Love the way the Oregon-Georgia game is listed as being played at a neutral site.

Well, Mercedes Benz stadium is 71 miles from Sanford Stadium, so they are technically correct as the game isn't played at UGA home field.

Yes, technically correct. 🙂

So maybe an SEC team will play Oregon at a neutral site such as Las Vegas?

Las Vegas wouldn't be an equitable comparison for Duck fans, distance wise.

the problem is, there are no major stadiums available in similar driving distance.

Note that with an 8 game conference schedule every SEC team has at least 2 scheduled Ws vs lesser opponents OOC and many have 3 scheduled wins. Without that 9th game, 7 SEC teams have scheduled their way out of a potential loss. Look at the ACC schedules, another conference with 8 conference games and the OOC schedules are much the same as the SEC.

Exactly.

But I'll bet lots of Duck fans would drive/fly to Vegas. Not sure about Georgia fans.

Yep. The only option 70 miles from Eugene is a baseball stadium, the home of the Keizer Volcanoes, seats 4,254.

How about the Reser Stadium? 🤣😜

Back on the topic - Looks like all SEC schools finally play one OOC game at their level at least... Kudos.

Arkansas looks to be braver than the other SEC teams

You would think there would SOME shame in playing Sam Houston, Appalachian State, and UMass!  Good thing Texas A&M got all those recruits!

And Mercedes Benz Stadium is 2600 miles from Eugene. Hmmm... seems fair to call that a neutral game to me. Actually no, it may not be a home game for Georgia, but it's no where close to neutral!

Only because when that Cincinnati game was schedule was at a time when they were a safe win. Times change and teams eb and flow.

That is what makes so many of these non conference games such an annoyance from a fan perspective.

Are we scheduling instant classics or a one sided beat down? It's a coin toss when it is a decade or more away.

No shame. That's the SEC and smart playoff scheduling. BTW, because of the Michigan cancellation of the H+H with UCLA, no team has an easier OOC schedule in 2022 than has the Bruins.

Meanwhile, Oregon plays 'at' UGA an also plays BYU at home,

Playoff? How can you have a so-called Playoff with this kind of difference in scheduling?

When the SEC schedules easy ooc games, it's great. But if PAC-12 schedules such teams, suddenly it counts against them for strength of schedule.

I believe they don't play any away ooc games unless it's a marquee game. The PAC should and can do the same. No more playing games with BYU, Boise State, Fresno State etc unless they're in Autzen or other PAC stadiums.

Teams should stop scheduling out 10 years.  They should only be allowed to schedule out 5 years.

SEC and ACC have their schedules set, so they have most of their teams have a chance to be bowl eligible.  They also game the system to make the playoffs.  Pac 12 did an extremely poor job of being the 1st conference to go to 9 conference games.

The next round of playoff talk should include all conferences be on the same page for scheduling in conference and out of conference.

Give the LV promotion machine a crack at them, and they’ll have those puppies believing the slots will come up triple peaches every time.

Which is one reason why one-off games should not be scheduled. UGA home + home, perfectly fine with me. But playing UGA in Atlanta is NOT playing the Dawgs at a neutral site. Also, the Dawgs have often played in Mercedes Benz Stadium (MB) including playing Bama in MB in 2021.

Interestingly, the Dawgs record in MB is not good. Georgia does have a Peach Bowl win over Cincinnati played in MB, but UGA has never defeated Bama in MB. Of course, when the usual opponent in MB is Bama in the SEC Champ game you are not likely to have a sterling record.

Florida is one of the many SEC schools with upcoming H+H series agreements with Pac-12 teams. And UF will not be tripping to one of the LA schools in 2023, it will be visiting Salt Lake City and Utah. Washington State? It plays the 1st game of a H+H series at Wisconsin this season. Arizona has a H+H series scheduled with Alabama.

No more excuses about SEC teams only agreeing to play away games in LA vs the Pac-12.
