  4. "The Ducks have been doing that and it might be just what they need. Adding a body but not committing a body." Seems like a work in progress? I see Theineman with 16 total tackles so far in 4 games. Mostly it seems like his tackles have been more in his traditional role rather than crashing the box (but I could be wrong, and I do think he has been very good). Singleton, Allen, and Allar had 29 carries for 283 yards and 2 TDs at 9.8 yards per carry. The Duck offense won the day; but, it put up 45 and I don't think PSU has ever given up 45 at home (so a repeat offensive performance would indeed be historical). I was thinking about another big body in the box and maybe sometimes a safety crashing. If the defense slows the run and makes Allar to complete 25+ passes and make maybe a dozen tough throws (without Warren to throw to), and your offense isn't able to save the day, maybe you feel ok tipping your hat and thinking about a rematch?
  5. Not much to do there. State College is pretty small and VERY hard to get in/out of. If you’re driving from any distance, allow yourself plenty of time.
  6. This talk reminds me of last year after wins in our 1st three games. And we ended up 12 - 0. The real season is about to start. Lots of great games remain. It's too early to be in top form. We improve every week. And it's a looonng season. I think we are doing what's needed to win. 1st real test is this week. Can't wait for the game. All of you going to the game, please yell LOUD!
  7. The 1st-ranked team that Indiana has defeated under coach Cig. 481 yards in the Hoosiers' favor vs. a top 10 team is a CFB record. Indiana's 63-10 beatdown of a top 10 team is a CFB record. Are you not entertained? 🤪
  8. I think moving a safety down closer to the LOS might help keeping the explosive runs at bay. The Ducks have been doing that and it might be just what they need. Adding a body but not committing a body.
  9. In the regular season last year the Duck front was only described as being "pushed off the ball" a single time I saw, against Penn State. Penn State returns three of its best starters from that game, gets back a starting RT who was lost for the season in game 10 who is now a RG, in large because the guy who replaced him is returning at RT after being so good in the playoffs he won the spot. They also appear to have a strong blocker at TE and some OL depth. Plus, two future NFL RBs. Their OL pushed the Duck DL in part through effective use of double teams, and often got bodies comfortably into the LBs. If somebody with a more accomplished eye would like to comment that would be appreciated; but, at least to my eye, making moves to "load the box" has been a step the Duck D has largely been reluctant to regularly commit to. I'd like to think steps like "better run fits", "improved eye discipline", etc, etc fixes the gap from last year but don't know it will prove that simple. Overwhelming an opponent with really good players and taking an easy 4+ yards all day I won't say is undefeated (but goes a long way). Taking out a sack and a kneel down, I think 20 of PSU's 32 rushes last year went for 4 or more yards, including 10 plays of 10 or more yards
  10. A week ago, the Oregon Ducks revealed some of the most special uniforms that we have seen to date, breaking out the "Shoe Duck" combination to honor Nike co-founder Phil Knight, and all that he has given to the program in Eugene. Now, with a massive Week 5 game against the Penn State Nittany Lions on tap, it appears that the Ducks are once again getting into their bag when it comes to uniforms. On Sunday, we got a sneak preview, with Oregon revealing that they are breaking out new cleats for the game, called the "Mummy Duck" Vaporposite cleats. At first glance, they look to be all-white cleats, but when you flip the switch, the glow-in-the-dark mummy mode is activated. Oregon Ducks unveil 'Mummy Duck'
  11. Instincts and circumstances led James Ferguson-Reynolds to tuck it on fake punt Oregon's fake punt wasn't called, punter James Ferguson-Reynolds says. He read the OSU defense, took the ball and ran it.
  12. IF the CFP was based on today's AP Top 12, then No. 11 Indiana would be out. No. 12 Tex Tech would be in as Big12 rep, and No. 27 USF would be in as Non-Power 4 rep. USF would take the No. 12 spot, and Tex Tech would move up to No. 11. At No. 6, Oregon would host Tex Tech.
  13. Indiana wiped the floor with Illinois. They also played with great intensity. All those sacks! That's the kind of fire we need to see from the Ducks. So far they haven't played with that kind of intensity against a strong opponent, since they haven't faced one yet this season.
  14. I get it! But Jonah Colman could be the best RB in the B1G, and Williams is a capable QB. This Saturday, I will not be surprised to see Williams play as well or better than TOSU's Julian Sayin.
  15. Miami has Mario-I rest my case.
  16. Reminds me of last year when before the season started people were talking about if Oregon could adjust to BIG "play". Well, going 9 - 0 in football and 7 other league championships later (the most in any conference we have been in), it seems we'll be ready for anything they want to throw at us. It is not like we haven't played in big BIG games before. I think we are 3 - 0 in our last three trips to tosu (1) and Mich (2). JUST SAYING
  17. I watched the Apple Cup last night and the announcers sickened me with their constant praise of the Huskies. They proclaimed the Husky running back to be the best in college football several times. Then the claimed their QB to be the future of college football. Gag.
  18. Last week, Texas Tech held Oregon State to 22 yards rushing / 0.4 YPC (42 yards / 2.6 YPC, excluding sacks). I wouldn’t be celebrating Oregon’s vaunted defense quite, yet…
  19. Marcus playing well for Washington at the moment also. Go Ducks!
  20. Based on results to date, Miami could be ranked No. 1. Why is Ohio State No.1? A seven-point home win over overrated No. 10 Texas? Miami has defeated ranked Notre Dame, No. 28, and the highest G6-ranked USF, and a Florida team with a Blue Chip roster. Notre Dame was close, but the Hurricanes blew out 😁USF and Florida. Week 6 is the ACC showdown, Miami at FSU.
  21. Good gosh...what a ton of interesting games next Saturday!
  22. It's the Sports Information Directors Poll.
  23. Putative AP Poll Playoff - Rose Bowl - No. 1 Ohio State vs. No. 9 A&M at No. 8 FSU Sugar Bowl - No. 4 LSU vs. No. 12 USF at No. 5 Georgia Orange Bowl - No. 2 Miami vs. No. 10 Texas at No. 7 Oklahoma Cotton Bowl - No. 3 Penn State vs. No. 11 Texas Tech at No. 6 OBD No. 12-ranked Texas Tech knocks out No. 11 Indiana. No. 28 USF nocks out No. 13 Ole Miss.
  24. Gameday has jumped the shark (OK I did not really see a shark in the pool when Mcafee jumped) But They have taken their buffoonery to a whole new level.
  25. Coaches poll continues to show that coaches either don't care or don't pay attention to games. No way Maimi is No. 6 with their resume. And I'm no big Mari fan.
  26. Ive watched a lot of football this year and a lot of replay games on YouTube in the off season. Very few teams play perfect football on any side of the ball for any set of downs.
