  2. I don't know about 'peaking' anymore. I think it is more about players knowing how to execute their assignments without making mistakes. That and getting ready to compete against better players when playoffs roll around.
  3. Hey, he could have went to 'Action U', I mean the university of Akron Ohio. I grew up in the area. It was the place for high school players to keep playing if they weren't big enough to play at a real college. Novosad and Luke Moga could play at the smallest of venues and light up the conference - then go play on a real team their senior year. In today's world - actually not a bad strategy. It seems that the bad strategy these days is to sign with a big program that almost always gets its QBs from the portal.

  5. Lane's war chest ain't Lame. O-line was one of LSU's biggest portal needs. LSU opens with Clemson. Week 3 at Ole Miss 😁, with road games against Kentucky, Auburn, Tennessee, and Arkansas. The games in Knoxville and Fayetteville are the final two games of the regular season. 5 SEC road games are a new thing for SEC teams. In addition to Clemson, LSU plays two cupcakes at home, Mississippi State, an earlier in the season Egg Bowl game, Texas A&M, Bama, and Texas. A far more difficult schedule than the one Kiffin played at Ole Miss last season. Even if QB Sam Leavitt stays healthy, I can see three and perhaps four or more losses. Kiffin is on a very short Natty leash. Good fortune for Seaton, but none for Kiffin.
  6. Underthrowing a ball into double coverage usually doesn't work out. To do that, you need a receiver who will adjust and fight for the ball instead of staying on his route and waiting for it to come to him. Either way, Beck still had time and he did not need to make that desperation attempt quite so early.
  7. He's playing for a terrific coach in Jason Eck. Eck turned around UNM last season, including giving Michigan a battle in Ann Arbor. He was the coach at Idaho in 2023, when Idaho gave Oregon all it could handle. Eck played on the O-line for Barry Alvarez at Wisconsin. He was mentioned as a candidate for the Badgers' job before Fickell was given another season. Beginning in the FCS ranks, this is Eck's 28th season of coaching. Cignetti has opened the door for older guys stepping up to the Power 4. If Fickell doesn't improve Wisconsin this season, OBD could see Eck and Moga on the Wisconsin or other Big Ten sidelines. (Note: Fickell signed QB Colton Joseph from Old Dominion, so ... 😍 Joseph played his high school ball in Newport Beach, CA.)
  8. As I read elsewhere, remember the 1995 Rose Bowl when Big Ten Champs Penn State refused to wear the Big Ten patch, and refused to wear the Rose Bowl patch? Apparently thought it messed up the tradition of their all-whites. It was controversial at the time. In subsequent years they relented. Now maybe they'll add a patch for Habbersett scrapple?
  9. Well, soo-prize, SOO-PRIZE!
  10. Nike, Addidas and other apparel companies are not happy over the possibility of their logo exclusivity being challenged. Condoms and Cliffnotes. Love It! As much as I can recall yesteryear, I enjoyed those study dates, which occasionally, but not often enough 🤬 , turned into biology labs. 😇 I do recall Coors helping with the condoms. 👌👍😁
  11. This is a major event for CFB. It is precedent setting for all of us. If he is allowed to transfer after signing an agreement, then no contracts with any player is valid. The pay for play is bad now, wait and see how bad it gets if this case goes in favor of the player!
  12. I love Charles, er, Bryan Fischer's too-early 2026-27 PO bracket. Wins over Miami, Indiana, and Notre Dame - Sign me up! SIWay-Too-Early 2026 College Football Playoff Brackets: Exp...Is there another team in line to be the next Indiana? Will the Big Ten extend its streak with a fourth straight championship?

