Seems like expectations are that Chris Hampton gets promoted, and a new position coach is then needed. That seems to keep things tidy.

We will see if any underlings are prompted to follow.

That will hurt recruiting for sure....Tosh is a legend on the West Coast.

Theoretically, the DC is Dan Lanning, so I’m not too worried about this.

I’ll definitely miss his recruiting prowess.

Guess Hampton becomes the new DC. He's done a great job with the DB group so it's the next logical step.

Now DL needs a dynamite defensive line coach to come in.

We will survive, I'm certain! I wish Tosh well..

Will went close to his alma mater home; Tosh is back at his alma mater in Berkeley.

Danno worked for Saint Nick. No coach went through more assistant-to-head-coach hires than Nick Saban.

I believe in Danno and his hiring prowess.

Candidates out there who have won conference titles or coached PO teams and have not retired? Dan Mullen, Brian Kelly, and Boise State's Spencer Danielson.

He may have been Little Game James when it came to defeating ranked opponents, but Franklin won many football games.

I think PSU AD Pat Kraft is on thin ice, even though Penn State has a very good ice hockey team. 😁

They have a good wrestling program as well.

This search is starting to resemble the 2017 Tennessee debacle, without the whole protest that got a job taken away. Oddly enough that protest of Schiano was connected to his time at Penn State. Tennessee ended up hiring the worst head coach in their history, Jeremy Pruitt.

Penn State may very well be the big early signing day story tomorrow.

I think they are down to 5 commits and all 5 I guess are either on flip watch or at least not expected to sign early. There seems to be the possibility they have 0 early signings tomorrow.

Well another target just got taken off the map. Brian Hartline is the new head coach at USF.

The whole DeBoer thing just doesn't make sense to me. I know Alabama fans are absolutely insane, but DeBoer is doing about as well as anyone can , especially when following a legend. They've been spoiled, but I can tell you that no program is immune to having bad stretches. Texas, Michigan, Notre Dame, USC, LSU, Miami, Tennessee, and even Georgia have gone through decade plus long stretches of not being title contenders. Florida is in the midst of fifteen years.

DeBoer is a great coach. If Alabama doesn't lock him down, or the spoiled fans drive him out. I'll laugh so loud, I might get a noise complaint. FSU has already given me an early Christmas gift, by keeping Norvell.

What other big play can they get? Take Dabo from Clemson. I think Clemson might welcome that. They aren't getting Ryan Day or Kirby Smart. Both Texas programs just signed their coaches to long term contracts. Cignetti just got a huge extension. Both the Tulane, and North Texas coaches are already hired at new places, same for James Madison. That leaves Virginia, and five loss Duke.

There isn't much left.

The A.D is looking for someone that will win a national title in 3 years. They weren't looking at any assistants, or G6 programs. I don't know what their plan was, there wasn't a slam dunk guy out there.

I think they thought they were just going to get Cignetti. I can't think of anybody else, they can't have believed they were going to get Dan Lanning, Ryan Day, or Kirby Smart.

Maybe how they treated James Franklin, after he turned the program around after Sanduski and the sustained success, scared off the top tier coaching candidates? The job is not as good as Penn State fans and boosters believed it was, which sadly they are finding out the hard way.

Possible, but Penn State has a reputation of not firing coaches. I think Penn State was viewing their situation as similar to Georgia, under Mark Richt.

The problem is Georgia was willing to hire an assistant, and Penn State wants a proven head coach.

I think Penn State is just too picky. Oregon and Ohio State were open to hiring assistants, it's worked out pretty well

The era of using an Indiana or Vanderbilt, as your coaching farm system, are over.

Oregon Fans Will Love What Tosh Lupoi Said About Dan Lanning

Former Oregon Ducks defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi is the new coach of the Cal Bears. Lupoi returns home to the Bay Area after playing for the Bears from 2000-05. In his opening press conference, Lupoi didn't hold back on Oregon coach Dan Lanning and explained the process of leaving the Ducks.

Lupoi's plan is to return to Eugene to game plan for the playoff while simultaneously build his staff with the Bears. Lupoi said that he had already interviewed three candidates for positions on his staff. However, Lupoi made is very clear that the Ducks in the playoff will not be pushed to the side.

“Over my dead body would I be walking out on the young men in this organization, if given the choice. And so I’m gonna finish what we’ve started there," Lupoi said.

“Ultimately, having this opportunity to go coach in the playoffs, yet again, is gonna be one of the most driving forces for us in our success,” Lupoi said. ” … Every waking second of my life will be devoted to the success of this organization, when I’m away from game planning the opponent that we’ll learn come this Sunday, I believe at 10:30 a.m. …
