Every time I see Lanning, he looks like he needs to be reminded that he actually makes money at this. I think that difference is the difference in the culture that is set at both programs. I have heard all about Riley's $17 million dollar mansion but I've never heard a word about his coaching philosophy or even his love for the game or his team. With Lanning, I've heard about the zero star recruiting, playing to the standard, and getting 1% better every day.Lanning's love for the game, his players and team oozies out of him at every interview. After big wins like this week, he's so fired up and crazed the Wolfman would back away. I think that is what players like Bear, Evan Stewart, Jordan Burch and Bo Nix needed. They all came in with bad wraps and were given second chances to rebuild their reputations and rekindle their love for the game by a coach that brings that passion every single day. Starters don't portal out from the Ducks for a reason. Plenty have portaled in from USC though and that's just fine with me.

Yesterday at 03:49 AM1 day Moderator No. Watching Bear chew up and spit out the Spoiled Children O-Line will be a sight that will warm my heart. Centuries ago, when I was a Berkeley undergrad, we would wave $1 bills across Memorial Stadium at the U$C fans while they waved $100 bills back at us. So, yeah, it's personal.
Yesterday at 05:24 AM1 day No. My best friend, who is a Notre Dame grad, has the deepest contempt for USC. This staid retired Air Force Colonel gets absolutely profane when referring to Trojan football. In a recent phone conversation, I asked him if he will miss the ND-USC annual rivalry game going away after this year. His reply was "Hell yes, I relish the chance to blister their f----- rear-ends annually and would even enjoy the opportunity for an encore in the playoffs or a bowl should that come to pass." He hopes Lincoln Riley can remain at SC and keep them mediocre forever.
Yesterday at 07:58 AM1 day No. It appears to me to be an issue of coaching. The coaches at Oregon seem to be able to get more out of players. That's pretty straight forward. Our coaches are amazing! They have done it time after time.We are very fortunate to have Coach Lanning; a Natty is in our future. You just gotta believe.
Yesterday at 01:08 PM1 day No. Someone mentioned that under Riley new defensive coordinator’s defenses get softer the longer they coach under Riley. I wonder if it’s the overall culture that Riley creates. If he doesn’t let the players hit and bang in practice then they will not be prepared to play physical in games.USC’s current DC did an amazing job at UCLA, with less talent. His defense at USC looks soft as warm butter and no better than the last USC DC. It appears to be a cultural/mindset problem. (Not that I mind one bit, as an Oregon Ducks fan.) Yesterday at 01:20 PM1 day No. Riley is incompetent.....and certain folks at USC still don't see it......after 5 years they still think he can coach. So look forward to a win with USC for several more years. As they continue to dream about what was.....and may never be again. The admin at USC will require a new hire to be politically correct which usually means softer than ice cream.

And I do believe that a Natty is in our future, maybe even this year. There is always hope, No?
12 hours ago12 hr No. I also meant to mention last night while posting here that I am glad to learn that Bear Alexander appears to have "grown up" considerably and s making great progress in Eugene after his miserable showings in Athens and Los Angeles. He, I believe, was on his last shot and is not wasting it. So, congrats to the young man and to the Duck staff for helping to set the young man straight.
8 hours ago8 hr No. Lincoln Riley was great in the Big 12. He was probably the most innovative offensive play caller at the second most talented program and the kings of the conference. Oklahoma has the most conference championships of anyone with 40 plus. The Sooners made it to the four team playoff the third most behind Alabama and Clemson with five. Care to know how many they won? Care to know the average amount they lost by? It's October so maybe you do.I just think Riley made his name beating the Timmys and Moes, in the B1G or SEC if he had stayed at Oklahoma he doesn't have advantage because now there are several teams with Jimmys and Joes . You gotta out coach some guys at this level.

Gave USC a good D for one year, then it was all downhill after that to the basement and USC fans swore he was a horrible DC.It appears to be happening all over again with the former UCLA DC that was the best thing since sliced bread for UCLA.