  14. I've got mixed feelings about this. I'd be ok with something like a shoulder patch, very minimal. But if they start trotting out players that look like Nascar drivers then 🤮
  15. NCAA voted Friday to allow advertisements on college sports uniforms opened a new revenue stream for athletic departments, as schools look to generate tens of millions of dollars to cover the rising costs of paying student athletes. Starting Aug 1., a few square inches on uniforms across Division I college sports, from football and basketball to baseball and volleyball, will be fair game for ads. 16. I used to root for him when he played at Tulane. But guys like him who lack integrity need to learn a lesson. Hope Duke teaches him one! But hey - so glad that we are not like Duke, who is just a proving ground for these players - they lost the QB to ND, Beavers and who-knows-where, in 3 consecutive seasons. Ouch!
  17. 4-Star EDGE Recruit Cameron Pritchett Updates Commitment to OregonFour-star EDGE recruit Cameron Pritchett has been a flip target for several programs despite his commitment to the Oregon Ducks. Pritchett's latest recruiting move showed his clear commitment to the Ducks. Oregon Ducks On SI4-Star EDGE Recruit Cameron Pritchett Updates Commitment...Four-star EDGE Cameron Pritchett is the lone recruit committed to the Oregon Ducks from the 2027 class. Pritchett committed to Oregon in June, but that has not

  19. At this point, it might be a little early to look ahead to 2026! It sure is fun though. DL and staff have a few spots to fill at key positions. For example, linebacker, depth on defensive front 7 and O line. Filling those with portal players or will the 2026 recruits step up. Lots of top level players on the roster and 5 star recruits getting ready for spring ball. How those spots get filled and the team jells will determine 9-3 to 12-0. Also take the time to check out the weak-arsed schedules that PSU and Indiana have next year. A number of BIG teams could finish 11-1. 11-1 will get OBD's an invite as long as they are competitive in the shoe. Perception matters and 10-2 could be borderline for the CFP. The wild card is Dante and his protection. I dont know if Dante has depth perception problems or vision concerns. He misses seeing or throwing to wide open receivers for bird bombs. One miss could be costly. We all know Dante will work hard, grow and improve in 2026. He is still playing with a teenagers body. Dante can easily carry 15 to 20 more pounds as he developes his man body. And hone his skills. His talent and execution will land him in NY for the Heismen. Now all the Ducks need some passion. Bo and Tez had passion. Malik Benson had passion. And DL and his staff need to engrain the killer instinct into the culture. This is a Top 5 program and a top schedule. Who else plays, tosu, psu, michigan, iowa, illinois, usc and washington? Indiana and PSU don't....... Can't wait for the 2026 season because it has all the makings of a Natty.... GO DUCKS.........
  20. That’s football in 2026. Neither of these QBs are guaranteed to even start at Bowling Green or New Mexico, or even backup at a good P4.
  21. Novasad to Bowling Green..Did he get lost on the way to U of Kentucky to see Will Stein? Guess he wasn't that great based on Stein's assessment. It's pretty impressive to see the depth we HAD leave in the portal. I sure hope our 2026 class of portal and HS kids can backfill them.
  22. Was announced today that former Duck Luke Moga has left the portal for a landing spot at New Mexico. 29 Ducks, scholarship or walk-on, entered the portal. All 29 have found landing spots with 23 ending up at Power4 programs. New Mexico has starter Jack Layne expected to return at quarterback. The 2025 season saw New Mexico open with a close loss at Michigan, beat UCLA at the Rose Bowl, and finished their 9-4 season with a close overtime loss to Minnesota in a bowl game. Duck QB Austin Novosad entered the portal and ended up at Bowling Green. Jason Eck, formerly at Idaho, was in his first season at New Mexico. Assisted by O-coordinator Luke Schleusner a long time assistant. As an aside, former Duck staffer David Yost is the O-coordinator at New Mexico State.
  23. Great points as always, Jon. 9.5..... seems soooo far away, the football withdrawals are starting to kick in.
  24. Thanks. Great points. It will be interesting to see how this offseason plays out.
  25. The Duck's eyes look a bit crazed in this ai picture. No way a Photoshop by Oregon itself makes the Duck look that demented.
  26. Hey, added it all up: substance abuse, hearing loss, traumatic brain injury and at age 74 still going strong enough to put it all to bed in, “The Last Sharknado: It’s About Time” AI got it right. Who could possibly be a better fit?
  27. Yep, lunch with the Brady Bunch. I'd love to see OBD in the Raiders' home stadium on 1/25/27. 😍
