  2. Taking Nothing For Granted Some moments stop you. They strip away the noise, the routines, the deadlines — everything we convince ourselves matters most — and leave you face to face with what actually does. 3. I agree that this is definitely the "prove it" season for Tosh Lupoi. He needs to show what he can do with an exclusively Dan Lanning team of players. If we don't see an improvement from our secondary and linebacker play then we and more importantly, Lanning, should seriously question the need for a change at DC. With the move to a 12 team, and eventually 16 team playoff, Oregon should absolutely be in the playoff picture every year. And getting there no longer requires teams to bet everything on the huge matchup of the year, and be so demoralized if they lose, that it kills all momentum for the rest of the season. Play within the game plan, stay disciplined, don't commit egregious penalties, don't get caught in trap games and we will almost always be a lock for the playoff every year. It is at that point that we start dialing up the offense as Ohio State did. We start adding extra coverage packages. We make sure we are healthy for the post-season stretch. This is how NFL teams win Superbowls, and it is now how college teams will win the whole thing with extra games added.

  8. Thanks Darren. I guess we will have to see if Tosh can change his spots this year. We also need to get Steve Young's gorilla off our back. The roadblocks we have faced: Dennis Dixon's knee; Michael Dyers knee/forearm; Cam Newton's $$$ for his father's church; Michael Penix x's 2; expanding to 12 in 2024, if it had remained at 4, no osu in the playoffs. Someday (hopefully in all of our lifetimes) we need the stars to correctly align and the time for us to not be close but actually have that cigar (other than for recruiting).

  12. Great article @Darren Perkins I’ve thought a lot about your point #1, and I agree with you. The defense is DL’s burden to make sure it’s in peak form. I’m really excited to see what Dante Moore will do. I’d make the argument he has the best arm talent I’ve seen at Oregon, so the potential is sky high.

  21. Under Construction | Cement | Fall Camp Week 4The end of Fall Camp has arrived, and it’s time for Oregon Football to cement their game plan for Week 1. A final scrimmage helps determine roles.

  23. Three thoughts of mine as we start the season… 1) Dan Lanning’s Defense Dan Lanning was brought in as a defensive mastermind who trained under the tutelage of Kirby Smart and guided those tremendous Georgia/SEC defensive squads. 24. Hey JJ, A win is a win. 😉 Just ask Boise. Remember our last year start? I'm glad to see the 4-0 start. Can hardly wait for Sat! I think MSU Bobcats may be tougher then most think. Sorry, I'm just anxious. Go Ducks! Crush them 'Cats!
  25. A unnecessary guide to the three minutes from the last scrimmage (starting about the 4:00 minute mark) shown in the video, for those of us looking for any bit of information to pour over from fall camp: • Dante Moore (#5) runs out to start the scrimmage • Dante Moore (#5) with what looks like about a 30+ yard strike down the sideline to Dakorien Moore (#1) covered tightly by Ify (#9) • Jordon Davison (#0) punches in a short TD run • Novosad (#16) throws a deep ball to Kasper (#3) that is knocked away in tight coverage by Finney (#4) • Novosad (#16) with a first down pass to Cooper Perry (#17). Somomon Davis (#15) in on the tackle • TD run in the corner by Jay Harris (#22) • Novosad (#16) to Kasper (#3) tackle by Offord (#14) for what looks like about 10 yards • "Mater Dei tackles Mater Dei", Davison (#0) tackled by Aydin Breland (#42) • Theineman (#31) tackles Kasper (#3) on a short pass, knocking ball away • Nifty screen to Dierre Hill (#23) for a TD • What looks like maybe a TE screen to Jamari Johnson (#9) who rumbles for what looks like a big gain. Douglas Utu (#55) out ahead blocking. Moore (#5) and Ponch (#72) excited on the sideline. Finney (#4) makes the final stop • LB Jerry Mixon (#54) makes a stop • Limar (#27) gets stopped for no gain then gets caught behind the line by (#55) Matthew Johnson right after getting the hand-off • Moore (#5) completes about a 10 yard pass to McClellan (#11) • Moore (#5) completes about a 10 yard TD to Bryant (#2) who toe-taps in the back of the endzone • Novosad (#16) completes what looks like about a 20 yard completion to J.Johnson (#9) who makes a great grab staying in-bounds • Novosad (#16) completes about a 10 yard TD pass to Kasper (#3) over being blanked by Offord (#14) right on the endzone sideline • Aaron Flowers (#21) blankets then knocks away a Moore (#5) pass to Sadiq (#18) in the endzone in single covetage • Moore (#5) comes back to Sadiq (#18) for the TD fitting a pass between 3 Duck defenders in Ify (#7), Mixon (#54), and I think Mothudi (#33) • Lanning and Pregnon (#75) end the scrimmage with some positive words
