B1G Championship GameDay Thread versus Penn State: Join Us!
Solar replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Yeah, I thought first one to 24 wins, but they have putting us on our heels with the play calling mixed with uneven, but sometimes great execution. -
B1G Championship GameDay Thread versus Penn State: Join Us!

We have yet to Stop Penn State other than when they got penalized and the bad throw INT. To be honest, our D doesn't look as prepared this game. -
B1G Championship GameDay Thread versus Penn State: Join Us!

The PSU OL looks like the best OL we've played all year. PSU offense is playing really good through the air too. We'll see if they can keep it up. -
B1G Championship GameDay Thread versus Penn State: Join Us!

I don't care if he wears 44, Warren is a special dude. He cut on an out route and left Muhammad in the dust on the first drive. And the way he manipulates himself and the defender, he's such a baller. And I thought we were going to bracket him. He keeps beating our guys 1 on 1. -

It's great to see us playing great, but the only thing I really care about is coming out of this game with no major injuries. -
GameDay Discussion of Big-12 Championship Game!

Bo Jackson, DeAnthony Thomas, Ashton Jeanty.. He's doing things human beings shouldn't be able to do, making high caliber athletes look silly. It's really special to watch. -
Trojans Wire: Oregon Does Not Deserve to Play in the B1G CCG
Solar replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
CCGs have outlived their usefulness, despite their efforts with the free bye to keep them relevant. -
We have slight to notable advantages everywhere, except our OL vs their D Line. This game is first to 20 points wins, so if our OL can give Gabriel enough time and consistently get some holes for the running game we win. Part of me thinks we start the first drive with only quick passes, with a few DG scrambles thrown in if nothing is immediately open. Neutralize their DL, and force them to stop crowding the box and play zone. Don't get in a physicality pissing match getting stuffed on early downs while they crowd the box, then force longer throws on 3rd down that give the DL time get home. Let's win one of the many ways we can win. Don't play their game.

This. Why not both? I Trust Oregon's nutrition, strength and conditioning department s to help him out on value added mass during the long off-season.

USC Trojans Receiver Kyron Hudson To Enter Transfer Portal: Oregon Ducks Next? WWW.SI.COM USC Trojans wide receiver Kyron Hudson will enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, he announced on Twitter. Hudson is the... His brother plays here, and his dad is a big fan of the ducks. If he wasn't committed to us at one point it was close. He's a possession receiver and could be a great depth piece.

FishDuck’s Special B1G Championship Game Analysis
Solar replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Penn State's offense was still clicking last week so I don't expect them to perform too badly from a concentration perspective, but you never know. A tough defense when you start feeling fatigued isn't gonna be good for them I think the second game after a bye week is probably the sweet spot. We are really healthy and rested, but also not rusty. 3 time zones isn't great. That's the biggest thing against us but didn't hurt too much against Purdue. Penn State should have a massive benefit of fans being within driving distance and a bigger deal to them as something they haven't been able to participate in since forever, while for us we are good win or lose with way more to play for than this game. I do expect our defense to win this game. It'll be a great showing for PSU if they get to 17 points in offense. We could struggle a bit on O if we get behind the chains from sacks or flags, but having Tez back will help with that immensely. -
That is what I was commenting on. Why would you respond to that question, with that answer? Did you think that would make SMU play harder? Dude doesn't understand management 101, that something is not a problem to discuss outside closed doors until you are 100% positive it has become real. That comment combined with the "we won't drop anybody not playing comment makes it very clear that the best move for SMU is not to play the game. Tell the conference to pound sand and keep receipts on the committee 's public statements for Tuesday night. The other option here is for SMU to play their scout team and bench the 2 deep. The committee already set a precedents in the past that they extrapolate performance based on which players played the games. If your 2 deep doesn't play, it doesn't give the CFP anything to work with to knock them down. All that being said, I'm sure SMU will play hard Saturday. If they get beat and dropped out to keep Bama it will be the ugliest of ugly outcomes that will taint and damage the sport for all mid tier programs going forward.

