  2. What has also become quite interesting is how College Coaches and NFL Coaches don't really overlap anymore. If you want to be an NFL coach now you work your way up the ranks through the NFL, and that might mean you coach a position at college for a while but you move up into the NFL the first chance you get to start moving up the NFL ranks. College coaches are pretty much the same, just circling around colleges and moving up the ranks. Sure there are exceptions... Tosh Lupoi was a position coach in the NFL become he made his return to college at Oregon but to get to the NFL he arguably took himself down a rank from DC (at Bama though he may have already been demoted, his time as DC at Bama wasn't great) to position coach. Then there are the catastrophic failures to make the jump. We all know the Urban Myer failure taking over the Jags after being one of the best college coaches. And now Bill Belichick is underwater at North Carolina and he is considered one of the best coaches in the NFL of all time. Both leagues are the same sport but they might as well not be because they have shockingly little interaction in terms of talent pool. I'm not saying Lanning wouldn't be successful in the NFL but he seems built for college football.
  3. I dont like the Fuskies winning but this does make the Ducks look great.
  4. Huskies cruise in the second half winning 38-10.
  5. It doesn't hurtbdor Washington that Boise State lost basically ALL their offense in Jeanty. BSU has had a fine year in the MW but nothing too outstanding for them. Their record isn't what it was last year for sure.
  6. And Husky fans don't seem to like Fisch much. They mostly liked Chris Petersen. In year two Fisch is already matching Petersen's biggest bowl win in six seasons as the UW head coach, the 2019 Vegas Bowl win 38-7 over Boise State. 😉
  7. If I were projected to be a top-5 pick I'd 100% leave for the NFL. No question. Bo Nix was lucky to go to the Denver Broncos, but that was at pick #12- which is basically in the first third of the draft. Being #1-#5 gets you wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more money. If Dante Moore stays and gets picked worse than #12, then that might be a bad sign for our season. We need to keep things stable and not lose more than one game in the regular season (ever, ha!). If the Ducks are 11-1 or 12-0 next season, then Dante Moore will be exactly where he will be come this draft: a projected top-5 pick. So, destined for the Raiders, Browns, Jets, Giants, etc. I don't buy that he'll learn "so much" my finishing his senior season. If Herbert and Nix were projected to go in the top 3-5 after their junior years- they'd be gone as well. I think Novosad might be OK. I hope we don't see that Brock Thomas walk-on guy- what on Earth was that all about? Was Novosad out for the season? I say we need to dip into the portal once again if there is talent there. Cincinatti's Brenden Sorsby would be a good get if he doesn't declare.
  8. Like Lanning, I don't think he's after F'U amounts of money. The 5-10 million he'll have at age 22 from Oregon NIL compounded for 40 years at 8% is already an ungodly sum, major generational wealth. He from Detroit, he does even have a clue what to spend money on. He already waited one year to invest in himself getting better, which ironically also reduced the amount of games/plays he's participated in. Why would he not wait again when he knows he would benefit a lot from one more year in college playing ball? He's coming back unless he sees Mehringer as a problem/risk and we win a Natty. I don't think the former is the case, and odds on the latter are still kinda low. He's coming back.
  9. It's not FOREVER, it will just SEEM that way...
  10. I wish people would give a score when they post for everyone else... 24-3 Washington at half, as the Huskies look MUCH more talented than Boise State in the trenches, and also with the skill people. Run blocking against the Broncos is much easier than against Oregon, and Husky receivers are getting open easily compared to a few weeks ago vs. OBD. Washington defenders are overwhelming BSU at times, and the talent difference was quite a surprise to me. Damn...Fisch is going to have NINE wins in just his second year? Pretty impressive considering the tire-fire he got handled to him... Put Some Ears on Him and He Kinda Looks Like a RAT?
