Oregon Transfers are Landing in Some Eyebrow-raising Destinations
The patients are now running the asylum, and have created their own formula: 1) get recruited and sign letter of intent, but remember who also wanted you. 2) wait. 3) enter transfer portal. 4) sign with one of those who also wanted you (or someone else) for a boat load of NIL $$. And who can blame them? They’ve just flipped the script, and taken advantage of the greed that now has college football by the short hairs.

Dylan Raiola A Duck
One thing to seriously consider: Raiola isn't sitting behind a 5 year veteran like Nix or Gabriel to learn from. He's going to be next to a peer that's roughly at the same level of development in their respective careers. OBD better hire one heck of a QB coach soon.

Just as long as there wasn't a caveat to hire his dad, uncle, grandpa, or third cousin to the coaching staff. You should be good to go.

Oregon Transfers are Landing in Some Eyebrow-raising Destinations
The transfer portal has been an instrument for players to get more playing time. That seems to be their primary motivation. Schools are using it to fill key holes they've lost and much needed depth. This makes my feel stronger about moving to a 24 team playoff. It appears even the elite teams will have difficulty maintaining excellence behind their starters. The Portal is like unrestricted free agency in the NFL. I believe lower graded four stars would be wise to go to the lower tier OR programs and mid to upper tier G6 programs instead of signing with the programs with a stockpile of talent. That group will not only stand out, but with the right production, they'll rival the high 4 star and 5 star players for NIL money. If I were a QB, if definitely go to Purdue, Rutgers Mississippi State or similar programs because they can dominate anyway, get valuable experience, and land a lucrative NIL deal and start for a title contender without having to earn the starting role. Schools are just as shady as the players. They're cutting loose the guys that won't play, and telling some players they don't fit their respective systems. I think coaches need a full bowl scouting department so they can find the high school played that can start immediately. And find lower graded players they can develop into starters on the cheap. There are too many hits and misses in recruiting classes these days. Sinx and day 0

Oregon Transfers are Landing in Some Eyebrow-raising Destinations
There were 29 Ducks in the portal, including Beaver, and walk-ons. Of the 29, 25 have found spots so far. Of the 25, 20 have found new homes in a Power4 program. 20 suggests to me that Lanning and his staff knew what they were doing when recruiting them. Unfortunate it didn't work out.

As a true freshman he probably assumes he will redshirt 1st year where ever he goes. He still has 5 years to play 4.

Oregon football lands commitment from former 5-star CB and Ohio State transfer Aaron Scott JR
The Oregon Ducks just pulled a great transfer portal pickup. Oregon has addressed a growing concern in its secondary, landing Ohio State transfer cornerback Aaron Scott Jr. following his official visit to Eugene. Scott, a former five-star prospect out of Springfield (Ohio) High School, committed to the Ducks out of the transfer portal after spending his freshman season with the Buckeyes. Oregon was heavily involved in his original recruitment and made his final group before he ultimately signed with Ohio State, making this a long-standing pursuit finally come full circle for Dan Lanning’s staff.

ESPN and SP+ Bill Connolly's In Depth Look at Miami, Indiana, and the Champ Game
Bill Connolly is one of the best pregame prognosticators. I posted this article elsewhere, but I think it deserves its own topic. Come on, Hoosiers! Make a B1G 3-peat happen! Then, perhaps, mid-level B1G teams will not be treated like dog meat by pollsters? And a win against the bottom 6 of the SEC will not be a big deal. And the 2030 media money? Even B1Gger than expected. ESPN.comCFP National Championship preview: Keys to victory for In...Will the Hoosiers cap an undefeated season, or can the Canes pull off a stunner? Here are the keys to the game.

What to Know About Upcoming Playoff Changes…
Regarding CFB's future, here's a nugget from Jon Wilner, formerly of The Pac-12 Hotline, which is now The Wilner Hotline. ($ wall) Michigan's new leader is Kent Syvered, transferring to Ann Arbor from his former job as Chancellor of Syracuse University. While at Syracuse, Syvered led a group of college presidents intent on having the biggest college football and basketball brands, leaving the NCAA and its rules and regulations behind. The group disbanded, and we haven't seen the formation of a Super Conference, but wait a minute. New CFB media deals begin in 2030 with the B1G. The B12 in 2032, and the SEC follows through 2034. The ACC exit fee drops every season through 2030, to a 'reasonable' $75 million. ESPN's exclusive playoff broadcast deal ends in 2032. It was Michigan, with an assist from USC, that blocked a B1G private equity deal that would have had B1G media rights pledged to the 'lender' through 2042, and possibly through 2046 if the 'lender' exercised an option to continue for four more years in 2042. Without the B1G, the Super Conference would not be Super. "Hail, hail to Michigan, the leaders and best." Hmmmm. 🤔

