2025-2026 Oregon Ducks Basketball Roster
Since our Ducks have a football bye this week, I thought we could take a peak into our upcoming basketball season. This year 15 scholarships are allowed. Oregon currently has 17 players on the roster. Three of these players are Luke Johnson, Drew Carter and Rian Gonzales. I believe these are walk-on players. Please correct me if I am wrong. That would leave 14 scholarship players. I'm wondering if Coach Altman will add another player this late in the year. I have read a few articles about the upcoming B1G Ten basketball season and it's a bit disappointing. The Ducks are ranked anywhere from # 8 to # 10 in the league this season. With Jackson Shelstad out for a month, this just adds insult to injury. The dreaded Huskies were even ranked ahead of our Ducks. Disgusting! It is a long season and hopefully every one stays healthy from here on out. Go Ducks! The players: Efe Vatan, Jackson Shelstad, Dezdrick Lindsay, Takai Simpkins, Oleksandr Kobzystyi, Luke Johnson, Rian Gonzales, Kwame Evans Jr., Drew Carter, Sean Stewart, J.J. Frakes, Ege Demir, Devon Pryor, Wei Lin, Jamari Phillips, Nate Bittle, Miles Stewart.

Jackson Shelstad out 4-6 weeks -- all of preseason practice
My heart sank when I read this. I'd hope he stays out the full six weeks. I'd hate to see him return to soon and reinjure his hand again and be out for half the season.

QUAAACK! Five-star Tajh Ariza Commits to Oregon
That's great news to hear. But I read that he plans to be a one-and-done. We'll see how that pans out. But if it's only for one year, that's better than not having him at all.

Sources: Big Ten Mulling $2B Private Capital Deal
Using assets (ability to generate income), and creating a security with very little liquidity creates the need for the Private Equity Firm to secure a favorable deal. Private Equity will need to generate a return on investment that pays for their internal management fees (1.5 to as high as 2.5% is common), and also a high enough return to offset the liquidity risk to investors. The security would need to pay investors a higher return than investment grade bonds (AAA to BBB ratings). Bonds pay interest and return principal upon maturity, and have a very active market to sell when needed. I would simply question what is the underlying motive for entering into a deal like this when you will be paying higher than normal market rates.

Week 6 College Football Games -
First, make sure to read Darren Perkins' excellent and humorous Bye Week article. Three FBS teams have not trailed in a game to date. Miami, Maryland, and Texas Tech. All three teams have challenging games today: No. 3 Miami (- 4.5) at No. 18 FSU; No. 11 Texas Tech (-11.5) at 5-0 Houston; and No. 32 Maryland (+6.5) hosting UW. Maryland is often undefeated in September, then October happens. Mike Locksley is 0-9 coming off a bye week and playing a Big Ten opponent. Long trip East for UW after battling with Ohio State in Seattle last Saturday. Terps vs. the Huskies will likely be the closest Big Ten game of the week. Penn State at UCLA, Michigan State at Nebraska, and Illinois at Purdue should be wins for the visiting teams. Home teams should prevail in Wisconsin at Michigan, Minnesota at Ohio State, and the Louisiana-Monroe Wart Hogs (!) at Northwestern. The only Top 25 vs. Top 25 games today are No. 3 Miami at No. 18 FSU, and No. 16 Vanderbilt (+10.5) at No. 10 Alabama. ( Hmmmm. I recall one loss, FSU defeating one loss Bama, no?) The one Top 25 team in action last night, No. 23 BYU, defeated Rich Rod and West Virginia. A lesser slate of games than Week 5, but strange things happen in CFB when least expected. Enjoy and get ready to Lite Up Cig!

2025 BIG Info, Predictions, Etc. (11)
We aren't quite at the midway point of the Oregon Ducks' 2025 college football season, but with a bye week taking place just one game before they reach the technical halfway point, we figured it would be a good time to take stock of things and assess what we have seen so far throughout the first five weeks of the year. By just about every metric, the Ducks have been great thus far, storming out to a 5-0 record and picking up arguably the most impressive win in all of college football so far, taking down the Penn State Nittany Lions on the road in double overtime a week ago. The Ducks have climbed up to the No. 2 spot in the US LBM Coaches Poll, and they will have another test on their hands next week, with the No. 9 Indiana Hoosiers coming to town. Before we get into our deep preview of that game, though, let's take a chance to look back on the first five weeks of the year and hand out some awards, recognizing the players and positions who helped Oregon get to this point. Here are our midseason awards for the 2025 season: Handing out midseason awards for the Oregon Ducks after a 5-0 start

Oregon Football: The Bye Week Blues
Just makes OBD's accomplishments that much more impressive! Do we want to see this "scheduling bias" continue on into the future...NO...but very few other teams would succeed through this "B1G initiation" (half shares and all) in the way the Ducks have so far. Makes me proud of our program even more. 🦆🏈🪨's

QUAAACK! Five-star Tajh Ariza Commits to Oregon
Always exciting to see a good prospect signed. I hear you on the “abandoning” of the team, but imo it’s not because of the arena. I’m in PDX and had the option of going to any game I wanted for free last year, and went zero times College basketball in general has become pretty boring in the regular season imo. OBD teams the last few years have been relatively mediocre and Dana plays an old school brand of ball….football has raised the bar, squeaking into a field of 68 no longer moves the needle like it used to.

QUAAACK! Five-star Tajh Ariza Commits to Oregon
I knew it, ha! I'm excited for the BB season! We need fans in Eugene to show up in order to get us to being a top program. Matt Knight Arena is actually in an excellent neighborhood and the arena itself is great. Eugenians have abandoned the team to a degree because they are too obsessed with Mac Court and the past. Move on!