  11. You could also add San Francisco and Phoenix to the West.
  12. “My next goal on there was ‘Head coach, 35.’ I wanted to be a head coach, and I thought that was really important to me. Well, I became the head coach of Oregon at 35. The next goal on there is NFL coach,” Lanning shared, before dropping a major truth bomb. “That ain’t on my goal board no more. It’s off my board, and it’ll never be up there again.” “When I took this job [at Oregon], I made a promise to my kids that they’re going to graduate from the same high school, middle school. Those things are way more important to me than getting the opportunity to coach in the NFL. I used to have that dream; that’s not a dream of mine anymore. I truly believe this will be my last job,” Lanning concluded. The SportsRushOregon HC Dan Lanning Reveals He Will Never Dream of Bein...University of Oregon head coach Dan Lanning revealed that he will never pursue a job in the NFL for two big reasons. Sorry puppies, Coach Lanning seems like he plans to be in Eugene for a LONG TIME…
  13. If Novosad and/or Moga enter the portal, Dan will probably go fishing regardless. No harm in bringing in a good backup if Dante stays, or possible replacement if he leaves. Question is, does someone else want to play the Dante game of a possible 1-year back-up role? Me, I've got enough to worry about in regard to the coal haul that I will probably receive in a couple of weeks.
  14. Maybe, maybe NOT!!! On that we can all agree. SCO Ducks
  15. I don't see that happening in "this world" as word would get out. I think Dan is fine with anyone, coach or player, seeking what they perceive as a better opportunity.
  16. This article is behind a paywall. A Huskie fan asks; Why is Oregon Coach Dan Lanning rarely mentioned as a candidate for some BIGGER-NAME schools that have lost coaches, such as Penn St., LSU and even Florida? As a Washington season ticket holder of nearly 50 years, it would not bother me to see him go down the road to another school! -Rob M - Jon Wilner answers; Lanning has been clear about his desire to remain in Eugene, both because Oregon offers him the resources to win at the highest level and because his family is happy. In fact, he put his money where his mouth is upon signing a contract extension in 2023 (that has since been amended): The deal includes a massive buyout of $20 million, suggesting Lanning was content with the terms that most schools with vacancies would consider exorbitant. Essentially, he took himself off the market. In exchange, Oregon offered more security and more money, with a deal that was worth roughly 7 million annually at the time but has since been amended (to approximately $11 million). The Ducks have a first rate coach who wants to stay so they moved aggressively to keep him. That said, he's not a forever coach in Eugene. At some point he'll look elsewhere. There are only a few jobs that might lure Lanning away - Georgia is probably atop that list - but if the right NFL franchise has a vacancy in coming years, he could very well be tempted. I certainly enjoy all the misery the loser Huskie fans have for all things Ducks!
  17. West - SoFi, Allegiant Stadium in Vegas, and the renovated Coliseum, with additional remodeling coming before the Olympics. Midwest - Vikings Stadium, Minneapolis, Colts Stadium, Indianapolis, Ford Field, Detroit. But I liked your answer better than mine. 😁
  18. Why on Earth would a departing coach do that?
  19. Where would you have them play in the west? I've been to the Rose Bowl twice. It's an awful place to watch a game because the rake on the stadium seats is too low. You cannot see nearer your seat than the middle of the field regardless of whether the persons in front of you are standing or sitting. Seats are built for the size people were in the 1920's and we're a lot bigger now. Rows are too close together so that a woman passing by you to get to her seat has to rub . . . well, on second thought . . .
  20. The chances are high for the NFL if the Ducks win the Natty. If not??
  21. You must be an optimist. I see it as a bad bad game. One of them is going to win, and that's bad.
  22. The other woman reportedly broke it off with Coach Moore on Monday and notified Michigan. He then sent her several texts and showed up at her house. Threatened his life with butter knives?! Yahoo NewsWoman Broke Up with Sherrone Moore on Monday — Then She T...Former Michigan football head coach Moore was charged with felony home invasion and misdemeanor stalking days after he was fired by university
  23. Charles, I agree that it is likely that we will not know Dante's 2065 status until OBD finish their run the playoffs. At the same time I believe it is very unlikely that Dan Lanning will not know.
  24. Yesterday
  25. Problem is....we won't know if Dante is leaving until after the CFB Playoffs, but the portal closes before then and many of the top portal QBs will have already decided. It could put us in a tough spot....
  26. I'll bet Poncho made Bear better in practice, and vice-versa.