The Playoffs are Taking Sooooooooo long that I have already lost Quite a Bit of Interest.,,
As everyone, including university presidents, conference commissioners, coaches, and fans know, the college football calendar is FUBAR in every respect. But TCB, This is College Football. Thus, expect no common sense changes. However, in the NFL today, you can watch 'Big Ten QBs', OBD's own Bo Nix against Buffalo, and USC's Sam Darnold versus the 49ers. Sunday, tune in to watch Ohio State's CJ Stroud against the Patriots, and the Pats QB Drake Maye, who OBD took down in the Holiday Bowl. Then, watch USC's Caleb Williams go against the Rams. Also, because the better teams get home games in the NFL PO, what a concept, the games will be played in interesting weather conditions, with fans in some locales dressed up like Eskimos. 😶🌫️ Seattle, a tropical 42 degrees - Denver, a high of 35 degrees decining during the game with a possibility of snow - Boston/Foxboro, below freezing with snow expected - Chicago, a balmy 20 degrees with snow likely. Then, continue the NFL PO parade by pretending the Miami vs Indiana champ game is akin to a Monday night game between the Dolphins and the Colts on ESPN. Miami weather at Championship Game kickoff - 60 degrees or higher. WIMPS! 🤬

Press Release: Lanning Promotes Hampton, Mehringer To Coordinator Roles
Crazy thing is that many players are being paid more than the coaches these days. I saw the salleries of these two the other day and both are making less than 2mil. A lot of big name players are making double that or even triple that if some reports can be trusted. I mean that freshman tight end at USC is supposed to be making 2 mil a year and he hasn't even played a down of college football yet.

Press Release: Lanning Promotes Hampton, Mehringer To Coordinator Roles
The Ducks should be the preseason number one team or at least top three. They have the most stacked QB room in the country. Their receiver room also has to be top five. They should be able to get any QB coach they want. Let Mehringer stick with his strengths as Tight end coach while trying on the new hat of OC.

The Playoffs are Taking Sooooooooo long that I have already lost Quite a Bit of Interest.,,
I had students raking a test earlier this week... So I sat there checking any transfer portal news constantly. But otherwise I am moving into off season mode. I won't watch any of the championship game. With a 3 and 1 year old at home the ONLY games I get to carve out watching time are Duck games. I frankly don't care too much about who wins the national championship. I won't be happy with either winning but it is what it is. It's kinda funny for me because I football season but I generally hate the begining of the school year because as a teacher it is pretty boring with a lot of paperwork and not that much fun because you don't know any of the kids yet. So oddly enough right now my classes are more fun to teach but moving away from football season itself. I have other stuff to focus on at this point. I guess I'm ready for a bit of down time.

The Playoffs are Taking Sooooooooo long that I have already lost Quite a Bit of Interest.,,
There will be big TV interest at game time, but unless you are in Bloomington or Miami the media/print interest (other than ESPN) seems to have softened considerably due to the long run out to get there. While it would have been great to have Oregon in the game, I was just thinking a couple days ago how my daily activities this week were significantly different than if I had been checking the Internet every 5-10 minutes for updates. laugh

I somewhat agree. It seems almost like the break from the Spring game to week 1. I will DVR the game and check the score occasionally before I watch it. If it is a close game in the 4th, I will watch the ending. But I am rooting for Cig. I have to give the man his due (after googling him). I think he and Indy are a breath of fresh air.

Article on Possible Transfers to Oregon
I’ve read that Oregon has lost interest. Seaton is making schools deal with his uncle and he wants to be paid to visit. This is on top of his asking price. Maybe DL has realized this is the type of situation that can ruin a culture. Meanwhile, he’s in Miami getting police escorts around tow to get him through traffic which is understandably heavy this weekend. So, they will probably give him what he wants. Miami has also gone all in on QB Darian Mensah from Duke. Apparently, they’re willing to buy out his Duke contract and terminate it. He will allegedly receive $10 M, an Adidas deal, country club housing and bring his sister in to play soccer+NIL.

What to Know About Upcoming Playoff Changes…
Can we just get 12, 16, or the 18 best teams? Have the first two rounds be held on campus, and pair the lowest seed against the highest seed in each round, on both sides of the bracket. Make the postseason start the week after the CCG weekend. Also, no transfer portal business till the off-season. Same goes for coaching hires. If you are being payed to coach, or play for a team, for a season. You finish that out. No other profession allows you to just leave in the middle of your working shift because somebody came up and offered you another gig. Imagine a pilot, surgeon, chef, postal worker, welder, construction worker, ride operator, or ice cream distributor, and you just up and leave in the middle of what you were doing because you wanted to go somewhere else. "Sorry Mr. Kiffin, your daughter is going to hold off on having her first child. Doctor Rouge just got offered a better opportunity at another hospital. He had to do what was best for his family."
