hope for the best for him and hope he got his degree.

I am certainly no expert on QB evaluations. In talking with some people connected to the program, all unequivocally felt the same thing, They felt Mario was drawn to the fact Thompson was a 5 star guy. They are not sure how far and deep Mario looked beyond how the recruiting services rated him. The other thing they felt was that Mario never really had a plan for how to develop TT (surprising I know 😉). Dillingham comes in and Bo joins him. Clearly KD and Dan saw something there and figured out how to take advantage of it. I certainly hope for the best for Ty. He is a very admirable young man and it appears he was well liked by his teammates. Hopefully he learned from Bo and will take his game to the next level.

I think things are reaching a point where some serious questions have to be asked. Love Kelly. He is a very nice person but right now things are not looking very good. Maybe Kelly is ready to move on too. We forget about that aspect sometimes as well.

Word is he is in the portal. Mario loved him. I also think Mario was a bit taken in by his star rating. I hope for the best for him.

What a mature, classy person. This guy embodies everything Oregon football should stand for, grit, grace, determination and humility. The coaches have a wonderful recruiting narrative by simply telling his story. He could have totally given up after the Auburn debacle but he persevered. It has always been about the team and not him. I am so glad he is a DUCK and will always be.

What's that old saying.... better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.
