Josh Pate's Epiphany About Mario Cristobal In Real Time (Must Watch)
Traeshon Holden spits in face of opponent in high profile game. More egregious than a celebration penalty. No rage display on sideline by HC. Just a different style of coaching. Some coaching styles get better results than others.

What Will the Playoff Committee's 1st Ranking Reveal - Will it Come Up B1G?
I'm not so sure. The committee doesn't want egg on their faces, so I think they will give SEC type bias to their top 25 for loses to teams ahead of them. Otherwise it is almost like saying "I guess we screwed up". If we win a tight game with Iowa, depending on what other ranked teams do, they may stay in the top 25. After OBD, they travel to sc then coast with Sparty and Neb. So, lose to us and win out, they will stay in top 25. No credit if we beat Minnesota although they are on a bye and are 6-3 right now. If sc wins their next 2, then they will be in top 20 and won't fall out with a loss to us. ewe dub looks like a cakewalk till they play us (Wisc, Purdue, UCLA). So, they will be ranked both before and after even with a loss.

Byu and Texas Tech in the top 10 is a joke.

It's REAL: 'They Don't Know Us,'....Even NOW?
Agreed. I wore my Ducks hat to an Ole Miss game earlier this season. Several of their fans — students mainly — gave me a “Go Ducks!”. Charles is right, they’re likely only superficially familiar with the program, but you gotta start somewhere. And at least now even casual CFB fans know how to pronounce Oregon.

Looks like both football and basketball are relying on walk-ons as QB2's. Hurry back Shelstad / Dante stay upright.

UT and Oklahoma's grades are puzzling. They're beneficiaries of the SEC self-licking ice cream cone.

Very much so, unfortunately I don't think DA has the NIL funds to really go after the premium transfers. We also never seem to get impactful freshman even when they are 5 stars. Last year was frustrating mostly due to TJ Bamba forgetting how to shoot, if he had just shot as well as his averages from the previous 3 seasons we would have been a vastly better team. We haven't upgraded anywhere on the team, and we might have regressed in multiple spots. We don't have a good backup point guard, we don't have a dynamic wing who can light it up from deep, our backup center looked worse than Cook (it's early though). I do think we have more depth at the 4 with Evans and Stewart. We'll know a lot more after the Player's Era tourney. Auburn almost lost to Bethune-Cookman so that's something to consider when we play them in the post-Bruce Pearl era.

Josh Pate's Epiphany About Mario Cristobal In Real Time (Must Watch)
Damn, Mike....just what I needed....a mature voice in the room. I've had SO MUCH fun with Mario over time, and really should not have enjoyed his losses as much as do, but I NEVER SAID I WAS NOBLE. You are right; we owe a lot to Mario because he took the confidence in recruiting that Taggart began, and built upon it. And yes...he did a lot of winning before things started to turn downhill in his last year, but the bottom line is I should appreciate what he gave us. And I do.... Now I go back to lampooning him! He'll Get Clock Management Figured Out...

Fields was an incredible recruiting win over USC at the time... The defensive backs coach has just done an incredible job recruiting, as you DO expect to lose a No. 3 player at any position although usually they are closer to Florence's age, and not Fields. Dakota sees the future; if Fields cannot dislodge Finney or Iffy now, it will be even harder as they gain game experience. It makes retaining Devon Benjamin (below) at corner that much more important for the 2026 recruiting class. EVERY major program wanted him...look at this list and it is all the elite teams, as most analysts feel he is the best corner in the nation.

