Agree and one of the reasons I like coming here. There was so much hyperbole and firing of coaches on other message boards Saturday night that it was ridiculous. One person even went so far as to say Mullens should rescind the new contract DL just got. Yes, you read that right. I get that we all get caught up in the moment but sometimes Oregon fans give Oregon fans a bad name.

Mr. FishDuck- I 1000% agree with you. I saw the exchange you referenced between DL and Lupoi and took note as well. It clearly looked like Dan was emphatically making a point to Tosh and I am not saying he was calling him out, but rather ensuring Tosh understood his point.

Well, he does have to be careful what he says publicly because it can result in a fine. He can formally file a complaint with the P12 office which I am guessing he will do. Thinking Merton Hanks gets a Fed Ex letter from Dan!

Asking an honest question , why is there this perception that Justin Wilcox is the panacea for Oregon? It seems this narrative surfaces when there are questions with the defense. Please don't take this as Wilcox bashing because that is in no way my intent. I just wonder why this always surfaces. What exactly has he done at Cal? In 7 years his record is 31 and 37. He is certainly a very nice guy and a great Oregon alum. I just don't get why we think Phil should pay him to come back. Also there is a 'myth/urban legend' out there that he almost got the job last time. Of course we all know about the letter that was written. I was told by two different people who definitely have connections in the AD, yes, he was interviewed. The phrase that was used by both insiders in separate conversations was 'courtesy interview'. One went so far as to say it was apparent he was using it as leverage in his negotiations with Cal and there is certainly nothing wrong with that. Happens in the business world all the time. And shortly after his 'interview' with Oregon he got a new deal at Cal. I was told directly by one person that Phil was not onboard with Wilcox as a candidate at all. I have to assume the person who told me this was telling the truth because I know who his contacts are inside Oregon athletics.

I read the full story in USA today. It's pretty ugly. He deserves this.

Coaches made half time adjustments. That did not seem to happen under the previous regime. Just my $.02

I like what Dan is doing. He seems to have a method to the 'madness' and maybe we won't figure it out but fun to ruminate about it that's for sure.

I'm okay with it. The guys like it and in the end it's for charity so that's a good thing IMO.

They made early mistakes but in game adjustments were made. This These words were music to my ears. The former guy did not know the meaning of in game adjustments.

Other than being an alum and a really good guy, he has no real connection to DL. Not saying that eliminates him but just think Dan might go after people he has connections with. No insights just my $.02 cents

DeBoer is a good X's and O's guy for sure. Not so much a good recruiter and it will catch up with him if he does not bolt for the NFL in a couple of years.

Yeah- hope all is well with him. Very decent guy. Can't imagine he got another job offer at this point in time.

I know I have said this already in another thread, and this is not an attempt to beat the proverbial dead horse, BUT if the Big 10 called Scott Barnes on that Friday and said 'we'd like you to join the conference' there is no way in hell Scott Barnes would have asked them to hold and run out of his office and asked his executive admin to get Rob Mullens on the phone because he wanted to ask him if Oregon was okay with OS going to the Big10. Mullens et al did what they had to do. The Apple deal while plausible in some aspects was bad in other aspects. The UW pres was pretty succinct in her assessment when she said it had a two year exit clause and that was a deal breaker for them along with the fact that in a 24 hour period the Apple deal had significantly changed from the initial offer. I am not sure what more Daschel and others can say. Were there mistakes, of course and they can all be traced back to Larry Scott and university presidents across the conference (looking at you ED Ray, now retired OS pres; Michael Crow (ASU) and whoever was at UCLA at the time and Carol Folt (SC) who was playing both sides at the time) who had just a bit too much hubris when ESPN offered a couple of years ago. Hindsight is 20/20 .