You've got to be kidding me. We'll take a great quarterback with demonstrated production in the portal. Jackson Arnold is a rehab project. We already have one that is likely better. I still think we take a QB in the Portal and turn Spring ball into tryouts with way too many QBs.
-
Not surprising. Oregon has had the most success with the portal of any team in the country, meaning they've brought it great players and successfully integrated them into the team and brought out their best, vs. a team like FSU that is loaded with transfers and collectively they all fell on their face.

Smoke that cigar Dan, you've earned it.

2024-25 Ducks Players Entering the Transfer Portal
Solar replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Homesickness is real and due to the large distances and significant climate differences for such a large number of Duck recruits from their homes relative to other things it is a disadvantage this program has to lose more good recruits than other programs all else being equal. At least with DL as well as the portal, all else is not equal, but it does make it harder on the coaches to have to overcome the disadvantage. -
Calls Mount For CFP Contender To Opt Out Of Conference Championship Game - Athlon Sports Can a team decline playing in the CCG without it being counted as a forfeit by the conference,? The committee themselves have already said teams that don't played can't be moved relative to other teams that did not play. If I were SMU I'd be pretty happy with 7th place and the seeding that gives. Take the bird in the hand. The AD would have to make the call and face the wrath of his conference, but it would force the hand of the Playoff Committee to back down from their threat to knock SMU out of the playoffs if they lose. Playoff Committee really kicked the hornets nest here. Why?

It's a valid issue that CFB fans don't have $50k to burn on Super Bowl seats like NFL fans. Heck even the NFL has every playoff as a home game for one team so at least one fanbase will fill the seats. This idea of 4 total rounds of away games for the top 2 teams, if they played in the CCG, with fans in the stands is not going to pan out. Even if tickets are free, travel cost will bankrupt everyone that isn't in the upper crust. And forget about the students. And then there is the matter of actually getting time off work multiple weekends in a row on short notice. Stands will be empty and TV screens will be packed.

But What if We Lose the Big Ten Championship?
Solar replied to Thomallister1291's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Boise State will win its CCG and get the automatic bye as the 4th ranked CC over the B12 CC. That what makes being 5th so great. 1st you play the 12th or worse ranked team at home, then you play Boise State and next thing you know your in the final 4.. We honestly can't lose next week. -
But What if We Lose the Big Ten Championship?
Solar replied to Thomallister1291's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Here I go saying it's different this time to your examples above, but old successful people are extremely risk averse to changing the status quo, and making a decision that puts CCGs at risk in the future is not something they're gonna do. SMU will be in the playoffs even if Clemson beats them, even though that would push out Bama. -
Maybe it was just locker room banter, looking for sympathy and connection with the poorman interviewer, not realizing that was actually just his last name? Stupid Donkey that he is with an inferiority complex to other teams that are better than his. No wonder they never freaking win the big games. It's now Penn State hate week. I'm up for it.

Dillon Gabriel: Big 10 Offensive Player of the Year!
Solar replied to kirklandduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
He's been about as good as Bo was his first year. Different, but overall about the same contribution to success and failure of the offense. I'm hoping Gabriel becomes a run option weapon in the playoffs. Perhaps he'll start playing a little more like second year Bo with the extra games and off weeks in the playoffs. -
This. I will say that the OSU AD being in the middle of trying to stop the brawl while Ryan Day stood on the sidelines asking what was going on had to piss off the AD at a personal level at a minimum.

But What if We Lose the Big Ten Championship?
Solar replied to Thomallister1291's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
ND lost to NIU. OSU dropped 5 spots after losing to unranked UM. We will have been the undisputed #1 for the entirety of the CFP ranking and lose to #4 in the country in a game ND didn't have to play. Josh Pate is very tied in and had stated clearly the committee will not punish losers of a CCG relative to those that didn't play in one. Unless we look overmatched and get smoked by Penn State, ND does not jump us. Not happening. -
It's BIG! Oregon vs Penn State for the B1G Championship
Solar replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
On the coaching end of this matchup we have in one corner James Franklin who can't win a big game, and in the other corner Dan Lanning with a major recruiting distraction during the one week they have to prepare for team we didn't think we would have to play this year. Who will prevail?
