Ice Cold Three point shooting night even with many wide open looks.(really missing "Barth" in that respect). No Bench scoring whatsoever, but again...not many quality minutes left playable on the bench. Poorly executed "prevent offense", having to take contested shots because of shot clock pressure that was mismanaged. I am glad they got the win and certainly enjoyed most of the game. But three, two point, wins at Gill in three years is getting...old. For once I want to see the clearly superior team, win like it. The inconsistencies are counterbalanced by the athletic abilities of this team. And that just may be it. They can play some really exciting basketball but don't have the "nuances" of play that come with a cohesive unit and they have NOT gelled in that respect as a Team. I think we have seen the floor of this team and unfortunately that floor is outside of the "Tourney Selection" window. I hope we haven't seen the ceiling yet because they still have some impactful games ahead, starting next week in the bay. Sweep the road trip; take care of Beavis at home, as you Should take care of them; and then go 2of3 against Arizona, Colorado, and Utah; and we should secure a top four seed in the Final PAC12 Tourney. They are still in control of what is possible for this Oregon Basketball team. Will they discover, attain, and maintain some semblance of a ceiling? Well I, for one, will be watching and cheering to find out. Time to finish strong. Go Ducks!

Hmmm...is this how it felt for Alabama football fans over the past decade or so??? So much talent. ALL taking "hard" looks at Oregon. Almost, yes almost, to the point of "pick - n - choose" level of recruitment. Are OBD becoming a recruiting/portal Powerhouse? I think So.

Yup. The amount of time, money, and resources that are going to be spent "litigating" all the intricate and problematic issues currently facing college football, that it will probably become a "branch of law", within the realm of athletic and educational institution law, all on its own. Attorney, courts, state and federal legislators are all going to be involved before it is mostly worked out by 2030 when all "contracts" regarding all aspects of college , er NFLite, football are to be reworked for the benefit of said league and it's participants. As a fan of OBD, my only real concern about all of this coming down the pike is that it doesn't hinder the trajectory of our current program. Yeah, kinda selfish. But, being a "fan" of OBD allows for a little bit of human frailties to slip through. And I am good with that. Go Ducks!

So as you can see OBD are not the only B1G team with difficult schedules. Although we may not have the most top heavy or difficult OOC schedule, that 8 game stretch between byes is the longest stretch of games for most any contenders, B1G or otherwise. Great opportunity to make a splash as the "new kid on the block" as we enter this new chapter of Oregon Football. Go Ducks!

The 2024 Oregon Football B1G schedule is going to be brutal. How does that schedule compare to the rest of the B1G? Here's a good article giving us a preliminary forecast. GO DUCKS! "Pritch" would have been doing this, regularly, over the past couple years if not for the phenomenal talent that was starting ahead of him. I believe I read somewhere that Payton even asked for a trade at one point. But Boston knows the talent level, and tenacity, of PP and no way were they going to trade him without "significant" compensation. I believe Boston views him as one of the best "sixth" men in the league. And so do I. I have really enjoyed being able to catch more and more of his NBA action this year, simply because he is being rotated through frequently and has seen a huge increase in minutes. Always good to see our Pro Ducks loving and living "The Dream". Go Ducks! Past, Present, and Future.

Please: End the Wave at Autzen
MicroBurst61 replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Absolutely! Shout Out to Mr. Matt Kearney. Completely captures the essence of what Eugene and Oregon Are in that song. I am positive that is why Bo chose that to play during his thank you and goodbye videoclip. Bet it gives him "duck"bumps also. The Duck leading the team out on a Motorcycle....er sorry...HOG! Left my Heart in Oregon between first and second quarters. SHOUT! going into the fourth. And of course "It Never Rains at Autzen Stadium" BECAUSE of a Loud and Intimidating stadium crowd bolstering one of the hardest stadiums to steal a win in! Yeah OBD's have some rather cool stadium "traditions" taking with us into the B1G10. We can wave "the wave" goodbye. -
Please: End the Wave at Autzen
MicroBurst61 replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
"The Wave" is soooo last century. It is, today, what the cross stadium chant of "We got spirit, yes we do! We got spirit, how bout you?!" while emphatically pointing to the other side during the 1960's-70's. I remember taking part in my first "wave" during a Denver Broncos game in the early 90's, before my transplanting to Oregon. Back then it was "fresh" and really felt like a new, visual way, to involve the game attendants. It was fun. Flashforward 30 years (OMG has it Really been that long!) and the use of the wave, ad nauseam, by Every sporting event (even the PGA....or maybe just remembering a scene from Happy Gilmore ?) just brings eyerolls from most and only see half of the ppls participating. Now "SHOUT" between the third and fourth quarter is something that NEVER gets old. Keeps people on their seats. "Pumps up the Jam" going into the final quarter, and is a whole lot more "interactive" between the players and the fans than any "wave" ever participated in. Having the entire stadium singing and dancing their way through Shout, building to the climax of the entire stadium bellowing "WhoaaoooOoooAhooo" still puts raised hairs on my body and HAS to be rather Intimidating to whomever has come to visit Autzen, just to lose. Now THAT'S the stadium tradition that shall endure! (for at least as long as I shall continue.....to endure!) Go "Shout" and OBD. -

