OMIGOSH! Kelly Graves Has FIVE YEARS Left on His Contract?

Recommended Posts

I just heard this while driving on local sports radio, and just about plowed into a parked car. Five years? Mullens...WTH?

Oh well, I'm sure Graves knows
where he is taking the program.

Top players leave again. No top recruits are coming. The word is out.

At this point it is clear that something is awfully wrong and might it be the coach?

Complacency?

Note to Mullens, when a coach has a generational talent, don't sign that coach to a longterm extension! It is the player, not the coach who just led the team to such lofty heights.

When Helfrich had Marcus and he won the Heisman, what did he do, signed him to a crazy extension.

Did he learn, no!

When Graves had arguably the Heisman winner in college basketball, what did he do? He signed graves to a stupid contract.

The AD doing it once, shame on the coach, the second time shame on the AD!

The road to apathy is long (5 years) for some, much shorter (this year) for others.

Welcome to where I was even during the last year or two of the Sabrina era. But then I had inside Intel

Can we go to Oregon Sports and read anything but bad news about our Duck girls ? No, Graves got basically a walk on with Sabrina and a talented group surrounded her. How many wonderful players came after those star studded years only to disappear into the night like a wisp that really did not exist ?

The answer is many, too many. How is it possible to turn a class of multiple 5 star athletes into a proving ground for other schools and coaches to rape and pillage ? Easy you say. It must be because it continues with one star after another being attracted to the light only to find out that the light is the brand and the intensity of that light which was the Sabrina group is fading rapidly.

How long must we endure the tarnishing of the brand ? It's time to cut out the cancer before it consumes all that it touches. The real question might be "Does the cancer come from the top?" He's ruined track and field. Now it's WBB. What happens when our should be hall of famer MBB coach is no longer or he errs with Dan Lanning ?

$6,000,000 is some real money. $1,500,000 is like a get out of jail card in this case. Cut the cord now !

GO DUCKS !

Graves was a winner at Gonzaga for years. Was the move to Oregon too much for him alone?

He can't afford to because he gave Oregon State 30 million, and took away a home game from us and gave it to the Beavers.

All,

This reminds one of the agreement our AD (and/or University President) made foregoing any claim to the $30MIL the university Sports programs had earned during this past (and apparently current) fiscal year if what we have heard and read about the PAC-12 and NCAA BB Tourney monies is also true. The AD and/or University President seem almighty generous with monies that are going to be needed next year and perhaps the next few years. The AD darned near bungled the Men's FB HC hiring when he looked South to UC Berkeley. Fortunately, the AD stepped back from the cliff.

Two things we know about our Women's BB Head Coach Graves: he had a horrible season record, and his losses were a catastrophe (lost to Colorado by 49 points!); and, our WBB HC has yet to figure out how to lead, communicate with, and recruit his own team. He does not have to use the portal. Just talk with and convince your own players they are in the right place, and you will do much better as a leader and the program will do much better culturally, that they are not wasting their time and energies on a person that has failed his program and team. Harsh conclusions? Accurate conclusions based on a measurable record. If the HC cannot do the right thing, then the problem is rooted higher.

Let's clean house and start winning. Win, Ducks, WIN! If Men's Football and Women's Lacrosse can do it, all other programs can do it. Men's Baseball and Women's Softball, X-Country, T&F (indoor and outdoors), Women's Soccer, and Men's Basketball have determined to move forward. Let's employ the money we have and stop acting like blind fools who are wasting our hard-earned heritage.

   Best regards, KCDuck1

He needs to get good transfers since his recruiting has dropped off. Van Lith is back in the portal. She’s from WA, but might be willing to come to Eugene. However, the Zags might have the inside track.
