  2. Top college QBs might be getting over $5m this year…not sure the $$’s supersede all other considerations at this point. I get that it’s a lot less than a top 10 pick gets (Cam Ward 4 year, $12m/year I believe), but it’s really not a no brainer any more to jump at the money.
  3. Since they are going with green helmet, I would have gone with green pants. But a good look all the same. The yellow trim on the numbers goes good with the yellow feathers on the helmet.
  4. YES! Give me at least some of that old school ball.
  5. Does Dante need to play much better or is it on the offensive coordinator? Hmmmm... I think it is a bit of both. I like the fact that Dante has had a full season leading this team for the rematch. Will Stein has also had a full season as OC with this current unit. The offense has a new O line this year, new QB, some different receivers and two freshman RBs who are playing a lot. I think that the experience of playing together for 14 games is going to make a difference from the last effort vs Indiana.
  6. Close, but not the same. Different helmet. Darker green with yellow feathers that don’t fade. White jersey with dark green collar, numbers on the shoulders instead of wings. Darker green in the hat and the numbers. Much better look, something OBD can use to wreak havoc and extract revenge. Go Ducks, Hammer the Hoosiers!
  7. I rarely see the wildcat work with the exception of short yardage situations to get a first down - if you don't need a QB to hand off the ball, then you can put in an extra blocker. But I do like that option with 10 offensive linemen and someone running who is a wrecking ball like Colt Lyerla. Right now I'm thinking Kenyon Sediq. I agree with the slot suggestion. That concept has seemed to be absent since Tez Johnson left. I think the team will use more TEs to get out quick in the middle of the field. Having a Deanthony Thomas to make quick moves and get open would help. Right now, I don't think the Ducks have that kind of player. I also can see using multiple RBs as blockers and options. We might see some bigger bodies as H backs. RBs being used as receivers would nullify a lot of what Indiana does on defense - which is send the house at the guy who has the ball. I also think we might see some extra offensive tackles to provide more blocking. I don't think the Ducks can beat Indiana's front 7 with just their standard offense. The run game won't get enough yards and Dante won't have time to throw. Oregon will have to make adjustments for Indiana.
  8. I think he is good and improving and has potential to be great but I really don't get all the Number one pick hype. It seems like he needs a lot more development in reading the D scanning the field and finding the best option. The examples posted above prove the point. I saw a replay from the Indiana game of a 4th down play and an open receiver crosses write in front of him but he doesn't throw it. Instead he tucks and runs and comes up short. Bo Nix completes that pass and the drive remains alive. Bo Nix was also a senior and is now leading an NFL team into the playoffs. So is Justin Herbert, another QB that stayed for his senior year. The NFL will always be there but the opportunity to train yourself for long term success will not and that in the end seems to me to be the most important factor.
  9. Yep. I saw them, wrote about them here in the forum as well. But I had hoped he has improved since then....
  10. George Wrighster has a good analysis of the IU/UO game and shows where Dante missed several WR's on one play several times throughout the game. He's not ready for the NFL and hopefully comes back for another season. He's the key to a win Friday night.

  12. I personally hope Dante comes back. He is still young at reading the defense, and needs to gain more confidence in remaining in the pocket. The League is a major step up and adjustment. Guys need a minimum of snaps before moving up. I don't think DM is there yet. I know it seems like a no-brainer to go 1st or 2nd qb in the draft, but you want the best chance of success. Those early draft picks go to lousy teams. I hope for his sake (and ours!) he waits 1 more year. Remember, both Justin Herbert and Bo Nix had some negative talk to overcome which allowed them to go to teams better suited for them. Marcus didn't have such good fortune.
  13. Dan Lanning is on a quest to destroy the “bad luck” narrative.
  14. He did that numerous times through-out the season as well. He's still a young qb that needs more experience.
  15. Great take. But it took a miracle at Penn State, a late-game TD at Iowa, a missed FG by Ohio State that could and should have sent the game into OT, and a late score against OBD for Indiana to be 14-0. This season, OBD won similar games at Iowa and Penn State. Dante has grown, and the defense is playing together and better. I can't imagine the O-line playing worse than it did in early October. I think the Oregon offense will again be able to run the ball against the Indiana defense. This is not Saint Nick's Alabama. This is not Saint Nick's SEC. Hats off to the Hoosiers for the beatdown of Bama, but the Rose Bowl was a sequel to Bama's opening loss at FSU, where Bama could not run the ball. Bama's four wins in a row vs SEC-ranked teams? Meh. Two of the teams, Mizzou and Tennessee, did not defeat a P4 opponent with a winning record. It's hard to fathom, but OBD's OOC schedule was more difficult than Indiana's. Indiana struggled against Old Dominion. I think the Peach Bowl will again come down to the team that wins the 4th quarter. I'm not Ducking my thoughts. Along with my betting buddies, we're taking OBD +4.5. I know it's counterintuitive, but we also have the game going over the O/U 46.5. (That's an O over a U 😁) Come out Smokin'. Put out the Hoosiers Cig.
  16. In the first screenshot above...note that it is 3rd and 14, and Dante had already thrown to the check-off receiver, but downfield we had Benson (green arrow) and Sadiq (yellow arrow) breaking open for the first down. Earlier in the play--you would see that Dante was not pressured at all, and could have easily stepped up in the pocket and delivered to either open receiver. In the second screenshot above, it was 3rd and 11, and Dante already threw to Benson on a short slant that got six yards is all. Moore was not pressured, and you can see that Sadiq (yellow arrow) is breaking open. Throw it hard, and you beat the free safety instead of checking down for an eventual punt. In the final example...everyone has seen or heard about this, but look at the above screenshot as it is 4th and 2, and Sadiq (yellow arrow) is breaking open long and Dante has time to throw! So the questions are....is this Dante not progressing, and simply deciding in advance he's throwing to the check-off man, or was this the game-plan....to throw quickly no matter what? Something to watch for against Indiana, because at least when we played the Hoosiers in October--Dante was under pressure and folded, while what you see above is either hesitation, or game-plan. Which is it? (Screenshots taken from the Skycast view offered by ESPN that we rarely have access to)
  17. Montana State (that we played), vs. Illinois State I believe. Hopefully someone else has the start time and station info handy.
  18. We broke that streak, so time to bust another!

  21. My many Duck-Buddies...I have shared with you about the Spammers who try to register, about the AI bots who try to penetrate our forum, and now I have had to fight off TROLLS who try to register and trash-talk us. When people register...I ask for their "Oregon Story" and I have learned how to distinguish between AI, Spammer, a real Oregon fan....and now the Trolls. I will call the phone number of the registrant to confirm they are legit, and three times recently--either I got a false phone number or after receiving a voicemail and text to call me...they refuse. Busted! This takes a lot of time upfront, but it relieves a ton of problems later for the moderators and I--and most of all for YOU. I do not want my Duck-Buddies subjected to some of things I get in emails sent to me. (Although some are pretty clever insults) Geez. The trouble we have to go through to keep a clean forum! What Trolls Want to Leave Behind...
  22. Uniform has bold green and yellow, therefore = BEAUTIFUL
  23. Agreed. The new helmet I like better with a more pronounced yellow wings...it is different enough!
  24. Traditional whites with the "First Round" helmets look like a taking-care-of-business set. These are clean and mean!
  25. The jerseys have several different details than that 2023 game. The shoes were green then, white for the Peach. The helmet "feathers" are also different.
  26. I like these uniforms.... and if this is the uniform redemption tour so be it!
