Josh Pate's Epiphany About Mario Cristobal In Real Time (Must Watch)

“Cristobal may be the Robert De Niro of the coaching fraternity. Can attract the money for his role plays, but dumb as a rock when the chips are down.” Robert De Niro?

Oregon's Pass Defense: Is it Really a B1G Deal?

I maintain that Indiana had a fantastic defensive game plan that tested and defeated an inexperienced quarterback. The plays called by Coach Stein worked, as we had open receivers downfield. And I maintain that if we’ve had an experienced quarterback, such as Bo Nix, or Dillon Gabriel, they would’ve stepped up into the pocket and not ran out of it, and would’ve seen the receivers down field and quickly delivered. It would not have happened every time, but with the game that close, an extra touchdown when we were tied would’ve changed the game enormously.

Oregon's Pass Defense: Is it Really a B1G Deal?

Charles, i think that the passing numbers are slightly skewered now that we reside in the BIG. Other than tOSU (clearly headed for back to back natty's), Indiana and SC the BIG doesnt have the QB play like the PAC-12 did. All around it feels like a power running conference. I still feel if WS had been patient and stuck to the inside power run game against IU, well the outcome may have been different! DL and WS asked DM too do what IU would not allow! They kept everything in front of them. And they got home to DM with the front 4 and one blitzer. 6 or 7 drives chewing up 5 to 7 minutes does not allow your opponent much time to score points. Besides you don't have to pass to beat OBD's. The D gives up the middle runs and when our edge players give up the edge, well you bounce outside. Add in that you pass at your own peril when you challenge the Ducks secondary. When we play the Buckeyes in the Natty that narrative may change. The Buckeyes can pass protect and stretch the field...... Let's hope OBD's win out and gets on the Indiana side of the bracket. We owe them a payback game. And while I respect Cignetti, OBD's need to wipe that cocky, smug smirk off his face. Hang on to the nearest rail OBDF members the next 8 games could be an amazing roller coaster ride. One game at a time, let's handle the Hawkeyes or none of this may matter. Their DC really thinks OBD's are just NIL storebought. Let's show him what a power run game is all about! Go Ducks......

Nebraska Loses Raiola For The Season

Raiola's backup looked lost. At UCLA, Bye, at Penn State, and Iowa is what's left for the Cornhuskers. Michigan is a much better team in the Big House, and away from LA, SC plays like it needs an Out House. 💩 Michigan RB Justice Haynes, who transferred in from Bama and was having a terrific season, will have foot surgery this week. We'll see what happens tomorrow night, but three of Oregon's final four games could be against top 25 opponents and bowl-eligible Minnesota, with road games at Iowa and UW. 🤬 The number of conference wins by Indiana's final three big opponents: 0, Zip, Nada, Nyet, and Nudge.

Josh Pate's Epiphany About Mario Cristobal In Real Time (Must Watch)

I find it interesting that the national media is finally starting to pick up on it. However, most outlets are framing this as an issue over the past two years, when this has been an ongoing issue with him since 2007. Mario has been a head coach for 14 seasons. He has lost to an unranked team in every single one of those 14 seasons as a head coach. In 10 of those years, he has lost to more than 1 unranked team. He still has the rest of this year to make that 11. Probably the most surprising thing is that he has not been able to really grow and change over time. He’s an elite recruiter and assembles some of the best rosters in college football. However, some things just don’t change: His teams are always undisciplined and have a ton of penalties. He believes that he can just out “physicality” everyone all the time. They are little to no adjustments based on opponent. He doesn’t take advantage of mismatches on offense. His clock management has to be some of the worst in the entire FBS. Situational awareness costs him at least 1 game a year. For comparison, Dan Lanning in four seasons as a head coach has never lost to an unranked team and has only lost one game to a team not ranked in the Top 10. I appreciate what Cristobal did to help elevate the program, but Lanning is a MASSIVE upgrade.

Beavis Can't Sink Any Lower....Right? WRONG.

This coming Saturday night the Sam Houston Bearkats, 0-8, will be in Corvallis to give the 17.5 point favorite OSU Barkrats an opportunity to make it three in a row! Will fans storm the field again should their team get the trifecta? “Barkrats vs. Bearkats” , there’s poetry in that.

