  1. Good interview. John did his best to get info from Dan about Bo's injury and Dan did not bite on his ask. Gotta credit John, he tried multiple ways to get the info but Dan was resolute.
  2. Forgot to add to my previous comment, things were a bit sparse in Corvallis on Saturday as well from the pictures that I saw. I did notice that John C tried to 'enhance' things a bit in his column on Sunday by saying the there was a 'good crowd'.
  3. Yes, they are really trying to make it a 'big deal'.
  4. To add even more fun to this topic, there seems to be significant concern in dawgland that they will have such a spectacular season (CFP is a lock) that the SEC or NFL will come calling and DeBoer will jump ship for another job. Yes, this is true. I have a husky friend (who is very sane and rational and even he laughs at some of the nonsensory that emanates from Seattle) and he told me this is currently a topic of discussion on many of the message boards in the land of purple and gold.
  5. Don't you mean UCLA as that is where Mototavo transferred if I remember correctly.
  6. I think Lanning's culture is definitely taking hold. Various sources have indicated that with the exception of one player( I honestly don't know who but could venture a guess) there was no disappointment on the part of the coaches regarding the departure of many of the players who hit the transfer portal. According to some, there were a few players last year who had not bought in for whatever reason and wanted to do their own thing on the field. Fact or fiction, hard to say but at the same time not out of the realm of possibility.
  7. I think it would be best if Bowen just left well enough alone. (not that he cares what I think) There have been lots of stories out there about why he did what he did but if I were him I would practice the old axiom of letting sleeping dogs lie. The issue about the time thing on the paperwork goes back to the old days when Gary Campbell had JJ Arrington sign before actual signing day which back then was after midnight on the first Weds in February. Yes, clearly dredging up the past and that is not my intention, but I know Oregon is hyper vigilant about that because it resulted in both NCAA rule changes and punishment (at the time) for Oregon.
  8. I too have heard that both Bellotti and Brooks think DL is the real deal. Both like him a lot. Not to dredge up the past but have heard from the same source that MB and RB were NOT fond of Dan's predecessor. 'Nuff said'.
  9. Agree that all of this is very difficult. Again, we don't know what Lanning was initially told that triggered his (and AD and University administration) decision. We will likely never know all the facts as DL is extremely private about some team matters and rightly so. Now that the additional information has come to light and Holden is not going to be charged Dan has a decision to make. Maybe he has already made it and instead of doing some sort of public thing he is just going to move forward. One thing I have thought (and I have no inside knowledge or intel) is that Lanning may not say anything and when spring practice opens and someone poses the question as to Holden's status Dan may simply say 'he is a part of our team'. That could be a way of just moving on.
  10. Word is that the body cam video showed clear evidence TH was NOT the aggressor hence no charges filed. I don't think the presser (if there is one ) would be awkward. Lanning has been pretty good about owning mistakes and no one will fault him for saying 'based on facts presented at a specific point in time a decision was made. New facts and information came to light and I have made the decision to reinstate Holden based on that'. The other thing is it may not be a presser but a statement issued via the AD. Just hunches on my part.
  11. There clearly is truth to the 'whispers' that Mario is very hard to work for. People who live by the axiom that 'it's my way or the highway' USUALLY quickly learn that doesn't work. Apparently it's taking Mario some time to figure that one out, or as stated above he is choosing to look away from what he sees in the mirror. I heard a conversation in the club at Autzen last fall that I recounted as I read this thread. A couple of donors were talking and one of them commented that the conventional wisdom is that no one inside the HDC misses Mario for the simple reason he was very hard to work with in all aspects. Fact or fiction, don't know but I remember thinking about it as I was commuting back to PDX after the game.
  12. some interesting names out there especially in the article from Duckswire. Will be interesting to see where Dan goes with this.
  13. It's fun to watch them get all wrapped around the axel over this. Calling Lanning a frat boy while their 'coach' could not wait to get to LA and buy the glitzy house because being 'showy' in LA matters right????? Oh and by the way what was the score of their bowl game????? Now shortage of whining in SoCal today.
  14. Seems to be some 'word' out there that Robinson might delay his commitment.
  15. One event is at the Nike World Headquarters and the other is at the Embassy Suites in Tigard.
  16. Totally agree about JC ragging on the Ducks over the Willy episode and his partner in crime at the time was George Schroeder who was at the RG. Schroeder basically said Oregon was getting the death penalty and then walked that back big time saying his sources led him astray.
  17. I get a bit nervous when these so called 'handlers' get involved. Willy Lyles was considered an advisor and handler too. I realize that was a much different time and there was no NIL, but it still causes me to pause for thought. It may all be fine and I certainly hope it is. Just my 'old school' thinking.
  18. One has to think he goes if he is offered and yes, it would set off a firestorm in dawgland.
  19. Just my two cents here regarding the culture discussion that has spanned a few threads here. I think the 'Lanning effect' is starting to take hold. I reference the WSU game and the Holiday Bowl and even the Georgia debacle. They (IMO) NEVER gave up in those games. In the past you could certainly tell when they did and there are no better examples than the two Utah games last year. We discussed ad nauseum those two but those will always stick out to me as games where they totally gave up. I literally was angry watching the second half of that P12 champ game against Utah because it was just so obvious to me. And as much as the former guy discussed 'family, culture and physicality', I am not sure they had a lot of any of those. There were rumblings that MC and some of the other coaches were starting to ware on the players. I think (and this is strictly and outsiders opinion) Dan also kept a hard eye on guys who he did not think would fit his culture. I honestly think Justin Flowe was one of those guys. We'll certainly know more next year but just my observations.
  20. This is where Malchow excels and why DL brought him to Oregon. I think both he and Dan get it. Not to speak ill of the departed, but I don't think the previous regime EVER got it. The main guy was a star chaser. I don't get the impression Dan is. Of course everyone wants 5/4 star guys but there are diamonds in the rough out there too and I trust Dan's acumen for finding those far more than the previous guy. I trust Dan to find guys to fit his system, not guys who are just 5 stars. Evidence MIGHT be the guy from ASU that committed yesterday. There were plenty of folks in the twitterverse who said 'what'. We won't know for awhile but this may be an example of a guy who is a hard worker and wants to earn an opportunity.
  21. Not too surprised by this. I sort of figured he would be back. Was just a hunch on my part and nothing else.
  22. I think it's very cool. He is marking the key points in his life and that's cool in my mind. It clearly is a generational thing and as astutely pointed out in another post, it's how it's done now. I do wonder if Dan intended for it to be public. Clearly he knew pics were being taken but wonder if he anticipated they would be shared publicly. Maybe he did. On a separate note, I have heard from several people who have gotten to know him over the last year that it is very obvious that his wife is 'his rock' so clearly see why she is prominent in the tat. On another separate note I am SURE Crepea will ask him about it at some point. During the season Dan asked James why he did not wear shorts more often so his ink could be seen and James was the one of the first media guys to post about it other than the guy who did the actual inking.
  23. I think the line of Oregon by 3 has held. I have not checked since yesterday. Anybody have any insights?
  24. Certainly very valid points and I agree he does probe more than some of the others.
