Charles Fischer Administrator No. 1 Share Posted October 8 Whoever loses this game is still in the Playoff hunt as long as it is not a blow-out. Even then...win 11 games and you're in, and either team could do that. When it came to a four-team playoff...the pressure on a game like this was enormous, but now...you can go for it, and not have it ruin your season. And if you meet this opponent again, (as the loser of the first time) the psychological advantage is huge for you in the second game. It is good-or-good. So we need to relax... Right? 1 1 1 Mr. FishDuck

30Duck No. 3 Share Posted October 8 (edited) Charles, reading the posts today has had a calming effect. I still want OBD to be at Level 1, but I'm now just looking forward to a great game between two great teams. If, as you mentioned, this was still the 4 team Playoff, I'd be a wreck. But now, an L is not the end of the season. Will Corso pick the Ducks? Edited October 8 by 30Duck
Grandpa Duck No. 4 Share Posted October 8 Regardless, I feel that we need to exercise our home field advantage. Sagarin says it’s worth three points. So if we don’t win at home, . . .
Charles Fischer Author Administrator No. 5 Share Posted October 8 I believe very strongly that this team will be killer at the end of the season. On Wednesday I will have an analysis that shows some crafty new stuff that Stein is beginning to roll-out with devastating effect. We're going to be good on offense! GeotechDuck No. 6 Share Posted October 8 (edited) Nobody is really talking (outside of true duck fans) about how good this defense is right now. Nine straight quarters without an offensive touchdown by the first team defense. When was the last time that happened at Oregon, if ever? Have held every team to under 200 yards passing so far this year. Insane! What’s even crazier, is looking at all the numbers, then realizing just how good Ashton Jeanty is. Interesting point but...I'll remind you that before the Bama game everyone was crowing about the Georgia defense being the only team in the NCAA not to have given up a touchdown. Then they give up four touchdowns to Alabama in the first quarter. These stats can disappear in the blink of an eye, though I will say the the Duck defense has improved over last year's edition. But the team hasn't played anyone to date with the offensive skills of the Buckeyes.
TXDuck No. 8 Share Posted October 8 It’s been very interesting reading and listening to some of the talking heads about this game. As of today (10.8.24) it’s been a split decision based on the camp you’re in. I will say the talk out of Ohio St. is a bit condescending, this could be my read or how they intended it. The comments (Ohio St. fans and B10 pundits) about Oregon takes me back to a book I read as a child (The Little Engine That Could). Oregon is that cute little team joining the “REAL” teams and it’s admirable they are even trying! My next comments come from my OBD glasses point of view. Ohio St. does not realize how rabid, loud, and knowledgeable our fan base is! We are 60K that will rival 100K seat stadiums, IMHO we truly have a 12th man. The way our stadium is built… we fans are truly on your back and in your ear the entire game! Please understand, this game is going to be close, neither team has played another with talent so equal to their own. While the odds makers have us at -3 or -3.5 (depending on the site) that’s a pick’em game in the betting world (just ask all the gamblers on this site)! I’m 100% here for this and Lanning has been here before! He will have this team prepped and my hope is we see both the Offense and Defense cut loose! If it wasn’t for the arthritis in my right knee (getting old sucks!)… I’d run through a brick wall I’m so geeked out! These are just the ramblings of an old man and nothing more! The Ducks are actually the dogs in the one. tOSU is favored by 3.5 right now. So with the standard 3 points for home field advantage Vegas is thinking tOSU is better by 6.5 points.
MicroBurst61 No. 10 Share Posted October 8 The Oregon Ducks Football team HAS NOT been very kind to "Vegas", regarding betting props. (I'm sure Charles, amongst others, can attest to that) Believe me when I tell you that the odds Makers are a bit "shy" about properly setting Oregon. My experience is that "Vegas" Always makes up for earlier "bloodbaths" regarding gambling....so I think in reality it's a tossup and are hoping for enough of a betting shift to make up for any earlier....misses regarding gambling. I expect the Ducks to "cover"! But, please don't listen to any of my "off the cuff" theories. Especially regarding any of your hard earned money! If I was correct most of the time then I would be "raking it in" AND definitely NOT sharing the secrets to my gambling successes...LOL! GO Ducks....ignore what Vegas has to say 1 1 1

Just Ducky No. 13 Share Posted October 8 I’m using my betting skills to bet on osu. The teams I wager on usually lose the game therefore if I bet against our beloved Ducks they most certainly will we the game. Sound betting strategy for sure. 1
Solar No. 14 Share Posted October 8 While it seems like another close loss is the worst outcome where Oregon is viewed as the team not capable of winning the big games, I think it's probably the best case scenario. Even if this season ends up a total redo of last year and we run the table afterwards in conference and lose to OSU in the B1G champ game close, this year we get into the playoffs while having experienced the adversity that forced the team to grow more than they would have if they'd beat OSU in the regular season, improving our chances to make a deep playoff run. That being said, if we are the better team Saturday let's win it! 1

This is the reason why we joined the B1G. The pressure is welcome. This is a statement game and I love the position we are in to cease this opportunity and show the country what our OBD's are truly made of. Competitors LIVE for opportunities like this one in front of us. "PRESSURE CREATES DIAMONDS". We want the best players in the country to come play in Eugene in situations like the one we will have on Saturday. This is BIG BOY STUFF. If we are what we think we are, the guys in that locker room will step up to the occasion and put the country on notice. GO DUCKS!!!!!!! Get me to Saturday already. 1 1

Ohio State could be the only Top 25 opponent left on Oregon's schedule when the Committee releases its final 2024 ranking on 12/8/24. Michigan is totering. Wink Martindale's pass D is worse than DC Don Brown's, a DC canned by Harbaugh. The offense? Bo (not Nix) would love this O. Illinois has little room for error. 24 Michigan plays at 23 Illinois on the 19th in The Red Grange Game. The next Saturday the Illini visit Eugene. Illinois finishes the regular season at 4-1 Rutgers. Fisch and company have done a terrific job building a team from scratch. 2 UW WRs are in the top 5 most receptions in the B1G. UW wins at Iowa this Saturday and a 4-2 UW might be closing in on being ranked. I still believe a 10-2 Oregon without a bad loss is in the PO field. Thank you, 17. Boise State. Oregon's SOS for seeding purposes, without a P4 opponent OOC, may not be all that. Week 7; at the halfway point of this 14-week regular season, this could be the OBD's only chance to capture a Signature P4 Win. Playing in the Big House is a B1G deal but on the same Saturday, Ohio State plays at Penn State. Go Ducks! Crack the Nuts!
30Duck No. 19 Share Posted October 9 Maybe Cal & Stanford were smart to join the ACC. I just read that Clemson's schedule is easier than Miami's! The only reason Clemson isn't in the top 10 is their game at Georgia. So, after a year or two off, Clemson's playoff plan is back on track.
