But What if We Lose the Big Ten Championship?
Sandy Rocks replied to Thomallister1291's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
No one wants to see the ducks play Boise State again. Of course, the ducks would pulverize them. I see this team staying undefeated and winning the championship. They really believe this Us vs. Them philosophy. -
A Modest, In-Advance Defense of the Playoff Committee
Sandy Rocks replied to jrw's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The CFP could learn a lot from the NCAA Men's and Women's bb tournaments. They used to have byes and decided against them. A team can have a lot of momentum and then they get a bye. Yes you don't get tired from playing that game nor risk playing it. I also really like the new system of using Quads. Teams are punished when they play division two teams or teams that are not in a power conference. You can play those teams but there is a cost. -
I don't know if they have ever been ranked so early in the season. Unlike football, being ranked generally just puts a target on your back. There are many good teams that aren't ranked. I would think they would be ranked around #15. They are going to be fun to watch. They still to need to improve their play, especially three point shooting but defense will keep them in games. I am curious about USC. Last year they had a bunch of Prima Donas and played poorly. I wonder how many left or if they learned from their loses.

ESPN FPI has Texas an Overwhelming Favorite!
Sandy Rocks replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
How predictable of ESPN. Their prediction is what they want to have happen not what might happen. If wishes were fishes, we'd have some to fry. -
Great win for the ducks. They know that they can hang with the big boys. I love that final play by Biddle. The Alabama team didn't see him coming. They are going to do well this season. Lots of experience on that team.

The ducks are doing really well and are up on Alabama 49-46.. The have already beat Texas A&M and San Diego State. I wanted to watch the game but it seems delay. I don't understand it. The ducks are holding their own against some really good teams. I'm impressed.

Oregon Mens Basketball 6-0, Beating No. 20 Texas A&M 80-70!
Sandy Rocks replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Impressive win to come back from ten and then win by ten against the #20 team. They shot 61% in the second half with twenty second chance points. Third time this season coming back from being behind by double digits, a really good sign. A lot of experience on this team with a good point guard at the helm. They will be fun to watch. -
For the players on the team from last year, they had some gut wrenching losses. Lanning always seems to motivate them.

Ohio State 38 Indiana 15: What Do You Make of This?
Sandy Rocks replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Colin Cowherd has never had one good thing to say about the ducks. Thinking about the ducks reminds him of how he grew up in lowly Aberdeen, WA. I remember when he was on the radio in Portland, he was an ashhead even then. -
The SEC is Mad and They Aren't Going to Take it Anymore!
Sandy Rocks replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
All these teams need a NET which takes into consideration a variety of factors, I think 6. Then the determination is based on an objective measure. It is not fair, as many have said, to have a conference that only has to play eight games and non conference games against Division II or Division I teams that rarely have good records. I do commend the Ducks. They have always played good non conference teams, during most years anyway. There do need to be automatic bids for conference winners, I thought they were doing that but I guess not. Teams should be rewarded for winning their conference. In all the whining, I did not hear anything about the difficulty of the duck's schedule. -
Oregon Comes Back from Down 12 to Beat Oregon State 78-75
Sandy Rocks replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I am glad they played better and won the game. The first half they were just going down the court and jacking up the threes. If was the coach and a player ran down the court and heaved up a three without running a play, I would bench them unless that player was really hot. Ralph Miller, upon whom the court was named was an outstanding coach and he had a quote, "You can only shoot after the ball has been passed around five times." Of course that was before the shot clock. I remember one time, when Oregon State was number one in the country, hard to believe but true, they played Stanford. It was a purely defensive game and the final score was 18 to 16. Oregon State won. Lots of passing in that game. -
Oregon Comes Back from Down 12 to Beat Oregon State 78-75
Sandy Rocks replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It's really frustrating that there is another game without any TV. Even the radio is cutting out with long pauses with poor quality. At least with the PAC 12 most of the games were on TV. I love watching the basketball teams and I have yet to see any games, men or women. -
Mens Basketball Beats Troy 82-61 With Great Progress....
Sandy Rocks replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I was frustrated. I wanted to watch the game. I know a lot of the preseason games are often not televised or will there be a fall off on that. I really enjoy the games. I have Dish with the Big channel but not plus. Sounds like they are doing well. Good to hear about Mookie, he hardly got to play last year. I really wanted to see him play. Supreme Cook must have been added late, I looked at the line up awhile back and he wasn't on it. -
Oregon vs Wisconsin Post Game Discussion Thread
Sandy Rocks replied to kirklandduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I remember that opponents were always faking injuries against Kelly's teams. They moved so fast that even Jerry Allen had to learn how to adjust his announcing. I loved that offense, unfortunately they did not have the defense to play against teams like Ohio State and Wisconsin. They were very opportunistic though and fun to watch. -
If the ducks lost last night there would be no mercy for them from the press. If they said a similar statement it would be perceived as whiny. Although as someone here pointed out earlier, respect for the ducks is growing nationally.

Oregon vs Wisconsin Post Game Discussion Thread
Sandy Rocks replied to kirklandduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
This team is tired, you can see it but they did enough to win. How many other teams have had to play two months with no break and as someone said all the other teams had byes. They are tough and will gain from this. This defense really can play in this conference, in the past they wouldn't have won this game. Wisconsin's defense is extremely good. -
Finebaum Goes After CFP Committee and B1G Teams
Sandy Rocks replied to David Marsh's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
That guy looks like he is permanently sucking on a lemon. Such a SEC fan. He must be a terrible person to be around. Like they say before 40 you have the face God gave you and after 40 you have the face you gave yourself, he is a walking example of that. -

B1G Time: Oregon Riding Ruthlessness to Top of Conference
Sandy Rocks replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It's amazing how much this team has changed since the first two games. They do appear to be driven and focused like you see in so many teams that are playing at the highest level. I have watched the ducks for many years and this defense by far is the best they have ever had. -
The football team is prospering in the BIG and I do like the fact that USC has to eat dirt but being in the BIG is going to be hard especially on the basketball teams especially when the weather changes. I guess we will have to see how much impact the travel has. I do miss the PAC though, probably because it was familiar. I definitely do not miss the PAC-12 channel.

I loved Ruthie playing with Sabrina. I will eternally feel cheated from watching them win the national championship. They were that good. Remember they even beat the Women's Olympic team playing their very first game.

I Only Have One Word for This Game...
Sandy Rocks replied to QuackAttack's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I streamed the game and the signal was good the entire game. It was far superior to the Pac-12 Network. When I watched that, I often lost the signal or the picture blurred with motion. I was also disappointed in this game. I agree that the team didn't seem to have a lot of energy. The defense played well and provided the only exciting parts of the game. I hope they can improve quickly or it's going to be a long season. -
Look at the Bright Side With This Game...
Sandy Rocks replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I think this team is too carried away with their ranking and being in this new conference. The defense looks good and they saved the day. The offense sucks. I am not impressed with the quarterback, he throws well but he sure can't run. That one time near the end of the game he was wide open and he still didn't run. I don't profess to be at all knowledgeable about football but even I know that when the quarterback can run and throw it gives the offense a lot of options. Maybe we should try the former UCLA quarterback, he seemed good last year.
