Neuheisel: Still a Jerk After All These Years
MicroBurst61 replied to Dav3d's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Hmmm...seems the NFL-Lite world is starting to see the (Duck) writing on the wall! I'd be "salty" too watching the "Oregon passion" bypass any and all attempts to squash its momentum. Just DAYS left until Fall Camp. Can't hardly wait! Go Quackers! -

Rose Bowl Asks To Avoid Semi-Final In CFP
MicroBurst61 replied to HDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Shame that it comes to this but just another repercussion of conference realignment and 12, to 16, team playoff. As with most of the "traditions" of ,college to NFL-lite, that are to be abandoned or altered to suite the new paradigm. (TV) Money Talks. -
"Decade of The Duck". Hmmm. I like the sound, and promise, of that. Let's go make it so! Go Ducks!

This is How to Make Bowl Season Matter Again
MicroBurst61 replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
From within the article posted: >>>"Bowl season should consider a handful of venues and host multiple games at the same site — and those games should be played over the course of two to three days. Bowl season would take on a feel more akin to the March Madness hub locations where fans could go to multiple games."<<< Although a lot of venues would be "butthurt" by getting dropped from the oversaturated "bowl-season as it currently is; this idea would probably "fly" guite well. Kinda like what the NIT is to "March-Madness in college basketball. But, with paychecks. An interesting idea in helping keep the "bowl-season" alive, but streamlined and promoted to make the "second-tier" games more interesting and more than just "glorified spring games". Ok. Now on to the important stuff! Just a week out until fall camp. My, oh, my has it been a Loooonnnngggg off-season. CAN'T WAIT! GO DUCKS! -
How the times have changed. Use to be that the Oregon Ducks was the team "circling opponents" upcoming on their schedules, as a team to beat for a "signature" win against a blueblood. NOW we are that team that EVERYONE would Love to beat for THE "quality" win of the season. What a time to be a Duck! 's!

The Reality of NIL in CFB Recruiting Today
MicroBurst61 replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Unfortunately the human animal brain wants to simplify most any situation to its most simple and basic explanation, for this is how our biology and how human brains "self-preservation hardwire" tend to work. (Can't sit there contemplating the ramifications of the Sabertooth Tiger charging you as it's next meal). Your brain, instantly, breaks that down to the most basic fight or flight response, based on the Limited, but apparent, information coming in via the senses. So we tend to embrace the knee-jerk, generalized, explanation for ...reasons...fulfilling that basal instinct to "know" what the limited amount of information we observe actually means or represents. So, that being said it never surprises me when the reaction to a "win or loss" in the NIL world is so over-generlized regarding the reasons why. Yes, "The Bag" may be a new "legal" dynamic in NFL-Lite recruiting, both out of high school and the portal, but player fit, relationships, long-term goals, development, and needs of both player and program are still huge factors on why a player decides his football future. We probably Don't want the player that is simply looking to get paid, over all other conciderations. I do not believe that Oregon Division Street is simply "throwing money" at all five and four stars out there. I DO believe that Division Street has a valid business plan and a cutting edge vision of NIL and are not the "lynch pin" that future "men of Oregon" solely base their decisions on. Division Street is simply the NIL branch of a larger organization and NOT the driver of that organization. I may be wrong, money generating ventures during my lifetime do seem to "digress" and start to compromise the values they were founded on when the "easy money" dries up and it becomes more and more difficult to "compete" at previous levels of success; but I hope and pray that Division Street avoids this trap and, like the OBD's over the past 25 years, leads NFL-lite in how NIL should be part of a "package" and not just a means to an end. Thanks for attending my TED talk. I'll be here all week. Go Ducks! -

OC Stein’s Oregon Offense: Capitalizing on a Strength
MicroBurst61 replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Your play analysis and insight is one of the reasons I Love participating in this forum. Always feel I could take these observations and become a darn good football coach myself. (Of course, successful coaching is Sooooo much more than just play calling). But, WATCH OUT, NCAA 2024 I have a plethora of "Duck" plays I will be unleashing on my digital opponents! Thanks Mr. FishDuck for exposing more of the nuances of OBD's offensive prowess and how it can give "fits" to opposing defensive coordinators. Keep up the good work! Go Mr. fishDuck and OBD's. 's. -

Pre-season AND early season polls are fan fodder. Gives something to "cuss and discuss" when nothing of substance is really actually happening. Agreed that any polls before weeks 5-6 are simply for "positioning" to give the illusion of top 25, early season, matchups. Only skews higher rankings for the conferences that have more teams initially ranked, than may be actually deserving of said rankings. (Thinking of Tennessee in the BCS ERA, initially ranked top 5 and finished with like 5 losses). Anyway! Look how high the Ducks are ranked in ALL these polls! Must mean a Natty is inevitable THIS YEAR! Makes us feel good as Duck fans butttt sitting here on the 8th of July they all are meaningless speculation. Gotta have something to talk about in the 24 hour sports news cycle, right? Go Ducksters!

