Could Oregon Miss the College Football Playoff?
💯 I too am baffled. Making the playoff and losing in the first round is better than any other non-playoff scenario imo. Anything can happen in a tournament and being able to say “we’ve made the playoff every year” would be something very few programs will be able to say to recruits. Certainly better than talking about losing the Frosted Flakes Bowl.

Love your hot takes, but I would guess if MSU opens up, it’s because JS gets fired. He feels a bit damaged to me. I like your OC suggestions, I’m not particularly attached to Stein personally. What is it, year 2? Pppht. There will be absolute recruiting carnage once the coaching dominos start to fall. We could lose a few if Stein goes, but there will be a TON out there to be had.

It's REAL: 'They Don't Know Us,'....Even NOW?
The photo was taken in Upper Nile State in 2011 just after the formation of South Sudan. The guy was utterly confused as to why a random white guy was walking around his remote village and why I wanted to take his photo.

I am not sure that Stein will leave--even with all the openings. If his alma-mater, Louisville opened up, then I see him leaving for that for certain. But beyond that...he might just use job offers to increase his contract at Oregon--which I am in favor of to hopefully keep him here longer.

Oregon Ducks’ three keys to victory against Iowa Hawkeyes Offensive coordinator Will Stein needs to create his best script of the season against Iowa to get his unit back in the rhythm they were in early in the season. It’s easier said than done, but we have seen Oregon start fast against some of the best teams in the country, so it doesn’t seem like too much to ask for.

CBS writer thinks Ducks are built to solve Iowa, Kinnick StadiumSwimming contrary to this flash flood of national negativity about the Ducks ("Who have they beaten?" "What's their best win?" "That November schedule is so tough.") is CBS writer Cody Nagel, who writes, "The Ducks have repeatedly shown they can handle hostile environments, giving them a blueprint to silence the Kinnick crowd while putting pressure on Iowa's weaknesses." Every game is different, and how this one unfolds is a script not yet written. That's the beauty of sports. "The most pivotal thing is us being able to win at the point of attack, dominate every play in and out and being tone setters," Ducks offensive lineman Emmanuel Pregnon said. The Ducks understand the assignment. They know the weather will be cold, the stadium will be loud, and the locker room is pink. If they're able to shut all that out as they have before, they have more talent, more speed, and an offense with better balance and more weapons. Crazy Coaching Carousel Could Seriously Affect Ducks
Darren, thanks for the article! The coaching merry-go-round is just a few weeks away from kicking into high gear. I agree that WS will get offers. UCLA would be a good landing spot because the school itself has low expectations, the program had no plsce to go but up and their 35 fans don't care. Will needs a $10 to $15 million NIL committment from the Bruins. He has great talent to work with at Oregon because of NIL. It' played a role in his success. Going from UW to UCLA would be a step down for JF. If he leaves it most likely woild be to Florida or LSU. He is a quality coach that can build a winner and proved his teams will defend their home turf. Not a great deal of high qiality coaches to choose from. Only a few schools have the deep pockets to pull a top level coach away from their current spot. This Duck fan refuses to look past the Iowa game. Not because I don't believe OBD's can win the game! Because they can win it......... I just don't know what Duck team will show up. Other than the Rutgers game the Ducks have struggled offensively in conference play to put up points. Iowa is the best defense they will play so far. Points will be scarce and hard to come by. Play clean, no turnovers and coach punt the ball, if necessary. Give the Haekeyes along field. The Hawkeyes don't wilt against top 10 teams. And they defend their home turf very well. The Duck D will win this game! Iowa's offense will try to run but the Duck D can stack the box. As long as the Duck ends hold the edge then IOWA has to pass. They have no deep threats. They are excellent at sending the TE on a loop behind the linebackers for 7 yard gains. Or quick slants to WR. Stop those safety net plays and the Duck D could pitch a shut out. The Hawkeye DC, Herbie and the Hawkeye beat writers have given OBD's ample bulletin board material for motivation. Go Ducks, prove them wrong.

So What's the Offensive Game Plan Against Iowa?
This should be the strategy, but I will add one more thing. Punt the ball out of bounds. Their returner averages 25 yards per return and has two touchdowns. He also has eight kickoffs for 262 yards (long of 100 yards) and one touchdown so OBD should probably kick away from him. He could be the difference between a one-score win and a one-score loss.

Crazy Coaching Carousel Could Seriously Affect Ducks
Wisconsin is giving Fickell another season. That came out yesterday. I don't think Smith is welcome back in Corvallis. There are many good, young OC's out there right now who could replace Stein. Namely, Jordan Davis (UNT), Landon Koepple (TX State), and John David Baker (ECU). They all have top rated offenses in CFB. Josh Pate said this the other day on the Bussin' podcast: “Let’s just keep an eye on Lincoln Riley at USC.” There is speculation that if Aranda get s fired at Baylor or McGuire gets lured away from TTU then he's gone. Dr. Jack's Hot Take of the Day: Fisch leaves UW and Jonathan Smith replaces him. Brian Kelly replaces Smith at MSU. You heard it here first.

2025 is priming up to be a coaching carousel, the likes of which we have never seen. Many of Oregon’s opponents might make a change, which, of course, could affect the Ducks moving forward. UW’s Jed Fisch has ties to UCLA. If he bolts to the Bruins, will the Huskies replace him with a winner or a loser? Lincoln Riley ... Crazy Coaching Carousel Could Seriously Affect Ducks

So What's the Offensive Game Plan Against Iowa?
You're on fire Solar. WRs raising their hands is a great one. They're open too much for Moore to miss. So part of this will be Moore's ability to determine which side of the field to key on based on alignment. When a QB only has two seconds, he needs to read the correct side of the field. Throwing WRs open would help (for those unfamiliar with that term, it means throwing the ball to a specific area BEFORE the WR makes his cut. It also includes making the LBs and Secondary pay for always looking at the damn QB-by looking away from that designated area). I hope Stein uses RPO tactics to figure out how Iowa will attack the running game. Pass first and determine the blocking schemes to counter their strategy. I happen to believe Stein is reacting quicker to what defenses are throwing at him. I also believe Lanning was certain we could have lit up Wisconsin throwing the ball, but decided to show teams we will stuff it down their throats at will. I think Lanning is playing the long game-that he will start introducing this weekend. OBD will have to shred pass defenses in order to win the title. And I mean shred. Stein showed me lots in the Indiana game. He cracked their code, but QB Moore went into a shell. You were spot on Solar about Moore bearing the burden. I think he reads zone defenses fine, but he is gun shy. Moore will need to come out of his shell. He has decided to return next year (a very wise move since he is still learning on the job and the extra 12-16 games will make him NFL ready). My thoughts on him are he needs to pull the trigger like Val Kilmer did in Tombstone. He has to make quicker decisions, with unbridled confidence. That hopefully has started in practice the past two weeks. This team will ride the fortunes of Dante Moore. By the way, I also believe the offensive line starts blocking with fury when the freshman are in the game. They truly start plowing once they're in regularly. To me, that means Whittington should be used for passing situations far more often. I don't even care if opponents figure it out. They still will have to stop them, and I don't believe anybody can. Including Ohio State. Those are my thoughts on the matter. Slowly unfolding an offense that will rip you to sheds because they can is what I hope happens. I even hope the coaches simply tell the players it's on them, and that they have complete faith in their ability to pull it off. It's all about confidence, and let the process develop that confidence. Put the best players in position to kill it, and let em play. Do you think Stein will start pulling out the kinds of plays he did against Montana State?
