30Duck No. 1 Share Posted September 2 For the most part the talk today has been about the now disturbing win for USC over LSU, or Clemson's feeble effort against Georgia. Oregon's near stumble against Idaho has barely been mentioned. Is that because nobody is worried about it, or is it that Oregon isn't relevant anymore? Charles Fischer Administrator No. 2 Share Posted September 2 1. They've said ENOUGH about us all summer to swell the hat sizes a bit too much. 2. Let's deserve it first. 2 2 Mr. FishDuck
ElPatoUO No. 3 Share Posted September 2 You mean they are talking about the numerous high profile matchups over the weekend, rather than Oregon vs. Idaho? Yeah, that is the way it works. I couldn't even tell you who Ohio State played without looking it up. Most people across the country aren't going to care much about an Oregon game until they play Ohio State.
OregonDucks No. 4 Share Posted September 2 I’m personally glad that they aren’t talking about the Ducks because it wouldn’t be positive right now. 2

TexasDuck No. 8 Share Posted September 2 We get a pass on the Idaho game. It’s just too early, and anyone can have a mediocre day. It’s also Labor Day weekend so most of the important talking heads are off until tomorrow. This Saturday will be entirely different. Win big, barely win, or (gulp) lose, it won’t be quiet at all. Any and all scenarios will elicit a lot of opinions. I remember the days when no one outside of Oregon talked about the Ducks. We’re a national program now, with all that comes with it. 1

Therefore, it’s more likely the national sports media will be talking about the Ducks on Saturday before moving on to the opening weekend of the NFL on Sunday. I agree, for now, But for Oregon to get where they want to be, I feel that has to change. Champions don't play under the radar. They take the sling and arrows and control the narrative. 1

But for now silent running.
Haywarduck Moderator No. 12 Share Posted September 3 Games, wins and even losses don't matter too much in early September. Most games don't add up to much until mid-October. Once we play tosu we will know how good we are, and will be taken seriously by the smart pundits. If we lose any of the games up to that point what we saw Saturday becomes more concerning. This wasn't a good start, but there is still much time to build and grow. The talent is there, but weaknesses were shown against just an ok team. That has to be concerning, and needs to be put to rest in the coming games. Our first game was a blip on the radar unless that blip starts to grow. Lanning and his team of coaches need to clear up that radar, and get to knocking out some opponents. What Lanning saw in his first head coaching game he still hasn't replicated at Oregon. Georgia still knows how to win big in most any game. Oregon and Lanning are still finding their way. The coming games will show how far along he is, after Saturday there are still some pretty important questions.

Chip was aggressive on 4th down but he seemed to convert it most of the time. The opposite appears to be the case with Lanning/Stein. I just hope it doesn’t cost Oregon a game.

Utki No. 15 Share Posted September 5 I prefer the national media to not talk about Oregon when it put out a wet fart of an effort against Idaho. Let's see if Dan can figure out how to call 4th down plays correctly. Let's see if the NIL rich kids can play with heart to the level of lower quality opponents. Who knows. We shall know more after game 4.

You water it for 3-5 years, and at that point it suddenly shoots up to 90'. Of course, I'm hoping for that to happen in the third year. 1
Duckley Palace No. 17 Share Posted September 6 The only way this past week's game would be noteworthy is if Idaho won. Think Michigan vs Appalachian State 2007. You can't gain any respect by beating an overmatched opponent but you sure can lose a lot if you lose.