Dan Lanning Has West Coasters Shook!
MicroBurst61 replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Quack. Since 1993 I have watched this football program "build" itself into what we see today. Over the years this program took every "legal and proper" way they could find to improve and become a "playa" in the college football landscape. (Even a few avenues that were in the "gray" area, ie, Willie's recruiting service that got Chip dinged). Point is unlike many other programs, especially from the southeast regions of our country, Oregon took every advantage they could find to raise their profile and brand recognition, properly. NIL is nothing new to college football, it's just sanctioned and "legal" now to actually compensate players, so Oregon can now apply that advantage to the build they have been accomplishing for over a quarter century (damn I'm getting old). Other fan bases are butthurt cause Oregon DID IT RIGHT, and not through shady backroom deals and money transfers via boosters, donors, relatives, and the like. We have Uncle Phil because of what Oregon is and represents, but he is Not The Only One that makes up Division Street. Our NIL is strong and seems to be managed as well as any other NIL program out there. Just another example "legal and proper way"; and just another tool that Oregon seems to be using quite well in pursuit of the "Natty", which after all is the final validation of all of it. The Oregon Program has and will continue to compete in all facets of the new NFL-lite; as it continues to raise its profile and standing that they have earned through long-term visions and goals, that again, we can see the results of in front of our own eyes. Winning feels Great! Winning with integrity, Euphoric! Go Ducks Football! 's -
D. Lanning's tenure as our Head Coach (his FIRST Head Coaching position) has barely surpassed the tenure of only one of Oregon's past three previous head coaches. So, yes, Waayyy too early to make any definitive statements on Dan's full potential as a Head Coach of a Power5 program. However, the small sample size we have has to be most encouraging. I believe D. Lanning "sold" Oregon on his abilities, by most likely pointing out what he, himself saw in the programs endeavours to not only reach the "promised land" but to indeed be a consistent top tier football program that develops and advances it's player personel. He convinced them that he was the top man needed to help fulfill both of their full potentials. After TWO years both Dan and the Oregon football program are both just starting to 'hit their stride". Our first year in the B1G With Eight straight conference games without a bye, will most definitely "test" the mettle of both, but "ponder" about this for just a minute. If, and yes a B1G if, that this year's team under Dan Lanning's leadership navigates a brutal and unfamiliar schedule their first year in the B1G. Wins the conference championship and secures a first round bye in the playoffs, then goes on to win said playoffs over say Dan's previous mentor K.Smart of Georgia. Imagine the COMPLETE change of narrative after one season of both Dan Lanning AND that annoying, flashy, speedy, and now big and beefy, football team tucked away up there in the Pacific Northwest! Yes. We could very well be on the cusp of a "new" era in Oregon Ducks Football. Dan Lanning is there to Lead the way. Go Ducks!

First Generation "O" Uniform Reveal 6/26: "Color Fit For a Mamba"
MicroBurst61 replied to a topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Ok. I am a Ducks fan and Oregon really is the only "athletic" teams that I follow more than casually. So, I can't speak to other teams and fan bases but....the fact that the Oregon "programs" are not only keeping close ties with several previous "Duck" athletes and in fact involving them, significantly, with all aspects of the current "programs"; can only be a good indicator of what type of "programs" we are all fortunate to be fans of. Makes me Proud to call myself a "Duck" Fan! Go Oregon Ducks! -
Cool! Matthew Knight Arena Court Redesign Reveal
MicroBurst61 replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I'll be the first to admit that I actually liked the previous floor design, even though watching it on TV was sometimes....distracting. That being said. TOTAL UPGRADE! The apple color scheme will be much more aligned with both past and present Oregon BB teams. Kept the "Tall Firs", but having them actually green, and somewhat more muted, gives more of the impression of being "Deep In The Woods!". Lastly, the actual going back to real wood grain court pays omage to the timber industry that is/was so pivotal in this states economics and history. Only dissenting item of note....NOT use to a Big, B1G logo, plastered on each end of the court. (Sad PAC Face). Hopefully the "refreshed" court is not the only thing being "refreshed" in both our men's and women's basketball programs. Let the new era of Oregon (B1G) Basketball Begin! GO QUACKERS! -
2024 Puddles Perilous Playoff Flight Path for Puddles.
MicroBurst61 replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
If the SEC and B1G intend on "sealing the deal" regarding their NFL-Lite league, issues such as these will HAVE to be addressed or risk delegitimizing the "level playing field" that NFL-Heavy has worked so hard to attain. My thoughts are that it is the final "gifts" to the SEC, and their fans, as thank you for dragging college football into becoming a NFL "competitor"; and issues like "number of conference games" and "rotating scheduling" of playoff games and locations will be coordinated before we go to 16 game playoff in a couple of years. As long as OBD are there to knock some head around, I'll deal with the current disparity! Go Quackers!!! -
The ability to recognize errors or faults within anyone's endeavours or vocations is a necessary trait for achieving ones full potential. Graves obviously has had some success as a coach, but what had worked for him in the past is not working now with what the woman's game is today. My hope is a resurgence in both his recruiting/retention of top players along with a change on how he coaches, in game. If Graves can make the changes necessary for his continued success in the future, then Oregon women's basketball shall compete. If he can't, or if any changes are ineffective, then a change of scenery, for both Graves and the program, will be in order. Go Ducks!

Track and Field Recruiting and Outlook for Oregon?
MicroBurst61 replied to TerryM9's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Curious? We all hear about the "advantages" of Oregon's NIL program, Division Street, and how it is bolstering recruiting efforts in both football and basketball. Does their reach also get applied to other scholarship sports such as track & field, baseball, softball, etc? My hope is that there is a significant effort to have both Men's and Women's TnF be a top 3 program, annually, in the NCAA's. Climate (both weather and fandom), Facilities, Coaches, NIL(?), should make it a slam dunk for our T&F programs to become so. Go Ducks!
