  2. Coach Lanning’s respond on Notre Dame not making the playoffs: “Well, I think it’s flawed, but, again, the one thing you control is winning. So, anybody that’s complaining that they’re not in [the playoffs] that means they didn’t win enough. Right? So, it’s your fault if you don’t make it. There’s definitely some things that could be different. If you’re in it, it means you won enough and if you didn’t it means you didn’t win enough,” — Dan Lanning https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/other/dan-lannings-blunt-message-to-marcus-freeman-notre-dame-amid-playoff-snub/ar-AA1Sai9g

  8. Lanning has been able to see Mehringer in meetings, coaching, and listening to him on the headset at games to know after three years if Drew is up to the job. I too, and curious to see upcoming offensive tweaks.
  9. I had to go over and check their board after our game with the Bastard Huskies, and I am seeing the same changes of attitude I saw from USC fans. They claim that Oregon is doing it because of money, (no surprise) but Washington fans acknowledge there is great coaching going on in Eugene. The absence the extreme level of malice that I used to see for years...is astounding. Frankly...it was hard to find much, and it was all pretty routine and underwhelming. Such a change from the past! "If Demond had a played a good game, not even great, we probably win." "UNike has a $40 million roster this season and the UW does not. Ohio State has far more blue chip talent than the UW does. The UW simply does not have that level of support in $$$ from its big wallet guys. Both OSU and UNike will be Top 5 in the CFP rankings..." (When USC and Washington fans complain about money...I laugh. There are more multimillionaires in the Seattle metro area than anywhere else in the US...other than Silicon Valley. All those tech companies? Huskies are lazy at raising money...) "For us old timers, how the Ducks did it was identical to what we would do to them under Coach James back in the day especially down in Eugene. It is the same formula the casinos use with their slot machines. Set them for the houses advantage, turn them on, and eventually after enough times and button pushes the house always wins." "This why I felt that there was very little chance that the Huskies could beat UNike yesterday. The talent difference is still just too great." "I said last week that I hate Oregon. Nothing changed after this game. The simple fact was Oregon was better than us Saturday. It kills me to say that. But they beat us in every phase of the game: Offense, Defense, Special Teams, and Coaching. They made plays when they had to do it. It’s a shame because this was a winnable game, we simply didn’t perform well enough to win and they did. I don’t see Oregon as a top team going into the playoffs, but they did what really good teams do and were able to finish us off." "Let’s go win a bowl game and carry momentum into 2026… and root for any team that plays Oregon in the CFP." "I used to think Tosh Lupoi was a slimster, but it today’s world he barely moves the needle on the slimo meter."
  10. Beavis and Huskies are waayyy beyond...sporting confrontations. They be personal! Carry on senor', carry on! 😁
  11. Lanning has done enough to simply trust him on these decisions, if it doesn't work out then it's on him. I'm not that concerned really about Mehringer, I'm sure they all know what sort of coach he is, of course the one thing that is of a little concern is the play-calling, but you have to think he has impact on that this year if he's now being given the keys.
  12. I have faith the coordinator hires are solid. Especially Hampton... Mehringer will get a chance to prove himself. It will be interesting to see who Lanning hires to fill some of the holes now left by promotions. In the past couple of cycles Lanning has done a mix of internal and external hires. Samples was outside for running backs where as Michalowski and Wadood were internal promotions. Showing willingness to promote from within is a powerful recruiting tool for any staff positions.
  13. Great article Steven! I think both coaches will do great in their new roles. I am however a little more excited to see what wrinkles coach Merhinger is going to bring to the offense to stamp his identity on it. Go Ducks!
  14. DL will need to hit the portal. He should be searching for a couple of position coaches. It will be interesting to see the level of experience he brings in to fill those positions.
  15. Micro...you are very kind, as my needling of Beavis and the Bastard Huskies carry quite a bit more antipathy than the good natured fun the JMU site is having.

Fun Stuff!
  17. I am sure everyone noticed that not one "from Oregon" was on the list. Says a lot about our coaches evaluation talents.
  18. Here's my question. Are there any pieces from Michigan's recent recruiting class that we want and might have a chance at? Recruits are already putting in for releases.

  21. Glad I bought tickets to the game as I don't have access to TBS or HBO, I was surprised that those are the stations carrying it.
  22. So great to have an article contributed by a core member of this forum, Steven A.! I had not thought of where he was going with this, but he makes good points and conclusions. Our thanks for the article!
  23. Humbly disagree. After the 1st two games, ND's schedule was far from robust. Notre Dame's best win of the season was against No. 16 USC in a game played in a monsoon in South Bend. All of the ND and Miami metrics were close. Close enough that head-to-head results, pursuant to PO committee procedures, came into play. Everything and anything else is subjective sophistry. Miami won. Notre Dame lost. In real POs where teams qualify for the field based on their record, losses count no matter when the loss happened. You cannot overcome a loss by looking good while beating up teams with weaker rosters. The only reason Miami over ND is an issue is because of worthless interim rankings, so ESPN can make more money. BTW - Under the ACC's Eat What You Kill PO revenue policy, put into place to settle the lawsuit with Clemson and FSU (😁), Miami will share little PO revenue with the ACC and the member teams.
