Will Henry and Lott both end up at Oregon?? I like the chances right now.

The 5th seed is a million times better than the 4th seed for us. If we get the 4th seed bye, it will be 4 weeks without a game (one more week than last year) going against a team that had a nice warm up game the week before in a game with a 2-3 touchdown spread playing at home.

The non B1G and SEC teams don't have to worry about losing a play-in and having to rely on getting one of 3 at large berths. This is why 24 is the better answer than 16 once you move to play-in games.

The more you get out of the committee's hands the better off college football will be. Of course they will deny this, but the conspiracy theorist in me says they decide who they want in the CFP then work backwards to justify it. Is ND really better than Miami? They have identical records and nearly indentical SOS, but ND gets the nod despite losing the head to head matchup. This defies logic. The "eye" test is really just a beauty contest based on who the powers that be think would draw more eyeballs. Personally I love the play-in concept for championship weekend. The top 2 conference finishers play each other for the 1-2 seeds, #3 plays #6 for the third seed and #4 plays #5 for the fourth seed. This year's B1G play-in games would be (caveat not sure how the tie-breakers would work): tOSU/Indiana 1-2 seeds. OBD/Iowa #3 seed. USC/Michigan #4 seed. SEC would be: Georgia/Bama 1-2 seeds. Ole Miss/Okiehoma #3 seed. TA&M/Texas #4 seed. Losers could still receive an at-large bid. It's ridiculous that Miami would be left out in favor of JMU and Tulane, but that could very well happen. Not shedding any tears for Mario, but seriously in what world does this make any sense? Maybe not a perfect system and should always be considered a work in progress, but if Bama loses and gets dropped out in favor or Tulane and JMU, the SEC will just blow the whole thing up.

I see a mix from last year to this year. the secondary - would ANY of those guys last year start for them this year - absolutely not this O line better run blocking, last year better pass blocking D line - better last year, Jordan Burch has not been replaced, Derrick Harmon was a stud Linbackers - Betcher is better this year with more experience, the other side mostly about the same QB - I like Dante's throws, but I like Dillon's decision making better Running Backs - this year is far better Receivers and TE - this year is more explosive, but there are injuries, last year Dillon was 'dialed in' with his receivers Overall, I like this year's team better. Higher ceiling almost everywhere except the pass rush. Better run offense, better run defense Better pass defense (worse pass rush, too many PI penalties), spotty pass offense, but can be great at times I don't see this year's team being taken out of a game by a more physical team. That includes everybody. The playoffs are Oregon's to win it, or blow it, depending on what they do. I don't think the Ducks are 'crisp' enough to play enough mistake-free football, unless they somehow can put it all together. I give Oregon a real solid chance to compete for a title. But they are going to need to clean up issues they had all season long.

Yes, it's silly. A "championship game" is something everyone should WANT to play in. If they don't, time to drop the game.

Thank you, Darren. Great take. Spot On in regards to last season's PO format that dinged the Ducks. Worthy coordinators like Danno leave and move on up. As Lanning knows, it's all part of the process. The time off before the first round of PO games allows Will and Tosh time to meet their new job back slapping and press responsibilities, and time to prepare for, hopefully, a G6 opponent. I doubt that new wrinkles on both sides of the ball will be dialed up vs. North Texas, Tulane, or JMU. All three of these G6 head coaches are leaving their programs for P4 jobs. (Debatable in the case of NT's Morris to OK State and JMU's Chesney to UCLA 😁) 2024-25's fouled-up format was exacerbated by Gurus of Grapevine having Boise State with a miserable SOS, ranked higher than an ASU team, which would have defeated Texas in the 2nd round if an obvious targeting penalty had been called. The combination dropped 6th-ranked Ohio State to the 8th seed. It was TOSU's 2nd loss 😁, but would the Buckeyes have won it all if not for being upset by Michigan and the players telling Day, and Chip via Day, to open up the offense and throw the damn ball to some 'pretty good' receivers. Thanks, WTD, for the Gruden post, but our B1G commissioner, Tony Petitti, has previously figured out what to do with conference champ games. As part of a 16-team PO with automatic qualifiers, flex scheduling would allow conference champ and PO play-in games to be played in the final week of the regular season. Here's to rooting for the Dawgs and the Red Raiders to keep seed No. 5 alive!

The NCAA manages college football playoffs. The folks at ESPN are all about managing and broadcasting big-time bowl games, while making sure folks behind closed doors, using metrics hidden behind closed doors, when the stats support preconceived ideas, teasing college football fanatics five times before the final reveal. That this season's final reveal will happen on a Day of Infamy, December 7th, is perhaps prophetic as well as ironic. I believe this could be the last, or the penultimate 😁time, college football's poohbahs allow this subjective sideshow to continue. Thank goodness, 3-loss Texas and 2-loss Vanderbilt will not be in the playoff field. With the committee 'snubbing' two SEC teams, and the SEC going to nine conference games next season, I think the SEC, including Commissioner Sankey, the SEC ADs, the SEC coaches, and the kids' hydrating players on the sidelines, once upon a time known as Waterboys, may be ready to support (in Sankey's case again support) Big Ten Commissioner's Tony Petitti's automatic qualifier (AQ) Playoff (PO) Plan. ESPN was asked and agreed to extend the new PO format date from December 1, 2025, to January 23, 2026, for a reason. Dan Lanning said both Stein and Tosh will be coaching in the playoffs. Will Stein, Tosh Lupoi staying for Oregon’s playoff run Oregon’s coordinators are staying on through the College Football Playoff. Duck offensive coordinator Will Stein was formally introduced as Kentucky head coach on Wednesday and defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi is reportedly bound to take over at Cal. Dan Lanning confirmed both will be staying on as No. 5 Oregon goes through the playoffs.

On Wednesday, Lanning and his staff saw four-star passer Bryson Beaversign with the program, potentially the next to step in among a string of successful quarterbacks for the Ducks. During Wednesday's press conference, Lanning broke down what the recruiting process was like in receiving the commitment from the 6-foot-3, 200-pound passer. "Quarterback is always a unique position," he said. "Getting to see him throw in person, I think, is always a big piece of that, trusting your evaluation skills. And this is a guy that obviously got really hot towards the end, and had a lot of opportunities in places that he can go."
