  1. Thanks for these insights Nevada Dawg. Appreciate you sharing this. We'll soon know.
  2. Agree about 'Win the Day' but again it was most closely equated with Chip and I understand why they don't use it. Each coach wants to put their trademark on things. I love one thing Dan really harps on which is to 'play the game NOT the occasion' (I sure hope they remember that on Saturday and not get caught up in the hype). I think they will and one key factor, Nix is very mature. Not saying Penix is not as well but Bo definitely has a level of maturity in him that I think fuels that team.
  3. Seems as though there was a kerfuffle yesterday amongst some in the fan base because Dorlus was not seen at practice and that certainly piqued everyone's attention. The good news, he WAS there today and was a full go so perhaps was something with school.
  4. Mario has certainly taken the hits in the media. He still is not fully owning it. In a slightly veiled attempt to accept a slight bit of blame he did say they should have taken a knee and he should have overruled the play call. He will never change. He is the head coach and fancies himself the CEO of the organization. Makes me wonder if the team will recover and more importantly if they will respect him. He preaches culture and family yet just can't live by his own mantra. Wonder what John Ruiz thinks of his investment now. Then again John has other urgent matters that are probably consuming his time.
  5. Coaches always talk about paying attention to the details. Well Dan and the Oregon staff apparently do so as well. A poster on another board pointed shared that Sione Laulea is LDS and his faith is extremely important to him and his family. Of the schools recruiting him (final 3- UO; USC & Miami) only ONE of them took the time on his recruiting visit to take him to church. Yes, Oregon arranged for him to check out the local church and attend a meeting there. There is some speculation that this tipped the scales in Oregon's' favor.
  6. All signs point to Oregon BUT as noted he does have a lot of offers.
  7. Dan is very astute and given his track record so far I trust him to do what is best.
  8. What is most perplexing is Mario just continues to do the same dumb stuff over and over. You would think he would learn. Stubborn is one thing, stupid is another. I liked Mario in the very beginning of his tenure. I had an opportunity to meet him early on and found him pleasant but there was always something about him that bothered me and I could never quite put my finger on it. It was not something I spent too much time contemplating. Then he left and Dan came and the more I listened to Dan early on I realized what it was. Dan is authentic and real. Mario is not. As I have said before, Dan does not have to be the smartest man in the room, Mario does. I re-watched the Unfiltered interview with Dan and it firmed up my authentic and real assessment even more.
  9. Dan made a very interesting comment in the beginning when he addressed the issue about being as young as he is/was when he got the job . I heard it but then went back and listened again. It's telling. Don't want to spoil for others so will wait till a few more people weigh in after watching it.
  10. This is a must watch. Dan is just so real and authentic. I can't think of an Oregon coach in recent times who even comes close. It's clear he does not have to be the smartest man in the room.
  11. Notice how improved the team is the strength and conditioning department now that Feld is gone?????
  12. I suspect there is some subterfuge going on with DeBoer as there is with DL. The week off will certainly help both teams no doubt. Unless someone gets some real valid insights via a backdoor source I don't think we'll really know with either team till game time. Just my $.02
  13. Based on what I heard from some Oregon people who saw him on the sideline in the second half and then post game , the word was he was 'fine'. That's of course subjective but maybe he did practice today. Hard to read much into Dan's comments. Just my observation.
  14. Very sorry to hear this. Had heard from some people there was fear of a season ending injury. Obviously that came to pass. Good thoughts to him for a full and speedy recovery.
  15. Very amazing story. Bo and his entire family are truly good people. Can't lie, I shed a couple of tears.😢
  16. And so it starts from the gang up north via Twitter/X: Brandon C @UWFBopinions Oregon is lucky they dodged Arizona this year. Because Arizona is a terrible matchup for them, they would've lost last Saturday
  17. I think Dan will employ the same strategy next week as he always does. All nice/nice in the press. Work in silence, nothing said that will become bulletin board clippings. Everything will be very vanilla. Did you notice after Stanford, he said this week is a 'work week' ? I expect a lot of the following from Dan and the players: "UW is a great team". "This will be a huge challenge for us". "We must prepare for everything". "Nothing in the past matters, it's about the here and now" "Play the game, not the occasion" "We have to play to our standard" "Pennix is one of the top QBs in the country"
  18. https://athlonsports.com/college-football/demand-grows-college-football-coach-firing-pj-fleck-minnesota-golden-gophers Glad he was not hired. If memory serves me right his name was bandied about after the MH firing.
  19. Not only awesome to see them make in game adjustments but even better that they recognized they needed to! 😉 That did not seem to happen a lot in the past. Also did you catch Dan acknowledging in his post game presser that he did not manage the clock as effectively as he should have at the end of the half? Acknowledgement of an error (albeit not a game changer) also something that did not happen in the past.
  20. Rumor is the WSU game as that is slated as 'homecoming' and yes, I believe SC is a 'blackout'.
  21. Horrible news. Was just talking with some friends about him a few weeks ago. We were wondering what he was up to of late. Very sad.
  22. Great article Charles. Sharing a little personal insight here. I had a chance to meet Dan and observe him in a social setting and also on the practice field. He has the 'it' factor. He worked the room like a pro. I actually stood back and watched him and he was superb. Comparing that to his predecessor who I also observed at a social event, he had to be escorted around the room by AD staff. He lacked social skills quite honestly. What you saw in his (MC) interactions with the press where exactly the same when he was in a room of donors. 'Nuff' said there. Dan has a great sense of humor and he spoke very candidly about his wife's battle with cancer and how that shaped him. He is authentic and real. I like how he owns things when they don't go right. That is called humility. He'll get tested in lots of ways, that's the nature of coaching and life in general but I truly believe he'll handle it and own it.
  23. The other thing that drove me nuts about Mario was his thing of only playing the Jrs and Srs even if they were not the best players. I like Dan's 'if you're good enough, you're old enough' mantra.
  24. Totally agree. Dan is intense for sure and I like his 'main thing' emphasis. Some of the media peeps try so hard to get him to say stuff that will seem like a 'big scoop' and he just plays it very cool. He's pretty astute with the media.
