Steven A Moderator No. 1 Share Posted November 22 Evidently NBC isn't able to read a contract. Also, IF the conference is still intact when this deal runs out, look out for Oregon to impose it's will just like Michigan and OSU seem to have done. NBC frustrated with its Big Ten deal, which remains un-signed AWFULANNOUNCING.COM According to The Washington Post, NBC is frustrated with its Big Ten contract, which is still hasn't officially signed.
Drake Moderator No. 2 Share Posted November 22 It is a 7 year deal, estimated to be worth $7 billion. The conference was happy about the money, and the media was supposed to get to dictate the kick off times. I assume NBC doesn’t want a Purdue vs. Northwestern type match up for every prime time game because of November veto powers. I get that nobody wants to play in arctic cold night conditions in November. Without a signed contract, I get the feeling that unless there is a better inventory for prime time games, that $7 billion estimate quickly becomes less. I guess we will find out who flinches first. Jon Joseph Moderator No. 6 Share Posted November 22 B1G Whoop. No one knows what the landscape of CFB will look like come 2031. It could be that the Power 2 will have scavaged Notre Dame and ACC/B12 teams of interest, and the Power 2 will collectively go to the media marketplace and/or move the games to Venu. Venu was not formed on a whim. And today's antitrust issues could be gone before 2031, especially with the change in Congress. Who needs a PO when you can play a CFB World Series? Who needs to share the $ with weaker conferences? Do I like this? Not especially but Size goes to Size in business and I think something like the above is inevitable; especially, if the House settlement is approved. How many programs will be able to step up to $20M+ a year in direct payment to athletes?
spartan2785 No. 7 Share Posted November 22 It's pretty ridiculous that Ohio St. and Michigan have those veto powers, I would hope with the new deal whenever it is, that the conference just tells them all to suck it up and get in line, I mean what are those two going to do???? Leave! There's nowhere to go to. It helps brands to be on at different times..

Just Ducky No. 9 Share Posted November 22 If you saw the Steeler game last night this is exactly what could happen to the Ducks this time of year. Can you imagine college kids having to play in that environment in the B1G championship game. Unacceptable in my mind.

The B1G Champ game is in a dome in 2025, 2026, 2027, and 2028 when the game moves from Indy to Las Vegas. But Midwest home games could get nasty. As could a game in Eugene in December. I played games in the snow growing up in New England. No one died. It was FUN. All CFB players would have been happy to be in the NFL and playing ball in Cleveland last night. I have to disagree with you here, my friend. These are Football Players. I think games in tough conditions are perfectly acceptable and to be expected. 1

In some ways the snow is probably easier to play in than the heavy rain. 2013 in Autzen Stadium against Cal was absolutely insane! The rain was just intense and the players sliding on the field created little waves of water. There was also something like 6 fumbles! Throwing the ball was extremely difficult and Cal benched their starting quarterback, Jared Goff.

There have been historical games played in the snow, college and the NFL, the "Ice Bowl" between Green Bay and Dallas. The reason the NFL insists on sunny and warm for the Super Bowl isn't out of concern for the players, it's for the rich fans that can afford the tickets and whoever the halftime entertainment is. What a difference in QB play that night between Mariota and him! Too bad the reality in NFL doesn't parallel that night. 1
Annie No. 14 Share Posted November 23 The first PAC Conference Championship game was at Autzen, Ducks vs. UCLA. As I remember, it was damp, but I think it had rained--not raining at the game. There was a puddle at our feet and we were smack next to a concrete wall. It was SO COLD. I believe it was the next year the game was moved to a warmer climate.