Great Hype video. LA's working with the UofO "hype video" department??!! Oh and a nice audio touch there at the end. Tapping into the marvel universe pop culture soundtrack from the climax of "Endgame".

Well. A win is a win, but Dana voiced it correctly in the post game interview. "You cannot be making the mistakes that this team was making last night on February 8th." Defense was... sporadic and damn near non existent the last 8 minutes of the game. I DO NOT understand how this team goes cold sooo fast during the course of a game. Frustrating part is it is usually not anything that the opposing team does, OBD just go cold. At least we seem to have finally worked through our FREEthrows and has become a strength as of late. Dante. Don't know what to say. He definitely effects "the paint" and has some nice inside moves. However, he has been getting "punked" inside on the defensive end of the court. Way too many "easy" baskets from opposing players against a body that should be preventing those with ease. After all it was one of the reasons this team just had to "hangon" until our inside bigs got back. Unfortunately it is not making a whole lot of difference on the defensive end of the court. That needs to change! For the most part I enjoyed the game but getting tired of early/late game lapses. This team is really good when playing to their ability. Just can't seem to get outta their heads when things unravel. But again even through the letdowns I still have not seen this team "give up" on a game. That alone keeps me hopeful for this final run for OBD basketball will reward them for the tenacity. But. It is February 8th. Now or never Quackers!

ESPN, Warner Bros and Fox are Teaming up for Sports Streaming
MicroBurst61 replied to Dave23's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Well that didn't take long. Less than a year after all these "poor, financially strapped, struggling sports media options that the PAC12 was ready to embrace at a paltry 35-40 mil per team...NOW have the "revenue" to start a whole New "Profit Sharing" Streaming Service for the Sports fan in general. Now I understand that there is a complexity to sports programming and the attraction for the media partners in streamlining sports viewing options is logical. I also know that this WILL benefit the overall sports fan (for a Price) and maybe will start the final return to "cable packages" for other online media content, albeit in a streaming format Aaaand at twice the cost of comparable ole-timey cable of the 1990's (frog in boiling water approach). My issue is that this current path by sports media has been in the works for Years! Yet the sports fan is fed a narrative that the reality of the situation is not what is actually in the works. Just feels "insulting" to the average fan because it is so obvious when news like this comes down the pike. Maybe I'm still a lil "butt-hurt" at the demise of the PAC12 and in the larger view or scheme of things, this will probably benefit us sports fans more than not. But be aware, with the appetite for sports in the USofA, this one streaming service will probably end up becoming the "highest cost" streaming service. Thus the potential financial "goldmine" for the partners in combining sports viewing options into one. After all, when up and running with subscribers, and the Majority of sports from these TV partners NOW being streamed from this new "Sports Only" streaming service. Where else you going to go to immerse yourself into whatever sport you tend to follow? Hmmm??? Makes me think of it as a reinvention of ESPN, on Steroids, from when they first burst upon the cable scene in the 1980's.(yeah...showing my age again) Except this time they will have captured the majority of mainstream sports vs showing demolition and roller derbies to fill there 24hr. sports cycle. We will pay whatever the cost will be because..."short hairs"! Systems operating under larger systems. Go Sports! -
The Pac-12 is Dead; Let Chaos Reign
MicroBurst61 replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Nice read on the effects of "transplanted" PAC12 teams and the unintended consequences of years of the PAC having been taken lightly. With 3-5 top 25 matchups for most playoff contenders in both the top heavy SEC and B1G, I would find it hilarious if they "cannibalized wins" from each other (like what would happen annually in the PAC) and a few of the ex'pac' members slip into the playoffs ahead of the top heavies. (NO!...not talking about OBD's in this scenario). Maybe, just maybe, the defunct PAC (Sorry OSU/WSU - just don't see a path back to conference relevance...well maybe NOT too sorry!) will Finally get the respect they should have earned, posthumously, and for whatever that recognition will be worth to the fans and alumni of that once majestic conference. At the very least it will give the talking heads more data points to fill the never ending sports news cycle with. Go Quackers! -
ESPN Thoughts On the 12 Team Playoff
MicroBurst61 replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
THIS needs to be addressed above all else. Having half of the B1G take on another loss against other B1G schools, when 95% of the SEC are guaranteed one more "in the Win column" against clearly inferior opponents has, for years, artificially boosted the perceived strength of the SEC. And they KNOW that. If SEC continues to only play 8 conference games then they need to be Punished by the selection committee when deciding between two teams from different conferences with the same win/loss record. The one with 9 conference games, regardless of SOS, needs to be placed above ANY other team that only plays 8. Hopefully that this is going to change soon, like NLT 2025 schedule, but not holding my breathe. But we shall see. -

