Posted Thursday at 08:24 PM3 days Administrator My Duck-Buddies....I have made a major change in how we will moderate our GameDay threads. Bottom line, is that you will be allowed to spew your frustration, to vent, as you wish. I recall how we have lost many good members because they were fine on the forum during the week, but went crazy in the GameDay threads. So, I will let you vent in GameDay threads. But Note the Parameters:--This is for GameDay threads only; you have to behave in the regular forum threads as in the past.--You cannot take shots at those who disagree with you, just like in the forum during the week. So, if things aren't going well, and we are getting our butt kicked? It is fine to blow off the steam in the GameDay thread, but NOT in the regular forum threads. I am allowing this so people can get-it-out-of-their-system during the game, but the question is--can these same people restrain themselves to not do it on the regular forum threads? You will need to, as I am cutting slack on this with the implied agreement by those who utilize this new privilege--that they will contain themselves in normal forum threads as before. I'm counting on the good people of this forum to hold their end up, in order to have a sounding board for when things get testy for us all.One Caveat?I would be mindful of the total game, because I recall a few years ago when we opened against Portland State--the Vikings marched down the field and scored early in the first quarter before Oregon got things going. And people absolutely melted down.Angry at the DC Lupoi, angry at the team....just angry. Then we won 81-7 and those in early meltdown mode looked pretty silly. So you are free to write what you want, but know it could provide laughter for us later....We have a fantastic community here, and I want you all to enjoy the experience, thus the new freedom. Mr. FishDuck
Thursday at 09:26 PM3 days Thank you Charles for this site.I am so ready to read and learn more from all the intelligent followers here.It seems like it's been forever since last season. I'm tired of reading about politics, let's get to what's important, DUCK football!!!Let's sco!
Friday at 02:15 AM2 days Thank you Charles for this new freedom to vent. It is probably a good thing. However, I know I will find it hard not to come back with a snide comment to any of the “sky is falling”, “fire the coach”, “our coaches/players/play-calling sucks” comments from some of the fans on the page.I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, this is a GAME, played by KIDS. That means the ball is going to bounce in funny ways, and kids are going to make mistakes. The doomsayers and negative Nellie’s need to buck up and take a breath before tearing into OBD, cause I for one am gonna have a hard time just leaving those derogatory comments alone.Maybe I will just watch the games And look at comments later. Don’t want to get in trouble for defending OBD from ill thought out, derogatory remarks about my favorite team in CFB.
Friday at 02:37 AM2 days I do think this is a good idea, I think for myself, I sometimes do need to vent a little, I would like to think I've always reserved my frustrations for the coaches and not the players. The only time I would say a little criticism is appropriate of players is when they do something like Holden did last year, something that is selfish. Even then, you have to remember that they probably regret their actions and would take them back if they could, usually.I would say there are times I do erase something before I hit submit since I can usually catch myself before I say something that probably is not needed or constructive. With all that said, I can't wait to Jerk about the defense after they give up 3 straight first downs! 😂 Before anybody says anything, that is a joke. Why am I starting it with Montana State? Because if things don't go well at Penn State...We actually had a former FishDuck WRITER who told people to discard their season tickets, never watch the Ducks again, and to avoid this site when we lost the first time in '23 to Washington? Note the word, "former," and I cannot imagine a more over-the-top-reaction than that. A percentage of people do it...But you bring up a good point; it is not just those who vent, but the rest of us who have to restrain ourselves in response. I've been guilty in the past of over-reaction to someone else--it is tough, but we gotta stay strong. Remember, no matter what is written to vent in the GameDay Thread....The Forum Will Still Be Pure Mr. FishDuck

Go For It There.(Although an unintended consequence of this new policy is a very entertaining GameDay Thread?) Mr. FishDuck
Friday at 11:17 AM2 days Moderator I noticed that in your parameters there is nothing written about taking shots at players and coaches. I am assuming anything goes within the gameday thread since they will be the targets of 99% if the venting.

And anything could be said about a former player or coach. So being critical of coaching and player performance is what a forum is for--and thus why we have that available...but do we want to allow OBD members to begin calling current coaches and players, "stupid" or "lazy", or more colorful and denigrating tags? What I liked about the current rules is how the line was clear, and my concern is that if I allow people to call Lupoi or Stein a name and declare their intelligence level in the GameDay thread....how long before we see it in the forum and I have to deal with it?I am trying to let people blow off steam, yet not create for hassles for me. Mr. FishDuck
Friday at 03:01 PM2 days Author Administrator I've decided. We stick to clear rules in the normal forum threads, but in the GameDay Thread...Anything goes in the GameDay thread toward the coaches and players, anything.(And I am sure it will later create some purposeful "misunderstandings" with some people in the other forum threads) Mr. FishDuck

I can’t wait to confront the negative Nancies!🫢First misunderstanding from not reading the posts carefully!--You cannot take shots at those who disagree with you, just like in the forum during the week.(I can feel it....in trying to give others an outlet for frustration--it is going to create more hassle for me) Mr. FishDuck
Friday at 05:52 PM2 days I am already planning a rant about how bad our defense is when Montana runs for 2 yards on their first play! 😄

Follow the 'thou shalt not speak ill of thy fellow OBD fan' directive on the forum. Allow Charles to enjoy the game and not have to keep getting out the radar gun and flashing the lights on the police cruiser because of repetitive infractions. And above all....Go Ducks!
23 hours ago23 hr Gosh Darn It All. Charles gives us permission to vent and the Ducks oblige by giving us Nuthin' to Jerk about.....WAIT A MINUTE! We lost two yards on that last play of the game! FIRE D. Lanning now before we get too deep into the season!!!!!!!QUACK!
7 hours ago7 hr LOL, now you give us the freedom when their is nothing to complain about! It's like your parents finally letting you take the car out by yourself for the first time and it's Sunday morning and all your friends are out of town.Joking aside, I appreciate the introspection and adaptability. Hopefully there is little to lose our "stuff" over this season.
5 hours ago5 hr Author Administrator Yeah...I am less than amused with some of the kidding, because nobody knows the crap I have to deal with in the background, all the damn egos. Most men LOVE the rules...until they apply to them. Remember Haywarduck? He posted every day and often, and was a founding member of the forum. Twice he broke our rules, and instead of owning up to it, moving forward, and we forget about it? No, he fought me, and blamed his writing ON ME. With the ensuing emails--he would not ever admit he made a mistake--even when presented with the rules and what he wrote.I removed Moderator status from him since...you have to know the rules? I did NOT ban him, but he left last December...never to return. So I have to put up with everyone's "mistakes," deal with their ego, and now put up with the "jesting" when I am trying to find a solution that allows little boys...to be unfettered little boys.
