  1. Ohio State players will feel like they are on another planet in Autzen. The air is different from the Midwest, the sound will be vibrating their eyeballs, and the 7:45pm start time will make them slightly groggy..
  2. A perfectly executed offensive pass play cannot be stopped by perfectly executed defensive play, all else, including talent, being equal. If we can make this game come down to Howard vs. Gabriel we'll win.
  3. So that's as good as it gets for them. It's great for them they are on the CW and not a streaming service.
  4. Before the start of the season Josh Pate had Autzen in his list of loudest Stadiums he has been in, but not the top. He said part of the reason it wasn't at the top is he was there for a mediocre game, and said it was subject to revision after he goes to the OSU game, which is now here. I hope he brought his earplugs.
  5. My guess is 50% are not UO or MSU fans that just want want to watch a relevant game on Friday night.
  6. I expect the ducks come to play, all lit up like they were against Colorado last year. Fully locked in and executing at a high level. My biggest fear is if we build a 14+ point lead at any point and take our foot off the gas mentality and with play calling. I really don't want to see a Cal-Miami type of scenario. That is my worst case.
  7. While it seems like another close loss is the worst outcome where Oregon is viewed as the team not capable of winning the big games, I think it's probably the best case scenario. Even if this season ends up a total redo of last year and we run the table afterwards in conference and lose to OSU in the B1G champ game close, this year we get into the playoffs while having experienced the adversity that forced the team to grow more than they would have if they'd beat OSU in the regular season, improving our chances to make a deep playoff run. That being said, if we are the better team Saturday let's win it!
  8. I saw Jeremiah Smiths one handed TD catch last week. The reason he could only use one hand to catch was because the other hand was busily attached to the CB with arm fully extended. The refs had the angle and saw it clearly. In the NFL full extension push off like that is offensive pass interference. But it won't be called when JS is making one handed catches apparently. I'm definitely worried about that, because it makes the play undefendable even without a perfect pass.
  9. I think it's OSU's front 7. Look how rough it has been to be efficient when we weren't able to run the ball or have time to pass in the first 6 quarters of the season.
  10. If OSU loses they drop 3-4 spots. If the Ducks lose they drop 5-7 spots. Confirmation bias and all.
  11. I don't think Texas is better than Georgia or OSU on a neutral field. They are still after glowing from beating down a mid UM team, that beat a mid USC team that beat a mid LSU team. I realize the season is nearly half over but still a lot of games are required to see who can reach the highest ceiling. My poll is: tOSU Georgia Texas Alabama Oregon Penn State Tennessee Clemson Miami Irrelevant
  12. Is the ACC stupid? They have their highest ranked team playing across the country starting at 10:15pm their time? Anyways. Hear me out, there was a presumption at the beginning of the year that Michigan and LSU were pretty good, which made USC and Texas get really elevated in ranking. Now we see that LSU and Michigan are average at best. Poll voters definitely have some soul searching to do over the next 12 hours.
  13. Bo to Dan. "Coach, I know someone I think might be able to help us" In retrospect that may have been a little bit of an understatement.
  14. Michigan getting beat 14-0 by UW early. Michigan finding out that playing out west against dynamic offenses is hard. New UM QB Tuttle playing for the first time for UM because he was injured in preseason. Looks like he has the brains to open up the offense and be efficient. VERY INTERESTING DEVELOPMENT. And now they score. Hmm.
  15. This. But it's quite possible they do put it together. There will be no lack of focus at any point in this game by anyone. This is one of the most hyped games of the year. The last time we played a game this hyped was against Colorado, and look how that went until we were beating them so bad our players lost interest. One of the differences between Bo and Dillon is the mental game. Bo was always at his best when he was comfortable. Dillon has thrived under pressure. I expect to see Dillon's best next week including some effective running when necessary. I hope tOSU players come in cocky, but I think Kelly will make sure they don't underestimate how hard this game will be.
  16. It's pretty simple, why Dillon throws his way so often, he gets more separation from the defenders than anybody else and never drops the ball. Combine that with this team's identity of playing efficiently, it's a no-brainer to throw his way. Did anybody else see how high Tez got on the overthrow last night? It has to have been 40+ inches, in cleats and pads. It was shocking. He has real deal power in his legs.
  17. DeBoer going from Hero to Zero in real time. Dude always plays his team to the level of his opponents. Got away with it a lot at UW, not today. tOSU will be #1 or #2 when they arrive.
  18. Well, being college age kids, you don't know what you are going to get from one week to the next. So I prefer tOSU to be dominant against Iowa so regardless of how we play OSU is viewed as a top team, and if they have a bad game out west against Oregon, that's just too bad.
  19. ...like a mediocre team that played against one of the best teams in the country six days ago, had just travelled across the country, and was playing in a game that started at 9:15 pm and finished after midnight. I'm not trying to take away too much from Oregon's dominance, but MSU was set up to fail in this game, and it definitely showed. The table is set for next week now, B1G's equivalent of Alabama vs. Georgia. Gonna be a lot of hype.
  20. I'd say the offense has not had everyone play their best at the same time. At the very beginning of the season the OL and running backs couldn't do anything and DG and the receivers had to get it done. Tonight felt like the opposite. Perhaps some of it's just different defensive strategies and and Stein is just taking what the defense gives him. But I think there is room for both to really shine at the same time to capitalize when they are dominant.
  21. I will say that MSU, after playing the best team in the conference having to travel across the country on a short week to play at 9pm.at night, is the B1G giving them to us on a silver platter. Whether they are an entree or a main course of their own is TBD. The spread definitely thinks they are an entree.
  22. Lastly, outside of a brawl/melee, I've never seen a single player get 3 personal fouls committed against them in 3 seconds before. The defender face masked Holden, horse collared him, and then another defender open hand punched him in the face celebrating the fumble that wasn't. The refs should have called all 3 to get the point across, and technically could have enforced 2 of them, with face punch occurring after the play was actually over with the tackle.
  23. I'm confused. As a former player of many sports, I can say nearly every penalty I ever got was unintentional. It's not the point. It's not like there is Targeting in the 1st Degree, vs Targeting in the second degree. We had a defenseless player get knock out cold while airborne and the B1G just told the conference that is still a legal scenario. And my understanding is "forceable contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless player is one of the definitions of Targeting, so that should have been called Targeting. There is no statement of intent included. It's not supposed to be a consideration.
  24. I was thinking the same thing as we got into garbage time. Don't put Moore on the field. To DL's credit he didn't.
