We aren't quite at the midway point of the Oregon Ducks' 2025 college football season, but with a bye week taking place just one game before they reach the technical halfway point, we figured it would be a good time to take stock of things and assess what we have seen so far throughout the first five weeks of the year. By just about every metric, the Ducks have been great thus far, storming out to a 5-0 record and picking up arguably the most impressive win in all of college football so far, taking down the Penn State Nittany Lions on the road in double overtime a week ago. The Ducks have climbed up to the No. 2 spot in the US LBM Coaches Poll, and they will have another test on their hands next week, with the No. 9 Indiana Hoosiers coming to town. Before we get into our deep preview of that game, though, let's take a chance to look back on the first five weeks of the year and hand out some awards, recognizing the players and positions who helped Oregon get to this point. Just makes OBD's accomplishments that much more impressive! Do we want to see this "scheduling bias" continue on into the future...NO...but very few other teams would succeed through this "B1G initiation" (half shares and all) in the way the Ducks have so far. Makes me proud of our program even more. 🦆🏈🪨's

Always exciting to see a good prospect signed. I hear you on the “abandoning” of the team, but imo it’s not because of the arena. I’m in PDX and had the option of going to any game I wanted for free last year, and went zero times College basketball in general has become pretty boring in the regular season imo. OBD teams the last few years have been relatively mediocre and Dana plays an old school brand of ball….football has raised the bar, squeaking into a field of 68 no longer moves the needle like it used to.

I knew it, ha! I'm excited for the BB season! We need fans in Eugene to show up in order to get us to being a top program. Matt Knight Arena is actually in an excellent neighborhood and the arena itself is great. Eugenians have abandoned the team to a degree because they are too obsessed with Mac Court and the past. Move on!

It certainly helps when you have a major talent upgrade in the players around the QB. I think Stein and the program certainly do a good job developing QBs, but if you look at Gabriel he pretty much had the same type of season, difference in record was simply playing for a team with a better defense. Nix and Moore had substantial upgrades in the guys around them. I think they certainly improved their own skills while here, but it's hard to not notice how many more weapons and protection they have compared to their former teams. I'm hopeful that our next QB will be one of the guys who we recruited out of high school, it would be good to see we can develop guys from their freshman year to when they begin to start.

I honestly don't think this really means anything. I doubt a players would be talking about how eager they are leave college for the pros at this point in the year. Most players in this situation would say something similar, doesn't mean that he isn't being honest, just means it's way too early to be making predictions on if he will leave or not. I don't think anyone can make predictions in this new age of NIL, it's way too complicated now.

Awesome, I see the injury bug has returned to Oregon basketball, I guess hoping for more than 1 year of injury free basketball was too much to ask.

This just leave no doubt that Will Stein is a high level QB developer and his offense works tremendously well for players with variable skillsets.

It would be kinda nice to know which hand was broken. I don't see that info in this linked story or in Aaron Fentress' story on OregonLive. I guess I'll wait to see a photo of Shelstad post injury.