Josh Pate's Epiphany About Mario Cristobal In Real Time (Must Watch)
We'll have to respectfully disagree. I believe there are times when a coach should erupt. Maybe not that particular issue, but players need to understand limits. And boundaries. Which behaviors are unacceptable, which have grey areas. Kalen DebBoer learned that exact lesson. He hard to be hard nosed enough in order for the players to respond when necessary. Furthermore, players must learn respect. For the game, for other players. For something outside themselves. I betcha DL gets on their behinds. We just never see it. Maybe that is what is preferred. Private lessons. As to Mario, that interaction has nothing to do with the way he loses in my opinion. He simply makes poor decisions, and in many instances, has little grasp of the pulse of the game in the moment. Those are two entirely different issues as far as I am concerned. I highly doubt Miami players even know of this dressing down. For why would they play for a man that is "out of control"? I root for Mario because he contributed to Oregon's ascent. I believe he had to go in order to salvage any opportunity at a job like Miami's because the book was out on him-at least for us. He ruined the greatest offense Oregon ever had - The Gulf Coast-and wanted to entirely junk explosive plays as a matter of course in Oregon football in order to prove how good of a coach he was. Cristobal routed Utah when we thought they would boat race us. He won two PAC12 titles beside himself. He won a Rose Bowl as well, going counter his tendencies. He contributed to our current status. And yes, he chewed out a self absorbed player that could have cost the team a loss. That is why I like Cristobal. I'm still glad he is at Miami. But he will stay in Duck lore forever in my mind because I doubt Dan Lanning comes here if not for what Cristobal laid as a foundation.

Metrics? Notre Dame, with a loss to 2-loss Miami and a worse SOR than several 2-loss teams, is at No. 10, the highest-ranked 2-loss team. Baylor AD and committee chair Mack Rhodes went out of his way to explain that Oregon was dropped three spots from its AP ranking (Rob, cancel that series with Baylor!) because of its schedule to date, while justifying ND's ranking on the Irish looking good in the eyes of the committee. Suddenly the Transfer Portal poses a mild danger Oregon's playoff hopesBoth were third on the depth chart and both have left the team eight games into the season. While neither has played since the blowout wins in early September, it's still a blow to the depth needed for practice reps, special teams and as insurance against injuries. Fields and Florence will land somewhere, tall, talented cornerbacks with above average speed and good coverage ability. Fields earned a four-star rating in the class of 2024, 6-2, 200 from Junipero Serra High, straight out of Compton, California. The loss of either is not damaging unless the Ducks suffer a corresponding run of injuries at defensive back, keeping in mind that a long season is potentially little more than half over-- it takes 16 games to win a national championship now, and Oregon is 7-1. Autzen ZooSuddenly the Transfer Portal poses a mild danger Oregon's...Kids want to play and further their NFL dreams. It's only natural that on a deep and talented roster a few players will drop off and hit the portal.

#9 feels right, honestly. Beat Iowa, USC, Minn, and the mutts on the road...we'll be hosting a game as a 5 or 6 seed. Cracking the top 4 would not be out of the realm of reality either given the chaos we'll see in the next few weeks with B12 and SEC teams beating each other up, then the conf. CG's. Just need to take care of our own business. Iowa will be the toughest. Dante will continue to grow hopefully, if it clicks soon we could be pretty good down the stretch

What Will the Playoff Committee's 1st Ranking Reveal - Will it Come Up B1G?
Just like last year’s Alabama team, these teams never talk about the other teams they lost to. Don’t lose to a Florida team with a losing record, if you want to make the college football playoffs. If Texas and Ole Miss were both, 10-2 then you can make the case that Texas had the harder schedule and they should get the nod.

But who would he supplant on the receiver side of things? Justus Lowe started some games last year with Tez injured and he has barely seen the field this year. The receiver room has a ton of talent in it as well.

One thing last season’s OSU game (and 2013 Tennessee and 2017 Nebraska) taught me was Oregon fans have no problem parting with their tickets if the price is right. However, I do realize that there were a few Buckeye fans who bought Oregon season ticket packages just for that game.

Ah, yes. I was thinking of OU with the Michigan win. Notre Dame just has Pitt left. Don't forget that Texas and OU will likely have at least three losses each. OU has to go to Bama and Texas hosts UGA and ATM.
