I too am thankful for the wonderful surgeons in Eugene. My back last year and my wife’s recent breast cancer where he removed all of the cancerous tissue.

I've been in the minority when saying I want Jedd Fisch. He's a Florida graduate, he builds his roster primarily through recruiting, and he has a sharp offensive mind. The only question with him, is he has only been at his current and past gig, two years. But, he took a dumpster fire Arizona, and led them to ten wins his second year. He has Washington getting incrementally better. He's a better long term answer imo, and he doesn't carry the baggage that Lane has. I might have my words used against me if he(Kiffin) does great at LSU. But I'd prefer a guy who doesn't publicly make it known he might take another job. Ole Miss has had to deal with this three times already. Worse yet, he is doing it during their best season ever. Lane might come to Florida, but he is a guy that would openly flirt with being the Cowboys, Dolphins, Jets, Browns, or whatever NFL opening. No thanks. If it's him, I'll wish it well. I would hope he would prove me wrong, but I doubt it.

Let’s not forget the next year - 1987 - the Red Sea parted twice in back to back weeks. SC and Washington die in Autzen and we don’t even get a bowl bid that year. My senior year. Could have used a Rose Bowl invite that year and kicked off the rise in Duck football sooner than 1994. Or was the 1987 season just a dream? I seem to remember that the Blue Bonnet Bowl had reps at the Civil War game that year. I was excited to see Texas at least. But noooooooo.

"All they have left is an unproven assistant at Alabama?" Didn't we get an unproven assistant from Georgia just a few years ago? I think it turned out OK. Beavers need to get the right guy who can do well at Corvallis. Like how Chip did well at Eugene, but not so great at head coach anywhere else. I don't think an established coach from somewhere else will work for them. Neither will a has-been player jock. They need somebody HUNGRY to kick butt and prove himself. I'd like to see the beavs do well again. I'd like to see them win their conf and get a playoff game. Wouldn't be great for the Ducks to play them in the playoff (instead of a beat down exhibition game)? I want the northwest to make noise in the college football world. (Ducks, beavs, Doggiestyle, WAZZU and Boise St).

I am thankful that my daughter, a UO alumnus, was able to get successful surgery, today, to reattach her glenohumeral ligament (the one that holds the bicep tendon in place). Guess where? At the Slocum Center, by one of the marvelous surgeons who regularly attend OBD. Amazing how paths cross!

"In my opinion the conference champ game is a waste of time." Not always great for strategy of your favorite team... but it's the best football weekend of the year! I think the reason why 'we' are not quite so into it is because our old pac12 is gone. If we were playing Washington or USC for the pac12 title, we would all be jacked up for it! Right? Especially a Friday night game in Vegas, bro. If I had the extra time and cash, I would buy a ticket and travel to it. As far as winning the Big10 goes, we did it last year. Kind of did the deed, and bought the t-shirt. Now its is on to bigger things like winning a home playoff game.

Yeah, people are crabs, they always want to pull you down by point out anything you do bad. They'll never admit we are any good, we'll be the zeros untill we win the Natty, then they'll still hate us, but it would shut them up a little. We just need to be happy after each win, talk our trash after each win.

I never thought of him as a Beavis honk as much as a driving narrative to preserve himself honk. My lack of regard stems from how frequently he’s just flat out wrong with his “scoops”. I swear I have better connections than he does.

I don't think he cares about any person or team in sports. I think he simply like to muck it up to get subscribers. What I am saying is that I find him to be entirely made of artifice and thus I avoid his work. I actually shudder when I turn on Steve Tannen at 3 and accidentally hear Clownzano's voice instead.

A Happy Thanksgiving to the OBD Family. As you gather with others tomorrow: Count your blessings and those of your families and friends. Practice forbearance and patience, even with that crazy uncle with the tin foil hat or the aunt that sneaks turkey and stuffing into her purse to take home to her twelve cats. Be kind to the relation that sits on the opposite end of the political spectrum from you (or is a UW fan), and won't shut the **** up about it. Smile, think lofty thoughts and help clear the table and rinse the dishes. Thanksgiving is a uniquely American holiday, rooted in our humble origins and the need for a common currency of individual rights and laws that protect the diversity of our populace. That currency remains a magnet that draws people to our shores. We are not perfect, nor has our historical execution of liberty been ideal, but the achievable dream of a more perfect union endures. I know this is off topic for Oregon sports and If I have annoyed anyone with my sappy message, I do apologize. Nevertheless: Happy Thanksgiving and best to all tomorrow. Go Ducks and Beat the Fuskys!