Josh Pate's Epiphany About Mario Cristobal In Real Time (Must Watch)

I’ll never forget Cristobal’s reaction to the Kris Hutson penalty. As an Oregon fan/alumni, I was embarrassed at the time by our head coach’s behavior and would not want my kid playing for him.

$$$$$$ - 🤑- Six $ signs for six sick losses when favored by 20 points + 😁 Thank goodness the U's Booster Bozos Ponied Up (like SMU 😎) and took Mari-oh-oh MIA before he destroyed Oregon's brand. 🤮 -What other coach could have kept Stoned Brook in the ball game? 🤪

Josh Pate's Epiphany About Mario Cristobal In Real Time (Must Watch)

I find it interesting that a guy with such a sour face, and demeanor, when things go awry recruits as well as he does. That is not what I want to see as a player, or as a major contributor to a program.

Oregon's Pass Defense: Is it Really a B1G Deal?

This is not the first time Oregon has been a leader in pass defense stats. Way back, in the days of coach Don Reed, or thereabout, at this time of the season Oregon led the passing stats for at least the Pac-?? (not sure what the number was for the PAC, but it probably was 8 or 10). The Ducks did not have anywhere near the quality of DB's we have now at that time. The reason we had the best pass defense stats was simple. Our run defense was so bad no opponent needed to run the risk of throwing the ball. They just ran it up the middle and bead the crap out of us. I know this was the era when the beavers beat us eight years in a row with nothing more than a big fullback. There were two of them, Shilling and Pifer. Spelling may be wrong. Each of those fullbacks started as a freshman and when the first graduated the second came in. The Ducks would be ahead at half time and the beavers would just start running the ball up the middle. In those days Autzen was a mud field. If you were around then you know what I am saying is true. If you were not around then, count that among your blessings.

Well, the other serious question refers to the SEC; how good are they if Ole Miss barely beat the Cougars at home?

What You Need to Know About the IOWA HAWKEYES

Our OLine has to come out road grading. I think they are the biggest offender of slow starts on the entire team and it hurts when we can't run the ball early. At the same time Will can't wait until almost halftime to figure out Iowa is loading the box. That's why you run scripted plays for the first 2 series to see their game plan for a variety of our looks. First team to 27 wins.

Oregon's Pass Defense: Is it Really a B1G Deal?

Now keep in mind that I celebrate for any reason about Our Beloved Ducks, and if we are currently No. 1 in passing yards allowed...good. But I gotta ask...would it be the same if we were in the old Pac-12 with all the skilled passing attacks? (NO.) Does being in the Big-10 skew our defensive stats...where rushing defense yards are going to suffer, but passing defense looks good--for simply being in this conference? I say..."YES." We have yet to face an above-average passing attack this season, and won't until we play USC and the bastard Huskies. You know...former Pac-12 members? Naturally the stats are also skewed because we have not faced Ohio State, who arguably has the best passing attack in the nation at the present. Yet Oregon faced a great passing attack in Indiana, and that was not the reason the Ducks lost. So maybe we are good at pass defense? True Freshman Brandon Finney Jr. is a STUD...

Nebraska Loses Raiola For The Season

USC is Jekyll/Hyde candidate of the year to me. They control the line of scrimmage against Michigan one week, then they let Notre Dame run all over them the next. Their defense can generate sacks and pressure against Michigan State, then they can't lay a finger on the Illinois QB the next week. I'm not sure if Lincoln Riley is the guy to get USC up to a playoff caliber squad. Nebraska was that fringe top 25 team before losing Raiola. They just can't seem to put it together under Rhule, better than anything they've had since Pelini though. I'd say they are in that Iowa, Minnesota range. I can't see them making that leap up to the Oregon, Indiana, and Ohio State tier though.

Nebraska Loses Raiola For The Season

His injury is probably the only reason USC was able to come out of Lincoln with a win. His backup could not throw downfield very well.

Josh Pate's Epiphany About Mario Cristobal In Real Time (Must Watch)

Maybe Miami has a real epiphany that it is an improvement to go from "I lose games I shouldn't" Mario to "I lose the games I should" Franklin. Nah, they think they should be winning Natty's.
