NJDuck Moderator No. 1 Share Posted November 4 For the update...please see Charles's post, (No.8) in this thread. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- While the CBS broadcast speculated the injury could be a broken collarbone or a separated shoulder, it seems likely Johnson will miss time, potentially even into the postseason. That idea was supported on Sunday morning when Johnson took to social media and posted a concerning update to his Instagram story. The wordless post contained a picture of him on the ground with a broken-heart emoji, so it’s hard to imagine that means good news. After the game, head coach Dan Lanning was unable to provide any updates, so we will not know anything more until Monday night when he has his weekly press conference. Even then, it’s unlikely we will know for sure how long Johnson will be out. Very sad this happen to Tez. Hopefully will have further news on Tez later this evening from Dan Lanning. Jon Joseph Moderator No. 2 Share Posted November 4 Here's to a speedy recovery! Four weeks before (Knock Wood) the B1G Champ Game, win the Champ Game, and OBD's next game will be January 1, 2025, in the Rose Bowl, which would provide additional recovery time from December 8th to January 1st. If OBD does not secure a 1st round bye, the next game will be played in Eugene on December 19th or 20th. I am optimistic that Tez will play more ball for OBD this season. 1 1

David Marsh No. 4 Share Posted November 4 This will hurt the team with him gone. But Holden has himself a game on Saturday. Stewart is a massive threat and teams are treating him as such. Justius Lowe also have an incredibly good game last Saturday. And maybe even moving Whittington to receiver for a few plays would be beneficial. His production has shot up since my article about that so it would actually be to just get another solid receiver on the field. Then we might see some youngsters make the field in the next few games. If they can still preserve their redshirts all the better.
idontrollonshobbas No. 5 Share Posted November 4 Any chance we will see more TE screen play to replace Tez's short route game with more medium and deep balls to the wideouts?

But as you noted, there's so much depth and talent that as big a loss Tez will be, the offense will keep on rolling. Holden, Stewart, Lowe, another pass or two to Ferg, or Herbert or Sadiq, maybe Whittington!
Ktmguy2018 No. 7 Share Posted November 4 Let's note forget that Gary Bryant Jr is back. I've seen McClellan and Dickey make appearances so those guys could jump in from time to time.
Charles Fischer Administrator No. 8 Share Posted November 4 On another site....their insider information indicated that Tez is out until the Playoffs for certain. What the injury is...is unknown, although collarbone is likely. They may have had him in surgery today in order to speed things up. I believe we will be fine for the regular season without Tez, and could do well without him in the B1G Championship because of how much Holden and Lowe are emerging. Since it is the end of the season--this is the time to use our senior tight ends more, and Sadiq everywhere. Unfortunately, Marcus Harper is out 3-4 weeks, and I do not know if this includes the B1G Championship Game. Again...injury unknown, but this is the inside scoop. I learned about these yesterday, but withheld until now to honor their subscribers who pay over there to learn the important news sooner. When many were defending Kawika Rogers in this forum versus Michigan, and I was critical--my comments were not just based on this game. He comes in late in the game often, and he comes in for the 4th down situations as an extra lineman. I have winced watching him get blown up, and we lost 4th downs by his missed blocks. Late in the game when the reserves come in, and we have been stuffed for a TFL...it is often from his man. Why didn't I write about this before? No need to pick on a newbie when it was not crucial; we won regardless and I mention it now because the context is important. Thus why I stated that we have NOBODY adequate to back up any offensive line starter who goes down. Can Rogers do well enough over the next three games? Perhaps,...we could run more to the left, roll-out passes, etc. This changes the game-plans for Will Stein, as well as the selection of plays he will use. I was hoping that Bedford had not played because they were preserving his redshirt, but I learned he has already used his redshirt. So I am hoping he can come back this week, and even if he is game-rusty...it is a perfect game for that versus Maryland. Only Purdue is weaker among B1G teams on our schedule, IMHO, thus a good game to bring him up to speed. If he can play, that is. I think we can survive with Rogers, but beating Ohio State in the B1G Championship with their defensive tackles would be very, very difficult. Of course I really don't know what is defined as social media, and believed FD is a fine place to learn and share! HappyToBeADuck No. 13 Share Posted November 4 Well i am happy for OBD's and Tez. Having Tez in the the CFP is a weapon that both BSU and tOSU know, first hand, is hard to contain. Other CFP teams would face similar problems. Also, Tez needs to close his college career on the field competing. His story needs to end hoisting that Natty trophy. Great news........ 2

AllOregon No. 15 Share Posted November 4 More Oregon WR Tez Johnson, shoulder, expected to return this year - ESPN WWW.ESPN.COM Oregon wide receiver Tez Johnson's shoulder injury is not a season-ender and he is expected to return to action at some point this year, sources told ESPN's Pete Thamel. kirklandduck Moderator No. 16 Share Posted November 4 Regarding Tez, I can only speculate that perhaps it was a minor shoulder dislocation or moderate sprain so he could miss 2-3 weeks. If that's the case, he could be back in time for the Fusky beatdown. With Marcus Harper I hope he gets the same timeline. 3-4 weeks would include the bye week so he could return for the Fuskies, which would be a good one to knock the rust off. Even better if Matthew Bedford or Dave Iuli is able to get back onto the field during that timespan.

Urban Meyer, on a B1G Network show, mentioned that offensive line is the hardest position to recruit today. There simply aren't enough big, athletic high school players to fill the rosters of all of the top programs so you have to project what a 6'3", 270 lb. kid will play like at 325 lbs. and then you need to get him in the weight room and work on technique. I believe that he was referring to Ohio State but indicated that no one has much depth on the offensive line.
30Duck Moderator No. 18 Share Posted November 4 Okay!!! All signs pointing for this to be the first of many great seasons for OBD!!! Give Tez time to get back, more PT for Holden, Lowe, Dickey? Get even more out of the TE's? Absolutely hope that Harper is on the same timeline!!! The Ducks are gonna do something B1G! 1
Jon Joseph Moderator No. 19 Share Posted November 5 Is Dave Iuli good to go? Bedford can't redshirt twice but he can petition for an injury waiver, likely get it with no games played in 2024/25, and play in 2025.

Autzen Magic No. 21 Share Posted November 5 Against Illinois, Iuli was listed as “questionable” for the first time after being listed as being “out” all of the previous games. Against Michigan, Iuli was not on the injury report and therefore is now presumably available. If healthy and in shape after so much missed time, he could definitely help.
BigBallzChipper No. 22 Share Posted November 5 Man bummer about Marcus Harper. Interesting though because he had mentioned to Dan Lanning he was fine after the game. Maybe something turned up later on after more careful examination, or it could be just precautionary & to build depth with the next 3 games + bye not being too challenging. Who knows but hopefully we have him back in time for the B1G CG.

Marcus was just trying to stay positive.