Tosh Offered Oregon DC Twice Before?
MicroBurst61 replied to kirklandduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Huh. Interesting. Guess he was just waiting for the "right" defensive minded coach to come along. I think DL and TL both compliment each other with their defensive mind sets. I hope they will continue to work together through OBD first TWO national championships in the B1G. -
Men's Basketball - February "CRUNCH" time.
MicroBurst61 replied to MicroBurst61's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Poor start to the game. Great comeback from 18 down to close out the first half. Solid back and forth at the start of the second half. Went cold shooting and stopped defending the last part of the game. This team doesn't give up when things go wrong, but there seems to Always be something that has gone wrong each game. Chemistry and flow seem to still be the major roadblock from being just a good team to becoming a great one. PAC12 basketball this year is still competitive, within the league, but with some bad losses, just not enough Q1 and Q2 games left for the Ducks to impress outside of the league. Three PAC teams within a game of Arizona and three more one game further back, but I don't believe the regular season champion will necessarily get an autobid this year. Can this team close out February with no more losses? Road heavy against some "motivated" teams will definitely challenge them. Need to stay focused and gel as a team more than they have to date. Regular season championship is still within their grasp but no more lapses during games, or that will fail to come to fruition. Most important for this team to secure a top four position in the PAC12 tourney and then make some noise when seeded. This is becoming more and more of the path the Ducks will have to follow to "go dancin'" unless they can darn near "run the table" for the rest of the regular season. Not going to give up on this team, yet, for they are playing more cohesive and more to task than Duck basketball the past few seasons, but they got to "get it together" NOW to make that run to the dance. Would hate to see this team who definitely are trying hard and have worked through a "rotating M*A*S*H unit", to not be rewarded by at least the first weekend of dancing. Let us all hope our roundball ducks will succeed. Go Ducks! -
Would TV Execs WORK with Taylor Swift...for Ratings?

What?! NFL "capitalizing" on a pop culture phenom that just happens to be in that sports spotlight? Nah...say it isn't so! What do you think we operate under? A "capitalist" society...yeesh! Next thing you know we will have to watch 45 minutes of pop culture halftime shows. (Wardrobe malfunctions anyone?) Oh wait! Yeah we do. Never mind, carry on. Make that money while the iron is hot! Go Super"bowlies"... ! -
Men's Basketball - February "CRUNCH" time.
MicroBurst61 replied to MicroBurst61's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Wasn't ugly. But wasn't pretty. Shot well and played good defense for 3/4 of the game but let both lapse in the last 7-8 minutes. Went from shooting mid 40, both FG and 3pt'ers, to high 30's by the end of the game. Meanwhile USuCk did the opposite and finished strong. Thank goodness our FREEthrows have been holding up much better or this could have turned into a BAD loss. Love the fact that Shelstad seemed to get his "groove" back and had 4 other players score double digits. Really was impressed with Oquendo who had solid stats all around AND managed to hang onto the ball. Definitely help make up for a subpar game from Cousnard. Even with dealing with a rotating M*A*S*H unit this team (and they seem to be solidifying that term as the season progresses) as a group can play Elite basketball. They genuinely seem to Enjoy playing with/for each other. They just need to do it for a full game, every game. No more sluggish starts and no more lapses, especially in the last 8 minutes of any game. Onto UCLaLaLand with another must win road game. Again on paper we OBD should win by double digits, but UCLaLaLand is a much more rounded team than the one we just beat. See ya all on Saturday! Go Ducks ! (PS: NJDuck attempted a live game thread last night. If NJDuck set up another "live thread" for UCLaLaLand let's see if we can all jump in and "cuss and discuss" as the game unfolds.). Later fellow Ducksters. -
